Intimate and Soulful East Austin Outdoor Wedding

September 19, 2020 | riley

Justine’s Secret House was the perfect venue for Chelsea and Marty’s intimate, fun-loving, and stylish wedding. The couple knew that they wanted to have a very intimate celebration of their everlasting love with a family-only ceremony and a reception. Their venue, which is typically a hip local restaurant, perfectly fit their closest friends and family.

Chelsea’s Anna Campbell floral laced a-line gown perfectly matched the romantic vibes of Justine’s. At the same time, Marty’s League of Rebels tux looked ultra-chic and stylish–matching the minimalistic decor perfectly. One look at these photos from Junebug member Nikk Nguyen Photo and we’re wishing we were there to drink, eat, and celebrate the very apparent love of this gorgeous couple with them! Why Justine’s Secret House

We picked our venue, Justine’s Secret House, because we’ve shared dozens of lovely meals there together. Over time the aesthetic, menu, and general vibe have become a big part of who we are and what we love about Austin–especially our East Side neighborhood. Marty and I designed our home when we remodeled on the East Side in 2015, and Justine’s Secret House felt like having our wedding in our house/backyard—but better, because we had such talented chefs, servers, bartenders, and event staff at our disposal.

A Very Intimate Ceremony & Friend-Filled Reception

Marty and I had a very specific vision for our wedding from the moment we first started talking about getting married—we wanted it to be intimate and soulful. We wanted to focus on our favorite things in life: good food, good drinks, good music, beautiful spaces, close friends and family, and each other. We had a family-only ceremony and relaxed seated dinner before a cocktail party with 70 more close friends. Our mostly nontraditional day was perfect.

A Memorable Piano Performance

Justine’s Secret House has a piano in the main dining room, so I think both of us agree that our favorite part of the wedding was when I sang Marty a song by her favorite musician–10 Million Miles by Patty Griffin. She put this song on the very first of eight CDs and playlists she’s made for me. Marty loved hearing it and being surprised, and I loved surprising her.

California Rustic Wedding at Cordiano Winery

September 18, 2020 | riley

High school sweethearts Taylor and Tyler’s rustic wedding at Cordiano Winery was the perfect mix of romantic and whimsical. The couple hired Sisti & Co. to help them create a day that was an authentic celebration of their years of love. With soft pink decor, an abundance of pink and white flowers, and lush greenery, the couple’s vision of an intimate day at a winery came to life in a truly breathtaking way.

If romantic bridal fashion is your thing, we can’t wait for you to see Taylor’s Willowby by Watters a-line lace tulle gown paired with sparkly floral Badgley Mischka heels. The dress perfectly matched the dreamy vibes of the day. With all of the thoughtful goodness, we’re thankful that talented photographer and Junebug member Kami Olavarria was there to capture every sentimental detail—including portraits with the family dogs.

A Memorable First Look

The most memorable part of our day was the first look. We went back and forth on whether the first time we’d see each other that day would be at the ceremony or during a first look. Both shaking, and tears falling as soon as we saw each other—we are so over the moon that we chose to make that a special moment for just us.  It was a moment of excitement and relief at the same time that our day was finally here, and it was just getting started.

Personalizing the Ceremony With A Close Officiant

Neither of us are religious and we wanted our ceremony to still hold that level of importance. We chose a mutual best friend of ours to officiate. He did such an incredible job—you could feel the love, friendship, and humor. Everyone said that our ceremony was “totally us,” and we wouldn’t want it any other way.

A Sweet Wedding Day Surprise

I surprised my new husband with a gelato cart during the reception. It was worth it when I saw him dancing his little butt off with a cup of mint chocolate chip gelato and a huge smile!

Vintage-Inspired Nashville Wedding at Wilburn Street Studio

September 17, 2020 | riley

Audrey and Isaiah are the quintessential vintage-loving couple who wanted every detail of their wedding at Wilburn Street Studio to emit classy old-school vibes. Inspired by Audrey’s love for thrifting, she–along with her sisters–went on endless trips to Goodwill to collect glassware, books, and figurines to use as decor for their special day. Doing all of the planning themselves, the couple created a day that was nothing short of rustic and charming.

One of our favorite aspects? Audrey’s Grace Kelly inspired Emmie Phelps Thompson wedding dress! She looked as if she had stepped out of the Golden Age of Hollywood as a rising starlet. Ready to see the chic affair? Keep scrolling to see the beautiful photos captured by Swak Photography–and be prepared to be transported back in time.

The Vintage Hollywood Inspired Bridal Look

I knew I wanted more of a vintage, Hollywood vibe for my hair and make-up. I have always loved Grace Kelly’s look, so I did have that in mind when I described the general aesthetic I wanted for my wedding day look. The dress was inspired by one I had coveted for a long time by a New York designer but knew I would not be able to afford it. I had a wonderful friend who made the dress for me, and it turned out so wonderfully! I decided on this dress because I felt it was a nod to the vintage era, but still very modern.

DIYing the Entire Wedding

I DIYed almost everything. My family was such a HUGE part of it all, and we could not have pulled it off without them. The archway made out of PVC pipe was my Dad’s handiwork, and we spray painted it gold. My older sister helped me thrift for weeks and designed all of my flowers–even my bouquet! My younger sisters helped decorate and painted signs for gifts, the entrance, etc. I pulled my apartment apart for the decor and used glassware, books, and figurines for almost all of the decorations. I was even collecting greenery the day before the wedding while walking around Nashville! It was a lot of work, but it was truly my style and a dream to collaborate with my sisters on this big day!

Wedding Advice From the Bride

Don’t get too caught up on the small, truly insignificant stuff. A lot of our day in the planning stages was dictated by what we could afford and make happen in Nashville while living in Atlanta. So many factors changed from what I wanted to what we could physically make happen. When frustration set in, I always told myself not to lose sight of why I was doing all of it–to marry the man I love and celebrate our new life together. I always made an effort to enjoy the moment and not get caught up in what I simply couldn’t make work.
