The decision to elope often has to do with wanting to forego the stress of wedding planning and instead focusing full on your love. While you may decide to skip the seating chart and centerpieces, there are a few elements to your elopement you may not want to miss out on. Of course you’ll need a stellar photographer capturing your intimate vows, but you might want to put a little thought into what you’re wearing while you read them! Choosing your elopement dress is similar to selecting any wedding dress in that you want to feel your most beautiful, but there are some unique factors at play in such a small celebration.

First, you have to consider budget. Is eloping giving you the opportunity to wear the extravagant gown of your dreams, or would you be more comfortable in an alternative white dress at a more conservative price point? Second, you’ve got to know where in the world you’re saying “I do.” Do you want your elopement dress to complement the surroundings, or stand out with a statement? With those answers in mind, scroll through the following inspiration and picture your own wedding day!

Florence, Italy Elopement at Torre di Bellosguardo + Video

January 22, 2016 | nicole

Jillian and Tony’s Florence, Italy elopement is full of beautiful surprises. Though the bride used to be a wedding planner, she and her groom decided to elope. Jillian’s gown is one of the most uniquely stunning we’ve seen, and she purchased it for just $899 at TJ Maxx! Even with no official wedding guests, Jillian and Tony handpicked several professionals to be present on their day, including a photographer, videography team, and even two officiants. Photographer Sofie Delauw of The Curious Eater and the talented cinematographers behind Gattotigre Videomakers captured every thoughtful, candid, and magical moment of the elopement.

The Couple:

Jillian and Tony

The Wedding:

Torre di Bellosguardo, Florence, Italy

I absolutely love to get dressed up, and I have a feeling people think I spend a LOT of money on clothes…. but you wouldn’t believe how much of my closet is from Goodwill and thrift stores. I purchased my Ralph Lauren Purple Label Wedding Gown at TJ Maxx on clearance for $899. No one seems to believe me!

Everything about our ceremony was incredibly intimate. Our officiants did a wonderful job of delving into the story of us — both as a couple and who we are as individuals. The entire ceremony was personalized to reflect our love, our commitment, and our promises to each other.

I used to be a wedding planner, so I’ve witnessed firsthand the disappointment of getting swept up into the whirlwind of a traditional wedding and having the moment end abruptly after months- or even years- of planning. I wanted us to have a much more intimate experience that truly captured the commencement of this monumental commitment. For us, that meant a private ceremony, carefully written vows, and lots of meaningful moments.

We had just moved into a very contemporary new home and decided upon a completely neutral color palette. We loved how clean things looked in black and white, so we decided to carry that design through into our wedding. The penthouse at Gallery Hotel Art was a perfect match for our style, and it felt like a glammed-up version of our home away from home.

We absolutely love Italy and the food, wine and beauty of the Amalfi Coast made it the perfect choice to fit our brief. The wedding theme and my dress had to work perfectly with the venue- the aim was classic, classy and beautiful.

The Moments: “Walking down the aisle with my parents and meeting my future husband’s eyes for the first time…in front of the most beautiful backdrop in the world. Amazing.

The Couple Recommends: “All of them- best wedding planners, photographer and videographers one could ask for. As for the venue and reception itself, it was absolute perfection, every bit of it!

Italian Inspired Wedding in Tuscany

November 12, 2014 | nicole

We’re so excited to share a special video treat today from master videographers Gattotigre. Caroline and Henry envisioned an extravagant Italian inspired wedding in Tuscany, and thanks to an incredibly talented team of wedding professions, all of their wedding dreams came true. The bold pink and purple color scheme paired beautifully with the glamorous crystal accents throughout the wedding decor. Caroline is a beautiful bride, wearing a dreamy Claire Pettibone gown as she exchanged her vows with Henry and danced the night away under the Tuscany stars.

The Couple: Caroline and Henry

The Wedding: Tuscany, Italy

The Inspiration:Italian theme, as I am English. I kept it as simple as possible. The flower colours are my favourite purple, pinks and creams! My wedding dress was fully lace and I found that was more of Italian fashion.

The Moments: “Every part!! But if I was to pick just one! It would be our first dance, it was so romantic and the song meant so much, we felt as if we were in another world.

The Couple Recommends:Marco was a fantastic wedding planner, he did nearly everything for us! All I had to do was exchange emails from England. He drove us all over and took us anywhere we wanted. And also the videographers were amazing! Their style of video editing is amazing.

The Wedding Team:

Videography – Gattotigre
Photography – Holly Rose Stones
Event Coordination – Romeo & Juliet Weddings
Venue – Castello di Modanella
Floral Design – Flowers by Kay
