A Junebug Team Member’s Bold, All-Red Wedding at BODE Nashville Broke Every Rule

October 21, 2026 | justine

An all-red color palette, a black retro hotel, food trucks, and a ceremony interrupted by a party bus blasting Usher. Junebug’s very own Vendor Operations and Marketing Coordinator, Kailey, and her husband, Adam, had a very different kind of wedding in mind. At BODE Nashville, they skipped the usual formalities and planned a weekend celebration around good music, great company, and plenty of time on the dance floor.

Their story began thousands of miles away, when Kailey walked into a bar on her first night of solo traveling through England and met Adam. What followed was a long-distance relationship that eventually had them splitting their time between Arizona and Manchester. By the time they gathered their closest family and friends in Nashville, they were already married. The wedding weekend was their chance to bring together the people who had been part of their lives on both sides of the Atlantic.

What We Love About This BODE Nashville Wedding:

  • An all-red color palette of crimson, burgundy, and deeper shades against a black, retro-inspired hotel
  • A wedding dress purchased brand-new at 70% off from charity-supporting boutique Brides for a Cause
  • A party bus blasting Usher just as the couple was about to exchange their vows
  • Food trucks, no traditional speeches, and a reception focused on dancing
  • Wedding cake served for breakfast at the Airbnb the following morning

From a Chance Meeting in England to a Life Across Two Countries

Kailey wasn’t expecting to meet her future husband when she set off on a solo trip through England. But on her very first night, she walked into a bar for a drink and met Adam. They stayed in touch after her travels, and eventually, he flew to Arizona to visit her.

Their relationship quickly became a commitment that required considerable effort. With 5,000 miles between them, they had to decide early on whether they were willing to make it work. Years of traveling between Arizona and Manchester followed, along with the patience and flexibility that came with building a life in two countries. “I knew he was the one when I realized that no amount of distance could make me feel less loved by him. Even 5,000 miles apart, I felt so much love.”

That history also explains why having their loved ones together for the wedding mattered so much. Friends and family who ordinarily lived on different sides of the world could finally share the same space, something Kailey and Adam had spent years navigating themselves.

A Retro Hotel, an All-Red Palette, and No Pressure to Match

Kailey and Adam had a clear idea of how they wanted their wedding to look: bold, retro, and a little unconventional. They weren’t interested in a perfectly coordinated event or following a traditional wedding aesthetic. They wanted their guests to walk in and immediately recognize their personalities.

The black exterior and vintage-inspired atmosphere of BODE Nashville made it an easy choice. Against the hotel’s darker setting, they introduced an almost entirely red color palette, mixing brighter reds and crimsons with burgundies and deeper rose tones. There was no requirement for every shade to match. In fact, they preferred the variation.

Creativity, inclusivity, and a willingness to try something different were high on their list when choosing their vendors. Nashville-based planner Ashley Bri helped them navigate the local wedding scene and coordinate the details from afar.

Their photographer, Emily Snyder, was an especially fitting addition. Emily had been working on a personal challenge to photograph a wedding in all 50 states, and Tennessee was one of the places on her list. For a couple whose relationship had already spanned two countries and 5,000 miles, helping someone else check another destination off her list sounded like a pretty good match.

An Usher Song Interrupted Their Ceremony at BODE Nashville

One of Kailey and Adam’s favorite decisions was asking their close friend Morgan to officiate. Morgan knew them both individually and as a couple, which gave her plenty of material for a ceremony filled with inside jokes, stories, and a few emotional moments.

Then came an interruption nobody could have planned. Just as the couple was about to exchange their vows, a party bus drove past blasting Usher. When Morgan prompted Kailey to say “I do” Kailey responded by singing, “Yeah, yeah!” Everyone burst into laughter.

It was spontaneous, a little ridiculous, and exactly the sort of moment that could only happen at their wedding. Morgan rolled with it, and the ceremony continued with a story everyone would remember.

Making the Most of Their Budget With a Weekend of Celebrations

With guests traveling from various countries and states, Kailey and Adam made the most of their $30,000 budget, stretching it across an entire week of wedding celebrations. They focused their spending on time together, a venue they loved, and a party everyone could enjoy. Since they were already married, they didn’t feel obligated to include every traditional wedding element. Instead, they put their money toward the parts of the celebration they were most excited about.

That included a welcome party at Playdate in Nashville, where guests could mingle over drinks at a private bar and take a turn on the venue’s giant slide. It was a casual alternative to a formal rehearsal dinner and gave friends and family a chance to get acquainted before the wedding.

Keeping the guest list small was one of their tougher decisions. Both had people they would have loved to include, but a smaller gathering gave them more time with those who made the trip.

