Colorful And Lavish Backyard Wedding

November 30, 2021 | riley

After the most unpredictable year ever, more couples are purposefully choosing alternative venues that allow flexibility and freedom to make choices that feel more intimate and personal. For Diana and Michael, choosing their family’s picturesque San Diego property for their colorful and lavish backyard wedding couldn’t have been more perfect.

The couple took full advantage of the beautiful setting by having the ceremony and reception in the same space. To keep the transition seamless, they tapped wedding planner Mario Alberto for help. The stunning ceremony decor included a beautiful arch filled to the brim with a mix of bright colorful blooms and lush foliage, a petal-covered aisle, and hanging white papel picado banners. The romantic ceremony space was then transformed into a festive reception and all-out dance party complete with a mariachi band, LED foam sticks, fountain fireworks, and tequila shots.

Wedding Advice From The Newlyweds

Our advice for couples is to try to keep things streamlined and uncomplicated, stay true to your style, and savor every moment. We converted our ceremony to the reception which was super helpful in budgeting for decorations and rentals. This meant we were able to repurpose the floral arrangements and use the same chairs for both the ceremony and reception.

Choosing A Friend To Officiate

Michael and I are dental school sweethearts and we had our best friends officiate and serve as witnesses for the wedding. They’ve witnessed our love story from the beginning so it made sense to have them be a part of our day.

Working With A Calm and Collected Photographer

Ash was the best! She was great at managing all the moving parts of the day, and helping us all stay calm to enjoy each moment. There was a moment when I was finishing up getting ready that the groom and his family had arrived for the first look that I started to panic a little. She helped get me centered, to take a second, and just breathe. I truly think that advice helped me get in the mindset to enjoy the entire day!

Fun Wedding Surprises

Mario Alberto went above and beyond with the wedding day surprises. We had a mariachi band entertain us during cocktail hour and introduce us as we entered the reception. By far the greatest was the robot on stilts—it really got the party going on the dance floor. We had so many people tell us that it was the funnest wedding they had ever been to.

A Lavish Backyard Wedding That Feels Like A Festive Night Out

We gave out tequila shots at the reception to get the party started! Once the party started and mostly everyone was out on the dance floor, music blasting, I looked around and saw so many of the important people I loved having a great time. It brought me so much joy, to have our love bring people together like that. Especially after the previous crazy year, it was like the big exhale people were waiting for, and if for only a brief night, it felt like things were back to “normal.”

Vibrant and Pastel Greenhouse Wedding

November 29, 2021 | riley

We’re obsessed with the playful, fresh, and fun vibe of Madi and Kole’s vibrant and pastel greenhouse wedding! The couple purposely did a hands-off, no-stress approach and completely trusted their wedding planner Grace Scott to take the reins. They encouraged their vendors to let their creativity run wild. The result—an epic and unforgettable wedding.

Guests were greeted with a colorful cascading balloon arch draped across the Greenhouse facade which also served as a jaw-dropping backdrop for their ceremony. Stunning floating floral installations adorned with garlands of orange slices and airy, delicate purple coloured plumosa ferns added a whimsical touch to the unique reception layout. The oversized flower photo wall was an eye-catching statement piece that completed the overall outdoor wedding vibe.

The fashion forward bride wore the coolest colorful studded pumps! She also made four outfit changes and looked beautiful each time. For the ceremony, she wore a classic ivory off-the-shoulder dress. Throughout the reception, she changed into a sweet blush dress with lace bodice and tulle skirt, a fun white strapless gown with colorful abstract detail, and a more relaxed blush slip dress. The groom looked effortlessly stylish, polished, and laid-back in his beige suit.

A Stress-Free Pastel Greenhouse Wedding

When you trust your vendors, they’re amazing and so creative. The venue owners were so accommodating to creativity, too. They hung a balloon garland on the front of the building and a floating garden outside for us. Plus, who doesn’t love a greenhouse? We let our vendors be as creative as they wanted and there wasn’t one stressful moment because we weren’t involved in every little detail. We just showed up and had the best day!

Working with Inner Images and Shelby Chanté

I loved how Inner Images and Shelby Chanté took control so we didn’t have to stress. They let us be us and didn’t force uncomfortable poses. It was perfect and so much fun.

Wedding Day Surprises

Every detail was a surprise and I loved how untraditional it was. I was so amazed watching all the vendors put it all together. They worked so hard and I was blown away by all the details and surprises. I had always dreamed of having a sparkler send-off, so I was excited when the DJ announced it at the end of the night.

The Wedding Day Menu

Our chef foraged most of our meal from the forests of the Ozarks. Who can say that?! I love sustainability and how hard she worked for our wedding meal. She also has her own line of local syrups and they are so yummy!

The Most Memorable Part Of The Day

My husband Kole was so memorable for me that day. He was so go-with-the-flow when he doesn’t usually like to be the center of attention. I loved having all the in-between moments photographed, like when Kole put my shoes back on me or us being silly. Also, the photobooth. It made our reception a party.

Chic Wedding With A Special Korean Ceremony

November 24, 2021 | riley

Today’s wedding boasts an impressive venue, sleek acrylic decor, creative floral installations, a classic monochromatic theme, the purr-fect first look, and a special Korean ceremony. Angie and Simon’s chic wedding at the Hangar 21 is the perfect combination of modern, timeless, and a good time.

For the ceremony, Angie was breathtaking in her A-line gown with floral lace applique featuring a deep plunge neckline and low open back. She then changed for the reception into a dance-worthy and trendy jumpsuit. Simon also had a great stylish moment in his classic all-black suit.

The couple honored their Korean heritage with their contemporary take of the traditional Korean wedding custom, the Paebaek. The bride wore a beautifully embroidered cream, gold, and burgundy hanbok. The groom looked equally dashing in his complementary traditional attire.

During the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and the couple’s signature cocktails while the venue was being flipped from a modern ethereal ceremony to a minimalist chic reception. If you’re looking for black and white chic wedding inspo, you’re not going to want to miss any of the stunning images captured by Kapsule Co.

A Chic Wedding Ceremony To Reception Transformation

Hangar 21 was the ultimate blank canvas that could be transformed into anything. For the ceremony, white floral arrangements and greenery adorned each row of ghost chairs and the gorgeous, understated backdrop. The amazing wedding team and vendors were hard at work creating a seamless transformation from ceremony to reception. Tables were draped in white linen to match the white Tiffany chairs then elegant monochromatic place settings were added. The themed centerpieces and repurposed decor were the perfect finishing touches to bring it together.

A Special and Customised Korean Ceremony

The couple wanted to honor their own heritage by weaving traditional elements of the Paebaek into their wedding day like the tossing and catching of chestnuts and dates, and the date kiss. They blended rituals beautifully and made it fun to share this special moment with their guests.
