Parisian Burgundy Autumn Wedding at Cercle Suédois

November 26, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Trips to Paris are always a good idea. Any destination wedding as gorgeous as Piper and Tarek’s has us pulling out maps and packing bags to escape to faraway places. With the glowing Eiffel Tower as a backdrop and the dark burgundy color palette, this Parisian autumn wedding at Cercle Suédois will make you fall in love.

Elodie at La Petite Agence brought the couple’s cultures and personalities together in this gorgeous ceremony from start to finish. Thankfully, Anais from Moonrise Photography captured all the details of this ceremony. Keep scrolling to see how magical this Paris wedding truly was.

Personalized Wedding

The most important thing to us was keeping the wedding very “us.” We didn’t want to follow too many rules, guidelines, or keep anything too traditional. Any opportunity to highlight our personalities—through decor, outfits, music, and details—we took. We even invited everyone to the dance floor after one minute of our first dance. What better way to celebrate our new union by inviting everyone we love to do the first dance with us? Our best friend, Jean, was the officiant and he read the ceremony and translated the vows in both English and Lebanese.

Two Cultures Came Together At Cercle Suédois

Since Tarek and I met in Paris, but are from opposite sides of the world, we really wanted to blend all of the cultures together. We blended French, Lebanese, and American ideas and traditions into the whole day. The most memorable part of the evening was seeing both sides of the family—who had just met—dancing together.  Seeing both sides of the family having a fantastic time with both American and Lebanese music was so much fun. Having guests from many corners of the Earth celebrate with us is something we will never forget.

Wedding Fashion In Paris Is A Must

Since it was almost winter, I wanted to wear a long-sleeved dress and I found the perfect one at Bridal Boutique in Lewisville, Texas. For my overall look, I wanted a slightly smokey makeup look and retro waves. The jewelry was a mix of old and new pieces. My earrings were a gift from Tarek years ago. The other pieces included an antique necklace from my grandmother, my mother’s garter, and my late father’s bow tie—which was wrapped around my bouquet. Tarek had a custom burgundy suit made at Massimo Dutti. He is very fashionable, so a regular black suit wouldn’t cut it. His outfit included a smoking jacket with black satin details and slim-cut pants. The groomsmen wore black suits with matching burgundy bow ties and pocket squares. My bridesmaids wore any full-length dress they liked, and they coordinated colors by pairs—two green, two black, and two burgundy.

Wedding Advice From The Bride

Definitely hire a planner for day-of coordination! Having a team handle the details of setting up and coordination really took the burden off of Tarek, me, and our family and friends. We could then enjoy every moment of the day at Cercle Suédois without worrying about if things were going as planned or not—we just had to make sure we were on time!

Earthy PNW-Inspired Wedding at Lake Creek Lodge

November 25, 2020 | riley

We’re all about sustainable weddings here at Junebug, and Alex and Wolf’s earthy PNW-inspired wedding at Lake Creek Lodge is no exception. The couple—who love everything outdoorsy—hired planner AE Creative to turn the historic cabins into a wildflower wonderland. Alex and Wolf planted flowers along the pathway to the ceremony while florist Summer Robbins filled the tented reception space with an abundance of greenery and sunflowers. Not to mention, hand-made and hand-delivered Alex’s intricate flower crown.

Although we could go on forever about the natural and DIY touches the couple added to the day, we think Abby of AE Creative summed it up perfectly.

Abby of AE Creative On The Day

The wedding was a wildflower woodland dream. Alex and Wolf are avid outdoors lovers and skilled climbers. The year leading up to their wedding, they lived in their converted van with their rescue dog, Dude. They spent the year traveling to national parks, climbing, and living life to the fullest. They try to tread a lighter footprint for their wedding day–literally by being barefoot the majority of the day–which also encouraged guests to kick off their shoes and enjoy the forest floor beneath their feet.

We created camping mugs with a custom design of their van on the side that guests used to find their seats and toast to the couple. Every detail was thought through with nature in mind. All of the florals were locally grown, their food menu used local organic ingredients, and no single-use plastics were used. The venue has onsite cabins for about 60 people, so most of the guests were able to stay onsite together for a true wild Oregon wedding weekend!

Natural Wedding Day Vibes

We wanted an approachable and naturally beautiful wedding that welcomed our loved ones and brought them in to celebrate our love. Our lives are centered around the outdoors and the peace it can bring. Because of this, we wanted natural elements in every possible place. We even planted native wildflowers along the pathway guests walked to the ceremony site. The ceremony set the stage for the whole day, taking place in the forest along a stream. We stood under giant douglas fir and ponderosa pines with beautiful floral installations that appeared to have grown over our archway and along the aisles. We wanted everyone to feel comfortable while being surrounded by love and nature.

An Emotional Walk Down The Aisle

The most memorable part of the day was seeing my husband tear up at the ceremony as my Dad and I walked down the aisle. We both felt so relaxed. I was barefoot walking through the forest toward my partner on pine needles. It was unbelievably peaceful. I was so calm and happy from the inside out.

The Bride Emphasised The Importance of a Planner

Try to find a wedding planner that really understands your dynamic and that values what you both think is important. Our wedding wasn’t large, but the opportunity to have a full planner—and her team—helping us made the whole experience less stressful and full of joy. A planner is more worth it than an expensive dress or cake, in my opinion.

Custom Wedding Favors

We gave camp mugs created by Abby at AE Creative that had a custom graphic of our Pro-master van we lived in. They were pure magic. I’ve seen guests using them to this day and they’ve even been used as basil planters. That connection to the earth makes us smile.

Natural Light Floods This Elegant Old Port of Montreal Wedding

November 24, 2020 | riley

Marisa and Kamil’s elegant Old Port of Montreal wedding is modern meets old Hollywood glamour, and we can’t get enough. The couple hired expert planner Elyna Kudish who transformed the Montreal Science Center into a space full of velvet accents, romantic candlelight, extravagant white florals from Atelier Carmel, and pops of sage green. We can’t get enough of the modern marble-inspired cake from Yuki Bakery.

Photographers and Junebug members Joel & Justyna captured the essence of the day, including a romantic taxi ride to the venue and love-filled portraits on Montreal’s cobblestone streets. So, keep scrolling to see the beauty of their day because these photos are truly worth a thousand words.

A Memorable First Look

We had initially hesitated about seeing each other before the ceremony. We wanted to keep some tradition. However, we ultimately decided on doing a first look, and we are so glad that we did. It was one of the most intimate moments that we shared that day—apart from our vows, of course— the other was our first dance. We had the opportunity just to share some moments of calm with one another before things got hectic. Most of the day after that first look was a blur and seemed to pass by so quickly, so having that time before the festivities was priceless.

Why an Old Port of Montreal Wedding

Our venue was located in the Old Port of Montreal. We were both born and raised in Montreal, and the Old Port has special significance to us. We were looking for a blank canvas with lots of natural light and an open feel. Our venue provided us with an abundance of natural light throughout the ceremony and into the early evening.

The Importance of A Planner

We had the privilege of working with an amazing wedding planner, Elyna Kudish, who helped us bring our vision to life. She was there with us every step of the way. We explained our vision of a clean, elegant, modern feel that incorporated our Caribbean roots. She was able to help us bring that to fruition through the venue, decor, entertainment, and food. We couldn’t have done it without her.
