Turning a Destination Wedding Into a Three-Day Celebration
Carolina and Taylor knew many of their guests would be visiting Sicily for the first time, which shaped how they planned their Sicily destination wedding. Instead of focusing on one main event, they organized several gatherings across the weekend so everyone could settle into the setting and celebrate together.
It all began in Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage town known for its striking baroque architecture. Guests gathered at I Crociferi for a welcome celebration filled with Sicilian street food and lively conversation as everyone settled into the rhythm of the weekend.
The wedding day itself took place at Dimora delle Balze, a historic estate surrounded by olive groves and rolling countryside. The festivities wrapped up with a relaxed beach day at Baiamuri Beach Club, where guests swam, lounged, and enjoyed the slower pace of Sicilian coastal life.
“Our hope was simple,” Carolina shared. “We didn’t just want guests to remember our wedding. We wanted them to remember how it felt.”

Incorporating Meaningful Details Throughout the Wedding
Some of the most meaningful moments of the weekend came from the quieter details throughout the celebration.
Just before the ceremony, Taylor surprised Carolina with a handwritten letter and a gift she had long admired: a Loro Piana bag. The gesture became one of the most emotional moments of the day.
Taylor also incorporated custom elements into his look, including their wedding monogram stitched inside his tuxedo and engraved on his cufflinks.
The couple partnered with The Bridezilla Co. to create a custom stationery suite that included save-the-dates, invitations, and a wedding website featuring an embossed illustration of the venue. Even their wedding fragrances from Creed were engraved with their wedding date.
Each element worked together to tell the story of their relationship in subtle, thoughtful ways.

Including Family in Meaningful Ceremony Moments
Carolina and Taylor decided against a first look so that their first glimpse of each other would happen during the ceremony.
“We skipped the first look to savor one singular, unfiltered moment: seeing each other as I walked down the aisle,” Carolina said. “Months of planning and anticipation disappeared in an instant.”
A close friend officiated the ceremony and spent months learning about their relationship. Instead of traditional readings, the couple included passages from poems and letters they had written to each other over the years.
One of the most emotional moments came when Carolina’s nieces recited parts of the vows they had memorized.
“Hearing their sweet voices speak our words brought laughter, happy tears, and a profound sense of family love threaded through every syllable,” she said.

Encouraging Guests to Express Personal Style Through Fashion
Carolina and Taylor treated fashion as another way to express personality throughout their wedding weekend. Instead of formal wedding parties, they encouraged guests to embrace their own sense of style.
“Our dress code was simple: Dress to impress—this will be a fashion show,” Carolina said.
For the welcome party, Carolina wore a seashell-adorned Cult Gaia dress inspired by the ornate beauty of Noto, paired with white Chanel heels. Taylor kept things relaxed in an ivory linen Ralph Lauren suit and Tod’s loafers.
On the wedding day, Carolina wore a custom SEPT gown with a French lace veil, Aquazzura heels, and pearl-and-diamond earrings gifted by her mother. Later in the evening, she changed into a sleek Helsa dress for the first dance before finishing the night in a lace SAU LEE mini designed for dancing.
Taylor continued the subtle Italian fashion thread with an Armani tuxedo and Ferragamo shoes.

Planning a Reception That Moves Naturally From Dinner to Dancing
Following the ceremony, guests gathered in the courtyard for drinks and Sicilian music performed by the band Mizzica Mizzica. The atmosphere quickly shifted from relaxed to celebratory when a traditional Italian dance circle began forming.
Guests laughed, clapped, and joined in, creating an instant sense of connection before the reception even started.
As dinner began, the band opened with Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” and the dance floor filled almost immediately. Candlelight flickered against the stone walls while the chandeliers overhead glowed warmly.
Friends and family danced well into the night, turning the historic courtyard into an open-air party beneath the Sicilian sky.

Using Historic Architecture as the Foundation for Wedding Design
Rather than competing with the venue, Carolina and Taylor designed their wedding around the natural character of Dimora delle Balze. The courtyard’s textured stone walls and open sky created a setting that already felt cinematic.
Crystal chandeliers were suspended above the dining tables, introducing a hint of glamour against the rustic architecture. Long family-style tables encouraged conversation while soft white linens kept the look light and balanced.
The color palette leaned into deep burgundy and wine tones, softened with dusty blush, ivory, and natural greenery. The deep hues stood out against the pale stone courtyard, giving the tablescape a warm, romantic richness.
To nod to the region’s culture, the couple incorporated Sicilian tambourines throughout the decor. The playful details added movement, sound, and a sense of place to the celebration.

Working With a Local Planner Who Knows the Region
Planning a Sicily destination wedding from another country comes with its challenges, which is why Carolina and Taylor leaned on the expertise of Junebug vendor Amuri Events & Wedding Planner.
Carolina admits that handing over control wasn’t easy at first. “Initially I didn’t trust her, as I am a project manager myself, therefore I like to have control over everything and everyone,” she said. “But step by step, when I finally let this part go and give her full trust, she brought to life the best day of my life.”
Their planner helped source trusted local vendors, coordinate logistics across multiple locations, and shape a cohesive design that honored the character of the venue.
“The food was excellent, the location was stunning, and the overall design and coordination across the different venues were a dream come true,” Carolina said.

The Value of Working With Vendors Who Know the Destination
Looking back, Carolina says the biggest lesson from planning their Sicily destination wedding was learning to trust the people who know the destination best.
“Organising a wedding, and especially a destination wedding, is not easy when you don’t know the market and are not locally based,” she said. “Having and fully trusting an expert local vendor like Barbara from Amuri was essential.”
