Add A Boutonniere

Just like a bouquet, the groom’s boutonniere is a great way to tie together the wedding theme—especially for fall weddings. By using warm florals that match the color palette, dried fall materials, and feathers, something as simple as the boutonniere takes your wardrobe to the next level.

Spice Up Your Footwear with Boots And Socks

An often underutilized wedding day accessory is the groom’s footwear. The color, style, and brand of shoe all pay homage to the groom’s attire. For fall weddings, try ditching the classic Oxford shoe for a pair of boots! This is the perfect way to add an adventurous and warm touch to your wedding day outfit.

Add Earrings and Ear Cuffs

Jewelry is a subtle addition that can dress up any outfit. For stylish grooms, we’re all for incorporating your personality into your look by adding earrings or ear cuffs.

Island Chic Hawaiian Garden Wedding at Kualoa Ranch

September 13, 2020 | riley

There’s nothing quite as magical as a tropical wedding under the Hawaiian sun while overlooking the Pacific’s translucent teal waters. Denice and Bryan’s island-chic garden wedding at Kualoa Ranch was a beach lover’s dream come true. With the help of Finishing Touch Hawaii, the couple’s day had the perfect touches of decor and color that didn’t distract from the island’s natural beauty. We love how Denice’s Allison Webb floral jacquard ballgown matches the white and green florals from Yvonne Design. Not to mention her second mermaid silhouette gown from Martina Liana made her look as if she had just jumped right out of the sea and into the photos.

With rentals from Pacific Party Rentals and Aloha Artisans, the pair transformed the outdoor ceremony space into a beautifully simple reception space. It was complete with airy linens, flowers galore, twinkle lights, and a personalized marquee sign from Designed with Aloha. Bryan’s niece, Allison Slater of Uncharted Elopements–who’s a well-established wedding photographer in Phoenix–beautifully captured every special detail and candid moment. If you’ve dreamed of a tropical affair, we can’t wait for you to see these breathtaking images!

The Couple:

Denice and Bryan

The Wedding:

Kualoa Ranch Paliku Gardens, Oahu, Hawaii

Why Kualoa Ranch

Hawai’i was always my dream–without a doubt. So I felt so blessed to be able to actually plan for it. I love all the islands but once I came across Kualoa on Instagram, I was sold. The incredible ocean view with the ‘Chinaman’s Hat’ island–Mokoli’i–coupled with the steep Jurassic-looking mountains all in one location, was perfect for me.

Personalizing Their Ceremony with a Unity Candle Lighting

We had a lighting of the unity candle ceremony. Each child of ours read individual scripture readings that our officiant chose, and then we all met around a table set next to our ceremony riser to light the unity candle all at once. Bryan’s nephew, Matthew Slater, was also our officiant. He was exceptional, and it made our ceremony that much more personal.

The Neutral Color Palette

Our colors were neutrals that were complementary to the destination. I wanted everyone to wear colors within our ‘island chic’ palette for pictures as we were a small group. We had both fathers wear the same thing–head to toe–and the mothers wore the same color dresses. Bryan wore the only dark suit.

An Unforgettable Rain Shower

One unforgettable memory was witnessing everyone I love dancing until the very end of the night–even after a typical short-lived rain shower later in the evening. The locals told us that this type of short, light, misty rain is a blessing on your wedding day.

Classy Rustic Los Angeles Wedding at The 1909

September 12, 2020 | riley

Simple yet classic backyard-vibes are some of our favorites when it comes to weddings–especially for those looking for a more lowkey event. And although Kelsey and Adam’s LA wedding at The 1909 wasn’t in their backyard, it felt exactly like that.

Complete with an outdoor ceremony and taco dinner underneath the lush trees and a night full of dancing, drinks, and donuts, the couple’s wedding was nothing short of elegant. The stunning neutral floral designs from Bloom Babes perfectly matched the minimalist table decor and romantic twinkle lights to create a night full of love. We’re so thankful that Brocoff Photography was there to capture this fairytale-esque evening because we simply can’t get enough.

The Couple:

Kelsey and Adam

The Wedding:

The 1909, Los Angeles, California

Personalizing the Wedding

Adam and I wanted to save something for just the two of us to share, so we ended up writing our vows and reading them privately before the ceremony. We also had Eddie–our dog–walk down the aisle just before I did. It was hilarious. He knows how to work the crowd, and it was sweet to have him by my side throughout the ceremony.

Simple Wedding Vibes at The 1909

We went with a clean, simple, backyard BBQ kind of style, with 100 of our closest friends and family. The ceremony and dinner took place outdoors, so you actually felt like you were in a beautiful backyard. After we finished tacos and speeches, we went inside the venue for a night full of dancing and live performances!

Planning A Wedding On A Budget

Adam and I were somewhat on a budget–hello down payment on a house in LA–so we didn’t want to go overboard on decorations or stuff we’d never see/use again. Whenever we discussed something we wanted to purchase and pricing was in question, we’d ask ourselves if we’d ever use it again–that helped decide if we needed it or could live without it.

The Most Memorable Moment Featuring the Family Dog

It’s true when they say the whole day goes by in a blink. It was the quickest day of my life, and every second was my favorite. If I had to choose just one, it would probably be when we sat down for dinner. We had a sweetheart table, so we could see all of our favorite people chatting with one another. The sun was setting, and the string lights throughout the yard were glowing. Our dog, Eddie, came over to us and laid down by our feet, Adam and I squeezed each other’s hand and looked at each other with a smile as if to say “we did it!” It was a special moment that I’ll never forget.
