This elegant New Year’s Eve wedding blends timeless style with personal touches and high-energy entertainment.
Some love stories feel written in the stars—this one was written on an ID card. When Alanah and Michael first met in a college bar, they realized they shared the exact same birthday, down to the year. “We joked around wondering who was born earlier,” Alanah recalls. “Turns out, I actually beat him by five hours! At that moment, I felt as if it was fate, and it was a sign from above that we were meant to meet and be together.”
Fast forward to their wedding day, and fate led them to an elegant New Year’s Eve wedding at the Ryland Inn, an equestrian estate with grand chandeliers, rustic charm, and a ballroom fit for an unforgettable celebration. The night was filled with romance, elegance, and a midnight countdown that turned their big day into the ultimate NYE party.

Finding the Perfect Venue to Match their Elegant New Year’s Eve Wedding Vision
When the couple first visited the Ryland Inn, they instantly knew it was the one. “When I first went to look at the venue, I was in awe of the traditional white and black property surrounded by spacious land, bordered with a white fence,” Alanah shares. “The Grand Ballroom was just what I was looking for, with beautiful French doors, natural wood, and windows that made the space feel open and romantic.”
To enhance the space, From Peonies to Paintchips, transformed the room with lush floral arrangements, candlelit ambiance, and an incredible floral arch surrounding the fireplace. “There wasn’t one place you could look where you would find a bare spot.”
Wedding Planning Without a Planner—How She Pulled It Off
Alanah took charge of the planning process, starting with inspiration from social media. “I followed accounts that gave me ideas of what I wanted. With each picture I screenshotted, I began an album on my phone labeled ‘Wedding Planning.’ Soon, a bunch of screenshots became a vision board, and I was able to piece it all together.”
She also leaned on family experience, working with some of the same vendors her sister used for her 2019 wedding. “I saw how picture-perfect my sister’s wedding was and thought to myself, “I hope my wedding day looks just like hers.’”
A First Look to Remember
One of the most intimate moments of the day was the couple’s first look. “It was just me and him, and we could enjoy our company together without any spectators,” Alanah shares. “The forest green trees in the background, me waiting for him to turn around to see his expression… he was so happy, and in that moment, I felt butterflies all over again, as if it was the first time I met him.”
Personal Touches That Made Their Elegant New Year’s Eve Wedding Ceremony Extra Special
For Alanah, walking down the aisle with both her mom and dad wasn’t just a choice—it was a must. “Both my mom and dad played a crucial part in who I am today. I wanted them both to get the recognition they deserve.” This heartfelt decision set the tone for a ceremony filled with meaningful moments.
Another deeply personal touch was the couple’s decision to write their own vows. The couple wanted their promises to each other to be raw and authentic, a true reflection of their love. “I was shaking and crying as I read them, but I received so many compliments afterward about how touching they were and how they filled the room with love.”
After the ceremony, Alanah shared an intimate moment with her bridesmaids, mom, and mother-in-law in a private room upstairs. Each of them took turns sharing one thing they loved about her and Michael. “While it was a little moment, it was so special. Hearing my favorite people express what makes us special as a couple and how we’ve impacted their lives was the ultimate confidence booster—something every bride deserves on her wedding day.”
A High-Energy New Year’s Eve Bash with Martinis and Live Entertainment
No New Year’s Eve wedding is complete without a high-energy celebration, and Alanah and Michael made sure their guests experienced an unforgettable night. With The Clara Jordan Band from Hank Lane setting the tone, the dance floor stayed packed, and guests were decked out in festive NYE glasses and hats personalized with the couple’s names and wedding date.
“When the clock was just about to strike 12, they began to sing ‘I Gotta Feeling’ and do a countdown. When the clock hit midnight, I remember looking around the room, seeing so many people who had watched us grow up, and taking a mental snapshot of that moment. There are not many times where your closest friends and family are together in one room bringing in the new year surrounded by so much love.”
To elevate the celebration even further, the couple added a unique, personal touch—a custom espresso martini ice luge. “We thought it would be the perfect addition for an elegant New Year’s Eve wedding since we planned to party all night,” Alanah shares. Engraved with their initials, the ice luge added a fun and luxurious element to the reception, keeping guests entertained and the energy high well past midnight.

Budgeting for What Matters Most
One of the biggest challenges in wedding planning is budgeting, and Alanah and Michael approached it strategically. “We decided to allocate our funds in the areas we thought were most important for the day. This included the venue, food and top-shelf liquor, the florist, and the photographer, and videographer.”
With a two-year engagement, they had time to plan and save. Alanah even created a spreadsheet to track expenses, ensuring they could have the dream celebration without unnecessary stress.
Alanah’s heartfelt advice: “Remember your reason WHY. Social media makes it easy to compare. But at the end of the day, this is about you and your person. Celebrate your love in the way that feels most authentic to you.