Even with her experience working at Junebug, Kailey knew the value of having a local expert on their team. She and Adam brought in Nashville-based planner Ashley Bri, whose knowledge of the area’s venues and vendors proved especially helpful when planning from afar. They also wanted to enjoy the process without turning wedding planning into a second job.

A Wedding Dress Find That Was 70% Off

Kailey approached her wedding dress with the same practical mindset she brought to the rest of the planning. She wanted something she loved, but she also wanted to be thoughtful about the cost.

She found her dress at Brides for a Cause, a bridal boutique that sells donated wedding dresses and directs proceeds toward charitable causes. Her dress was brand-new and marked down by 70%.

It was exactly the kind of purchase she had hoped to make: a dress she was excited to wear, substantial savings, and the added benefit of supporting a cause through the purchase.

Food Trucks, No Speeches, and More Time on the Dance Floor

The reception was planned around a straightforward priority: Kailey and Adam wanted to spend as much time as possible celebrating with their guests.

Dinner came from food trucks, keeping things casual. They skipped traditional speeches and didn’t schedule an elaborate dessert service. Neither is particularly interested in sweets, and they preferred to keep the music playing and everyone dancing.

Even their wedding cake followed a different schedule. Instead of serving it during the reception, they saved it for breakfast the following morning at the Airbnb, where everyone could enjoy it together.

For Kailey and Adam, their wedding wasn’t about fitting as many traditions as possible into the day. They were already married, and the celebration was an opportunity to enjoy being in the same place as the people they loved.

The Moment Kailey Wishes She Could Relive

With so much attention given to the party, it might be surprising that Kailey’s favorite memory happened at the very end. Before their grand exit, she looked out a window and saw their family and friends gathered outside, waiting for them. Moments later, she and Adam ran out to cheers and smiling faces.

For the first time that day, Kailey remembers being completely present. “I actually had this very clear thought in my head: ‘Remember this moment, Kailey. This one will stick with you.’ And it has.”

After years of managing an international relationship and bringing together people who ordinarily lived thousands of miles apart, everyone was there, cheering them on.

Their Advice: You Don’t Have to Follow Every Wedding Tradition

As someone who works behind the scenes at Junebug, Kailey knows there’s no shortage of wedding inspiration out there. But when it came to planning her own, she and Adam focused on what mattered to them. “Your goal shouldn’t be to plan a generic wedding. Your goal should be to have everyone walk in and immediately think, ‘Wow. This is so them.'”

They recommend putting money and energy toward the parts of the celebration that matter most to you, even if that means skipping things other people might expect. For them, that meant an all-red wedding at BODE Nashville, a ceremony with an unexpected Usher soundtrack, and a reception where dancing took priority over formalities.

And, of course, wedding cake for breakfast.

This Casa dos Penedos Wedding Made the Most of Every Magical Corner of the Palace

October 20, 2026 | justine

A greenhouse dining room filled with fairy lights, flowers in shades of peach, and a string quartet playing as the couple watched the sunset together. Anna and Gabe’s Casa dos Penedos wedding made full use of the palace’s architecture and sweeping views of Sintra, Portugal. The setting was exactly what Anna had pictured when she imagined a colorful fairytale wedding.

The couple, who met in high school in 2016 and have been together ever since, planned a three-day celebration that began in Lisbon. A boat cruise along the Tagus River and a welcome party at a historic palace gave their guests plenty of time to get acquainted before heading to Sintra for the wedding.

What We Love About This Casa dos Penedos Wedding:

  • A three-day celebration that took guests from Lisbon to Sintra
  • Handpicked songs performed by a string quartet for the ceremony
  • A quiet sunset dance shared by the newlyweds
  • An intimate greenhouse reception beneath fairy lights

A Palace Overlooking Sintra Was Exactly What They Had in Mind

Sintra’s mountains, castles, and historic architecture were a major reason Anna and Gabe chose Portugal for their wedding. Anna had always pictured a colorful fairytale setting, and the town offered plenty of it.

“If you’ve ever been to Sintra, you would understand that it is the perfect place for that,” Anna shares. “Its mountains, castles, and architecture are so magical, it looks like a town in a fairytale.”

When they found Casa dos Penedos, the palace already had much of what they were looking for. Its architectural details and views over Sintra were impressive enough without additional decoration. Flowers coordinated with the building’s peach tones, while the greenhouse dining room was arranged beneath strands of fairy lights.

A String Quartet Accompanied the Ceremony and a Private Sunset Dance

Live music was one of Anna’s favorite parts of the ceremony. The couple selected individual songs for each moment, all performed by a string quartet.

After a year of planning, Anna remembers how happy they were to finally be there with their closest friends and family. The ceremony was a chance to enjoy everything they had spent so long preparing for.

Later, during dinner, Anna and Gabe stepped away for a few minutes together. They watched the sunset and shared a dance from a balcony while the string quartet played. “It was such a beautiful and quiet moment that we got to share together,” Anna recalls.

