Stylish Earthy Colorado Wedding at Chautauqua Park

September 12, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

After a couple of years doing the long distance thing, Blair and Blake decided to have their destination wedding at Chautauqua Park in Boulder, Colorado. Having had their first date and first kiss in Colorado, it was destined for them to head back to the Centennial State to promise their love to one another. The details and warm tones in Blair’s dreamy BHLDN gown goes perfectly with the Colorado golden sun, and use of greenery during the reception brings in the outdoors in. Nicole Veldman Photography + Video ventured out to Colorado with Blair and Blake, and she perfectly captured their sweet love.

The Couple:

Blair and Blake

The Wedding:

Chautauqua Park, Boulder, Colorado

The most important part of planning our wedding was making it feel genuinely “us.” We didn’t want to choose anything “just because.” We made each decision based on our individual and unique style as a couple!

My mom and I did all of the planning for our wedding. This was a much bigger task than I realized, but it turned out beautiful and exactly as I envisioned! I will say, looking back, it would have been very helpful if we designated certain conversations to be strictly wedding planning or strictly mom/daughter time. My mom and I would get really overwhelmed when every conversation turned into talking about the wedding! Sometimes I just needed to talk to my mom!

For my bridesmaids and maid of honor I really wanted them to feel themselves and comfortable. I personally don’t like the tradition of giving each one of my beautifully unique friends the same dress. I wanted them to express who they were and what looks best on them. I gave them a color pallet and let them choose the dress, style and color on their own. Naturally they looked beautiful together!!

We wrote our ceremony script, and my uncle was our officiant. We also didn’t designate sides because we wanted it to be a merging of families!

Blake and I were in a long distance relationship (12 hours apart) for 2 years. Colorado is where we met, went on our first date, said we loved each other and is where we want to live one day. Naturally we decided on a destination wedding there. We decided on Boulder because it was close enough to the airport honestly and we chose Chautauqua Park because of the gorgeous scenery and wanting to be married outside in the mountains. I found d our reception venue online without ever visiting but thought it was gorgeous and it was right on the river.

Our wedding colors were neutrals and greenery. There wasn’t really a strict color pallet, I knew I wanted the place exploding with greenery because I love plants and the neutrals were an easy addition. I wanted everything to feel very earthy and natural!

If you know me at all, you know my love for tacos. We hired a food truck to serve chips, salsa and guacamole during cocktail hour and had tacos for dinner!

Lots of people helped me DIY a few things for the day! One of my bridesmaids lives in the Denver area and made our donut wall. I painted one of our favorite verses on a banner for the reception and all of the greenery at the reception was put together by the ladies in my family! We also bought a plain cake and I quickly added greenery to it on the day of – we saved a lot of money DIYing some of the flowers.

Nicole is amazing. She’s hilarious and professional and was incredible at wrangling our crazy family and wedding party for photos! Her style of photos are so warm and elegant and exactly what we wanted for our Colorado wedding. One of my favorite parts of the day was when she was taking photos on the dance floor while dancing around with everyone! It was hilarious and made everyone feel so comfortable! We feel honored to get to call her a friend now.

Passionate Waterfall Elopement Inspiration at Falling Springs Falls

September 11, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

This waterfall elopement inspiration will have you and your person wanting to go explore. With a colorful bouquet by Katrina Highley in one hand and kombucha in the other, Kiersten was ready for a day of hiking with her love, Corey. These sweethearts have a natural chemistry and Alex Mari Photography captured their passion and adoration for each other effortlessly. Here’s a little more insight from the photographer on the day:

“Kiersten and Corey are boyfriend and girlfriend and were such naturals in front of the camera! We all took a little road trip to Falling Springs Falls, a stunning tourist attraction in Virginia. Kiersten and Corey were the ultimate adventurers and hiked down to the falls in their wedding clothes. It was a life long dream of Kiersten’s to have photos taken at a waterfall, so it was a magical day for everyone. After we finished up, the couple popped open some fizzy bottles of kombucha to celebrate.”

Boho Tulum Destination Wedding at Ak’iin Beach Club

September 11, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

When planning their wedding, Casie and Peter knew they wanted their family and friends to have a great time. They packed their bags and headed to Ak’iin Beach Club for their barefoot celebration. Playing off of the beach, they went for a relaxed and fun vibe while having touches of bohemian flair and pops of indigo and pinks to decorate the space. The beautiful details and joy of their wedding day is evident in Melissa Marshall‘s images.

The Couple:

Casie and Peter

The Wedding:

Ak’iin Beach Club, Tulum, Mexico

We wanted our wedding to feel like a celebration that reflected our relationship. Once we decided to have a destination wedding, we knew we wanted our guests to have an unforgettable time and leave feeling excited about traveling and experiencing new things.

We chose our ceremony location because of the beauty of the hotel. It is very peaceful and provided a great villa for the girls to get ready away from the groomsmen and other guests with plenty of healthy food options for the day! The ceremony was held in the ocean view yoga room because the beach can be loud and windy. The yoga room also provided privacy from onlookers. We loved the staff at Sanara. Planning a destination wedding requires you to have a lot of confidence in the people who will execute your vision. Lauriane Gerard at Sanara was prompt and knowledgeable from the very first email, so we were set on Sanara from the beginning. She even recommended our wedding planner, Diana!

The whole week was memorable! Tulum is a magical place, which is why we chose it for our wedding. Most guests arrived 3 or 4 days before the wedding, so we got to explore Tulum with our favorite people. We’ve never been on a big family vacation before, so seeing everyone enjoying the beach and getting to know each other was the most memorable part of the wedding.

Stay focused on the point of the day – to celebrate love! Nothing can make you too stressed if you expect a few bumps along the way and remind yourself to enjoy the process.

The reception was at Ak’iin Beach Club, which is just down the beach from Sanara. We liked how much beach was available for a dance floor, and the natural beach bar setting made for a really fun party. The palapas were beautiful and allowed a backup plan in case of rain. It definitely rained on our wedding day, but it stopped right before the ceremony started!

Indigo and dusty rose. We liked that those colors don’t detract from the beauty of the flowers and natural environment. I also thought those colors would look awesome with Melissa’s photography style.

The most memorable part of the actual wedding day was towards the end of the night – when a group of our friends decided to lift us up onto their shoulders while we were all dancing. It was such an organic and euphoric moment, and it made us feel really loved.
