These Musicians Said I Do in a Perfectly Artistic Strongwater Wedding

August 15, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

The Strongwater in Columbus, Ohio was the perfect backdrop for Frances and Kurt’s industrial, DIY wedding. With homemade invitations, centerpieces, and bouquets, these musicians used their creative and artistic abilities during the wedding planning process. Their reception turned into one giant dance party thanks to to their DJ, Mark Dantzer — what better way to celebrate two musicians coming together in holy matrimony. The day would not have been complete without the talented photographer duo of Rosey Red Photography.

The Couple:

Frances and Kurt

The Wedding:

Strongwater, Columbus, Ohio

We wanted this wedding to be us. We are very laid back, musically creative people so when we started planning our wedding, the two things that we both agreed were most important were the music and the photos. We wanted awesome music so that our guests would have an amazing time and we wanted awesome photographers to capture that amazing time. Luckily, we got both! Our DJ, Mark Dantzer, was incredible and kept everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) on the dance floor for three hours straight. And our photographers, Ashley and Ben of Rosey Red Photography, were a dream come true!

I think everyone that attended our wedding would agree that the most memorable part of the day came during our ceremony. My hometown pastor from Cincinnati, Ohio gives very honest and touching sermons, and he did not hold back at our wedding. His sermon was all about spreading our light into the world – he tied it in to a song that mine and Kurt’s band, Kid Runner, wrote called “Illuminate.” He then presented us with a very large life-like portrait of Kurt and I’s faces with the words “I’m alive, can you feel me shining” on it. Needless to say, it was pretty unforgettable.

My advice would be don’t stress TOO much over planning a wedding. It is your wedding day and you want it to be perfect. In the end though, it’s all about you, your partner, and everyone that you care about there celebrating with you.

We are so lucky that we found photographers who understood us and our style! We immediately bonded with Ashley and Ben over music, Columbus, and life in general. So on our wedding day, it was like hanging out with old friends. The awesome thing about them is that they just let us be ourselves. We got to laugh, joke around, and get away from the wedding madness for a few hours. And we got some absolutely amazing photos from it.

We designed all the centerpieces – over the course of 6 months, we collected cool mason jars and vases from the thrift store. We ordered baby’s breath in bulk for all the tables and the bridesmaid bouquets, and my dad cut and carved over 40 wooden trays for all the tables. It was a lot of work but I think the result was absolutely beautiful!

This Swiss Fairy Tale Wedding at Gasthaus Schupfen Includes a Literal White Stallion

August 14, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

This Gasthaus Schupfen wedding is straight out of a fairytale! Jasmin and Per’s day was nothing short of magic — privately exchanging letters in the woods, a small intimate ceremony, and riding a white stallion. They included close friends by having one officiant the ceremony and another one be their DJ. Dani Rodriguez of Bring Me Somewhere Nice was there to capture their dreamy wedding day and focused on the small, in-between moments.

The Couple:

Jasmin and Per

The Wedding:

Gasthaus Schupfen, Diessenhofen, Switzerland

One of our best friends, who we have known for over 30 years, did our ceremony. He already knew a lot about us, but we still did some Q/A-sessions, drank wine, and talked about mine and my husband’s relationship.

It was important for us to choose a product from the place where we live- we gave away small glasses of honey for the boys, and lipbalm made out of bees wax for the girls. Both products are from an urban bee keeper in Zurich!

One of the most memorable moments was the time we shared together alone in the woods – only with our photographer, Dani. It was his idea to let us write down some words that we would like to share only with each other on this day- it was so great to have a few minutes only for us. Dani turned on one of our favourite songs – ‘Wild Horses’ by The Rolling Stones! With this short moment away from the crowd, our photographer got us one of the loveliest moments on our day – just amazing and simply magic!

A wedding day surprise was the horse. It is very cool to have some pictures of yourself on a horse with your wedding dress on! You can ride it if you like horses, and you can also include your husband easily with it – very very cool!

Processional: We Don’t Eat by James Vincent McMorrow
Recessional: Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones
Wedding Dance: Only Time Will Tell by Etta James
First Dance Song: Gimme Some Lovin’ by Spencer Davis Group
Last Dance Song: Tijuana Taxi by Herb Alpert

The most important thing was a dress I could easily dance in! During the civil ceremony, a day before the actual wedding, I wore a mermaid dress that was more elegant, but I could never do the dance moves that I did during our big wedding party!