Two Days of Celebrations Before the Wedding

The festivities began two days before the ceremony with a boat cruise along the Tagus River. Guests had the chance to see Lisbon from the water and spend time together before the wedding day.

The following day, everyone gathered at Palácio Conde D’Óbidos for a welcome party. The historic venue, with its traditional Portuguese azulejo tiles, was another opportunity to enjoy the city’s charming aesthetic.

Both events gave guests time to meet and get to know one another. By the time everyone arrived in Sintra, they had already spent two days celebrating together.

How They Planned Their Destination Wedding From Afar

Most of the planning happened virtually. Anna and Gabe worked closely with their wedding planner, sharing reference photos of how they envisioned different parts of the celebration. Their planner handled the arrangements locally.

“Our wedding planner was amazing at bringing our vision to life,” Anna says. “We communicated with her virtually leading up to the wedding and sent her pictures of how we wanted every aspect of the wedding to look, and she executed it flawlessly.”

Anna was equally thorough when choosing the rest of their wedding team. She researched vendors through Instagram and online searches, read reviews, and spent time looking through photography galleries before making her selections.

Her sister also contributed to the preparations, designing the invitations and save-the-dates and addressing every envelope by hand.

Why Anna Would Recommend a Destination Wedding

Anna says she wouldn’t change anything about the celebration or the months leading up to it. She especially appreciated having a planner who could manage the arrangements while they were abroad.

“I think having a destination wedding is a great option if you don’t want to micromanage the details because you are not near your venue,” she shares.

For Anna and Gabe, the combination of careful vendor research, clear communication, and a trusted local planner made it possible to organize their wedding from a distance.

This Picturesque San Francisco City Hall Wedding Was a Love Letter to the City by the Bay

October 19, 2026 | justine

An afternoon ceremony beneath San Francisco City Hall’s grand architecture, dinner overlooking the Bay Bridge, and a late-night party in lower Nob Hill. Gabrielle and Jordan planned their wedding around the places they loved, giving guests a chance to experience San Francisco as they knew it. Along the way came a few surprises, including misplaced wedding rings, an unexpected ice shot luge shaped like their dog, and an unplanned reception entrance that became one of Gabrielle’s favorite memories.

San Francisco had been part of their story since the beginning. After meeting at a wedding in 2021, they spent their first year long-distance before Jordan moved to join Gabrielle in the city. She had always pictured getting married at City Hall, though securing a date was, as she put it, comparable to getting Coachella tickets. When April 18 became available, they immediately submitted a bid and secured it.

With a year to plan, Gabrielle used an eight-week break from graduate school to book vendors and organize most of the details herself, bringing in a day-of coordinator six weeks before the wedding. Jordan came up with the idea that guided the celebration: “A weekend in San Francisco”. The ceremony would be followed by a reception at Sens, a favorite Embarcadero restaurant with Bay Bridge views, indoor and outdoor spaces, and a dog-friendly policy. The night would end at Persona, a moody bar and nightclub in lower Nob Hill, where everyone could gather for drinks and dancing.

What We Love About This San Francisco City Hall Wedding:

  • An all-black guest dress code
  • White tulips, crossword puzzles, and lottery-ticket favors honoring Gabrielle’s grandparents
  • An awkward all-denim family photo shoot with their dog, Sandie, turned into a guest book
  • A surprise ice sculpture of Sandie that doubled as a shot luge
  • A three-venue celebration ending with dancing at Persona in lower Nob Hill

Trivia Night, Chocolate Bars, and a Welcome to the City

The festivities began before the wedding day. Gabrielle and Jordan created a website with an itinerary and a guide to San Francisco, and guests checking into the hotel received personalized chocolate bars in the couple’s favorite flavor, along with postcards outlining the weekend’s events.

For the welcome celebration, they organized a trivia night inspired by the games they regularly played at neighborhood bars. Gabrielle’s mother wrote the questions, covering San Francisco history, sports, favorite television shows, and facts about the couple. Gabrielle and Jordan hosted, and the winning team received a prize.

The evening gave friends and family who hadn’t met an opportunity to get acquainted before the ceremony. Guests got competitive, much to the couple’s delight.

Private Balcony Vows Before Their San Francisco City Hall Ceremony

Gabrielle and Jordan began their wedding morning together, exchanging private vows over breakfast on their hotel balcony. They had a traditional first look planned for later, but sharing their vows before getting ready gave them time alone. A few hours afterward, they returned to the balcony for what they jokingly called Gabrielle’s “dress debut.” Junebug vendor Grace T. Photography documented the moment before they all traveled to City Hall together.

