Family-Oriented Muir Beach Wedding at the Pelican Inn

September 10, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Alex and Kiel wanted their big day to be simple, made up only of love, family, the right photographer and the perfect setting, all of which came together beautifully for their intimate and romantic Muir Beach wedding at The Pelican Inn. This charming lodge is nestled above a scenic beach between Muir Woods and the Pacific Ocean, the perfect spot for a dramatic post-wedding shoot. The Moody Romantic photography captured the couple on the beach at sunset, Alex’s Monique Lhuillier gown billowing white against the rocky cliffs and vast west coast. We love how cozy and family-orientated this celebration was! The bride’s grandfather ordained the ceremony, her brother played guitar and her daughter led an adorable flock of flower girls carrying florals by Yellow Thistle Designs.

The Couple:

Alex and Kiel

The Wedding:

The Pelican Inn, Muir Beach, California

I knew for our perfect day we only needed these things: love, family, the right dress, the right photographer, and the right setting. Our wedding planning theme became keeping it simple and going with the flow. Having this mindset, I believe, helped our wedding come together so beautifully and effortlessly. Which really made it that much more unique and enjoyable for us and our family.

Our wedding ceremony was so beautiful…My little brother played Cannon D, on his acoustic guitar, as my four sweet flower girls and I walked down the aisle. My grandfather conducted our ceremony in such a memorable, and very unique way, Kiel, the groom, had everyone in tears as he read his vows to now our daughter, Zoey…then my turn came to give Kiel my vows, it was so amazing and I am so incredibly grateful to have such big love and to have found such an amazing life partner.

Originally we wanted to get married in the Muir Woods, however, there are several rules, that we were not aware of..but this wasn’t a complete dead end for us. I started to look at other venues in the area and I came across the Pelican Inn. It is so unique and breathtakingly perfect!

After dinner family and all went down to the beach to capture some great photographs…it was freezing! Who would have thought?! After our Mr. & Mrs. photoshoot ended everyone was waiting for us in the conservatory where we found our gorgeous Wedding Cake,  it was so delicious!

Get Your Neutral Palette Inspiration From This Rustic Rixey Manor Wedding

September 10, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Dita and Bugra’s classically charming wedding at Rixey Manor featured panoramic views and charming rustic details. The gorgeous wooden door backdrop found at Bride and Joy inspired the rustic theme, contrasted with crystal chandeliers, classic textures and materials like lace and pearls. Champagnes, browns and nudes created a neutral color palette were chosen for a subtle touch to the already beautiful decor. The bride DIY’d all of the flower arrangements with help from her bridesmaids, who wowed in black and ivory Vera Wang. Photographer Alicia Wiley captured the couple and their husky enjoying the sweeping landscape and fields of horses.

The Couple:

Rita and Bugra

The Wedding:

Rixey Manor, Rixeyville, Virginia

The most important thing was that both of us and everyone we care for could take part and be happy on this special day. Everything that happened was feeling both nervous and excited. Seeing everyone coming out one by one from the window during the rehearsal knowing that everything we’ve planned came to this point and all these people were here for me. It helped reduce the nerves on the wedding day.

We gave out customized playing cards because we both love playing games, so does everyone else. Guests get to keep and use them, when they play it would remind them of us. We also gave out customized mint, guests can use as treat after dinner and save the tin for a personal keepsake.

We weren’t going to do anything special for ceremony until I went to Bride and Joy to shop for decor and found a gorgeous wooden door with a cute little chandelier for our back drop.

We DIY’d all the flower arrangements except bride’s bouquet. I went to a wholesale flower shop with bridesmaids and on the night before the wedding the girls just had fun playing around designing them.

We both love animals and the feeling of nature. Rustic was the style we went with, it went beautifully with the venue.

Recessional: …don’t remember we were too excited!

This Eclectic Calamigos Ranch Wedding Pulled Inspiration from the Sea and Sky

September 9, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Elemental ambiance was ever-present at Aly and Jason’s romantic and intimate celebration at The Oak Room at Calamigos Ranch. The quiet elegance of their venue’s exposed beams, twinkling lights and rustic Circa Vintage Rentals balanced the personal décor of the bride and groom: geometric accents mixed with earthy neutrals and jewel tones by floral designer Peony & Plum and a collection of geodes and crystals brilliantly arranged by Nicole George Event Planning and Design. The couple drew inspiration from the sea and sky, a reflection of the west coast and the story of their relationship. Kristen Victoria Photography captured the couple’s cool get away in a vintage convertible in an ultra glamorous seaside post-wedding shoot. We love how Aly planned a special surprise for Jason: using dry ice to create a literal cloud for their first dance!

The Couple:

Aly and Jason

The Wedding:

The Oak Room at Calamigos Ranch, Malibu, California

We wanted to bring together different elements that we loved into one eclectic but still intimate and romantic setting. We wanted to keep things organic and earthy while also pulling in sentimental elements from the sky and sea, all significant and personal to our relationship.

It was such a highlight, not only in our wedding, but in our lives, to be able to work with our photographer, Kristen, from Kristen Victoria Photography. We immediately fell in love with her style and we knew from her agreeing to make a camping trip out of our engagement shoot at Joshua Tree that we would be fast friends and that she would be amazing to work with.

We used a ton of our own decor including our personal geode and crystal collection, abalone shells, and geometric accents, including a huge dream catcher that was the focal point of our outdoor setting. Bringing together earthy and jewel tones, as well as boho-romantic and geometric touches really made the whole atmosphere feel like “us”, which we loved being able to share with our guests.

Walking into a room filled with literal love from all of your closest and most beloved family and friends is pretty surreal. To duplicate that at a future event in life is nearly impossible so we definitely had a “once-in-a-lifetime” moment knowing how incredibly precious the entire day would really turn out to be after walking into that room of love!

Our first dance song was a song called “Clouds” by Borns. I had our lighting vendor sneak in a dry ice machine that he turned on for our dance to create a literal CLOUD around us as we danced. It was the first magic trick I’ve pulled on Jason!
