Classic Meets Boho in This Chic El Paso Wedding

May 19, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Understated, sophisticated, bohemian, and classic are all the words we’d use to describe Jessica and Alex’s El Paso wedding! This dynamic couple paid homage to their Mexican culture by using a rainbow of jewel tones, displaying handmade Spanish and English table numbers, and serving Mexican hot chocolate in traditional mugs at the end of the reception. The bride also channeled ’40s Mexican cinema actress style with a chic Rosá Clara ballgown for the ceremony — and then let loose with a sparkly BHLDN dress for the reception. Although the couple’s styles differ, Fawn Events helped them tie them all together into a cohesive look that Jordy B Photo captured in brilliant detail. We are especially smitten with their personal touches of a cigar bar, primping station for the photo booth, and custom neon quote created by Big Media Signs.

Jessica and Alex

The Wedding:

The Church of St. Clement and Private Residence, El Paso, Texas

I wanted to look classic and natural, and most of all, like me. My inspiration was drawn from classic Mexican cinema actresses in the ’40s. The look was chic and effortless. My wedding dress was everything I never knew I wanted! I swore I would never wear a ball gown, but once I slipped into my dress it was over. It was simple, not fussy, and had pockets.

We gave out a few wedding favors. Each place card was handmade out of hand pressed paper with gold foil and hand painted calligraphy. We also served Mexican Hot chocolate towards the end of the night in authentic Mexican clay mugs called jarritos. We wanted to make sure we honored our heritage with touches throughout.

My mom DIYed each table using Spanish clay tiles. She has the best handwriting so she wrote each number in English and Spanish.

Cozy Industrial Seattle Wedding at Axis Pioneer Square

May 18, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

We are so into the cozy vibes Meghan and Kash created for their winter wedding at Axis Pioneer Square. This venue features Seattle’s iconic red brick architecture, and the couple didn’t want to distract from that unique characteristic. So they kept their palette clean with whites/creams, greys, greens, and subtle pops of mixed metallics and relied on candlelight to set a romantic mood. This crafty couple DIYed nearly every detail, from the signage to the Irish Blessing guestbook, and the overall look was as charming as could be. The bride’s Justin Alexander lace gown and pearl-studded hairpiece were as effortless as the decor and echoed the natural, simple vibe the couple created throughout the entire day. Photographer duo Nick Plus Danée outdid themselves in capturing the understated elegance of this Seattle wedding and stole our hearts with the couple’s sweet first look on the rooftop.

The Couple:

Meghan and Kash

The Wedding:

Axis Pioneer Square, Seattle, Washington

My usual style is very simple, so I was afraid that a wedding look wouldn’t reflect who I am if I did too much. I decided on neutral, light colors. Luckily, my makeup artists double as a long time friend, so we did a few trials to determine what we would go with. Due to the neckline and back of my dress, wearing my hair up was a no brainer. Curled pieces around my face helped accomplish the romantic look I was going for. Trust in my beauty advisors is really how I got my wedding beauty look. I loved the cut of my dress. It worked perfect for my body, which made me feel really beautiful. The overall lace prompted me to choose very simple accessories, which included my maternal grandmother’s pearl necklace (I wore as a bracelet) and my paternal grandmother’s pearl earrings.

Since our wedding was in January, we wanted a cozy, intimate vibe. We accomplished that by pairing candles and whites/creams with the raw brick. The flowers, lace and calligraphy added a romantic feel. It was simple and worked really well together.

Around 90% of our wedding was DIY. The mother of the bride created a portion of the floral displays using fake flowers for different decorative arrangements. The signage, programs, favors, blessing stones (guest book), and dessert bar were all DIY.

The goal of our wedding (besides becoming husband and wife) was to celebrate our love and commitment to each other with our family and friends. So naturally, we opted for a short ceremony. Kash‘s stepfather was our officiant and he worked with us on a script. It was short, sweet, and very meaningful.

Small details go a long way. The best part about small details is they can be very inexpensive. Pay attention to the little things. Alone they may seem insignificant, but added up they truly contribute to the whole atmosphere.

This Victorian-Inspired Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate Wedding Will Make You Want to Go Antique

May 18, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

The Victorian feel of Julia and Ryan’s wedding at Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate was nothing short of incredible. The grandeur of the venue was swoon-worthy on its own but the magic of this wedding was in the curated details, such as the couple’s cameo cake topper, wedding newspapers, framed photos, and antique book centerpieces. Lois Mathews Design finished off the table designs with overflowing greenery and roses to match the rose arches located in the venue’s lush gardens. The entire look was vintage elegance at its best and had the secret garden vibes the couple wanted to create. The true showstopper, though, was Julia’s regal bridal look, which included a Galina Signature gown and 110-year-old golden myrtle crown from Berlin that she wore with a long veil. Joel & Justyna‘s distinctive photography style was perfectly suited for capturing the ethereal quality and Victorian look of this California wedding.

The Couple:

Julia and Ryan

The Wedding:

Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate, San Marcos, California

I wore an ivory and champagne lace and silk dress with a sheer back. a 110 year old golden myrtle crown from Berlin, and a custom made long veil with blusher. I have very long hair that I wore down in loose waves and I felt like a queen. My shoes were gold Vince Camuto low wedges and delicate diamond and gold pendant earrings that looked like flowers. Two of my bridesmaids wore champagne-colored floor-length gown with halter necks and the other (my sister) wore a floor-length silk gold off the shoulder dress. I wanted a regal, yet soft and feminine look. Ethereal was the aim.

Twin Oaks House & Garden Estate had everything I wanted. A private, dense and well-maintained Victorian garden, rose covered arches, an old-fashioned swing, and a historical Vvictorian building on site.

My favorite moment was walking with my father down the aisle and turning the corner to see my husband (for the first time that day) wink at me (’cause he knew I needed to breathe and relax). Groom’s first reactions are my favorite part of any wedding.

Don’t compromise on things that are non-negotiable to you and remember that VERY FEW things are really THAT important.

We wanted to create an experience that took you out of reality. I wanted it to feel like you stepped back in time into the secret garden. That is why the venue, the flowers, and the photography were the most important things to me.