During the ceremony, their harpist performed Ingrid Michaelson’s “The Way I Am,” a song Gabrielle had long imagined walking down the aisle to. Amy had learned it specifically for the occasion. Gabrielle’s best friend of nearly 20 years, Allie, officiated. Just before walking down the aisle, Gabrielle caught her first glimpse of the ceremony setup, their guests, and Jordan waiting for her.

There was also a brief mishap with the rings. Because City Hall required everyone to pass through a metal detector, the couple had placed them in a separate bag. When the exchange came around, they realized the rings weren’t with them. The situation was quickly resolved, with plenty of laughter.

An Ivory Rue de Seine Gown, a Green Suit, and an All-Black Dress Code

Fashion was one of Gabrielle’s favorite parts of planning. She assembled different outfits for each event, including a white jumpsuit with rosettes, a Jackie O-inspired mini dress, and white feathered pajamas. Her accessories included elbow-length gloves, a pearl-covered purse, tulip earrings, and a beaded veil.

For the ceremony, she chose a textured ivory Rue de Seine gown that she found during an impromptu shopping trip while visiting her grandmother. After discovering that stark white wasn’t the most flattering shade on her, she gravitated toward warmer tones. She customized the dress with sewn-in straps and a hoop skirt for extra volume.

Jordan wore a dark green suit, while guests were asked to dress in black. The darker clothing stood out against City Hall’s cream and white interiors. With no formal wedding party, their siblings and other family members walking down the aisle followed the same dress code.

Gabrielle completed her look with a voluminous, textured updo and natural, dewy makeup. She kept her skincare routine familiar, adding a facial a couple of months before the wedding and a few additional treatments without making major changes.

Sculptural Florals and Family Traditions in the Wedding Details

Gabrielle envisioned rich, moody colors and floral arrangements with unusual shapes and textures. She worked with Ampersand, giving the floral team creative freedom after sharing her mood board. The arrangements complemented each venue’s existing architecture and interiors.

Her own bouquet was made entirely of white tulips, her late grandfather’s favorite flower. His memory appeared elsewhere during the reception, too. Guests could work on crossword puzzles during cocktail hour, inspired by her grandparents’ habit of completing the Los Angeles Times crossword together each morning. At the end of the night, everyone received lottery scratchers, another tradition from Gabrielle’s grandfather, who used to give them to his grandchildren at Christmas.

The couple’s shared sense of humor also appeared in the seating arrangements. As avid Bravo fans, they named each table after a different Bravo television show, then assigned guests according to which show’s personality best suited them. Signature cocktails were named after restaurants and places familiar to their friends.

Perhaps the funniest detail was the guest book. On Valentine’s Day, Gabrielle, Jordan, and Sandie had posed for an intentionally awkward, all-denim family photo session inspired by department-store portraits. They used the resulting photos to create a guest book that guests are still talking about.

An Unexpected Reception Entrance With Their Dog Sandie Stealing the Show

After the ceremony, a transportation issue meant Gabrielle and Jordan arrived at Sens separately, disrupting their planned entrance together. Gabrielle ended up walking into the reception with Sandie, who wore a little wedding dress and a pearl leash. It was an unplanned moment that Gabrielle found especially fitting, and Grace captured a photograph of the two making their entrance.

Sandie had another surprise waiting inside. Gabrielle and Jordan had ordered what they believed would be a decorative ice sculpture of their dog. When it arrived, they discovered it was actually a fully functioning ice luge for drinks and shots. The sculpture quickly became one of the night’s most popular attractions.

The reception also included speeches from family members that brought the couple and many guests to tears. Gabrielle still watches recordings of those speeches almost weekly. The restaurant team kept dinner and drinks running smoothly, even preparing food to take back to the hotel, while DJ Teddy managed the music and energy of the evening.

The couple had decided against hiring a videographer, instead purchasing a camcorder for guests to pass around. Watching the footage afterward gave them a look at conversations, dancing, and smaller moments they hadn’t witnessed themselves.

After dinner, the celebration continued downstairs at Persona, where guests could dance, have drinks, or settle into one of the lounge areas.

Their Advice: Plan a Wedding You Would Actually Enjoy

For Gabrielle and Jordan, the best planning decisions came from their shared interests and the places and people already part of their lives. Their photographer was even someone whose work Gabrielle had unknowingly saved on Instagram before getting engaged. When she rediscovered the screenshot after booking Grace, she realized she’d chosen the same photographer.

Their San Francisco City Hall wedding also reinforced the importance of having people they could depend on. When unexpected issues arose, Gabrielle’s mother, sisters, cousins, and Allie helped handle them so the couple could enjoy the day.

Their advice to other couples is straightforward: “Have fun and do it together, pull from your own strengths and combine them to plan a day that you would actually enjoy. Remember to be true to yourself and don’t cave to the pressures of others.”

And when it comes to assembling a vendor team, Gabrielle adds, “Your vendors can really make or break it, so choose wisely and trust them once you do!”
