Rust and Blush Beaverton Wedding at The Butler Barn

September 4, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Sarah and Stephen gave rustic a modern twist in their Oregon wedding at The Butler Barn. With just 5 months of planning, Mae & Co. Creative helped this couple create a laid-back vibe was also impeccably styled to complement the rustic barn venue without making it feel too “country.” The bride, who is a graphic designer, hand-lettered all the signage and built a custom seating chart that, and the florists at Good Seed Floral created stunning pops of blooms for the bouquets and the centerpieces. We absolutely love the unexpected color palette, especially the groom’s rust-colored suit from Topman. Photographer Dawn Charles knocked it out of the park in capturing every charming detail and romantic moment of this summer wedding!

Take a step back and remember that this is the beginning of your marriage, not the end game. I think too many brides obsess over the wedding day and lose sight of the big picture. Yes, it’s one of the biggest days of your life, but it’s not the end of the world if something isn’t perfect. And, truth is, you’ll be the only one that notices!

I wanted my bridal look to be simple and minimal! I obviously wanted to look like a bride, but also wanted to look like myself. My inspiration came from any photo I could find of a simple, flattering dress, with low-key hair and make up. I loved my dress! It had pockets, was so comfy, and was easy to move in. The slit in the front was a fun feature, as well, and made for some epic photos!

Stephen and I wrote vows together that we did in a “repeat after me” format. We wanted to be specific and intentional with the promises we were making to one another.

I made a large “table assignment” sign with help from Stephen‘s brother and sister-in-law. We laser cut the header out of wood and fastened it to a large piece of particle board, and then I designed the pages with names/tables and nailed them in with gold nails. I also hand lettered all of our other signage. I’m a graphic designer, so having a cohesively “branded” wedding was really important to me!

Stephen and I drank a bottle of wine on our first day 5 years ago. That same week of our date, he went and bought another bottle (just in case). The morning of the wedding, he gifted me the empty bottle we’d drank that night (he saved it!) along with a new pair of Shwood sunglasses for our honeymoon (his brother’s company). Then, at the reception, he had the second (full) bottle of wine for us to drink that he’d saved. Such a fun surprise!

I gave Stephen an engraved box full of letters I’d been writing him since we met (that he never knew about) along with a custom knife made by my brother, who owns Northwest Bladeworks.

If the Black Barn at This Three Oaks Farm Wedding Doesn’t Steal Your Heart, The Cute Newlywed Photos Will

September 3, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Jacqueline and Patrick’s wedding at  Three Oaks Farm is the perfect blend of rustic and boho chic. Combining both of their styles and personalities, Jacqueline and Patrick opted for a laidback wedding with details that give it an elevated look. Shayna Chapman helped plan and style the space with moody florals, macrame table runners, and all the candles for the ultimate romantic feel. Sarah Joy Photo effortlessly captured so many beautiful portraits and fun details, including the cake cutting ceremony with a fire ax! It’s safe to say that this fireman and his bride had the best day ever and are ready to start this new chapter in their lives.

The Wedding:

My dress was a BHLDN find and while I loved the original dress I added pieces my grandmother’s dress to make it mine. I used the remainder of her dress to make my garter and I had Patrick’s Air Force patch sewn into it.

I gifted to my husband his dream guitar, one that he would never buy for himself. A Taylor 322 CE. Prior to our day we found out we were going to have a baby and we had also just purchased a home. I knew with these responsibilities and in always putting our marriage first, he’d put his hobbies and some of his passions second. I wanted him to know- his passion is my passion and I will take care of him as he has taken care of me. My vows were laced through the strings. I could hear him playing through the walls of the venue and I could feel his happiness in every strum. Best money I have ever spent or purchase I have ever made- which is exactly what he said about purchasing my engagement ring.

The black barn element at Three Oaks Farm represented the south and the chic black represented all things LA. There aren’t many Barns in California, where I am from, and the concept to me was beautiful. I loved the unfinished floors, with the warm wood walls and the twinkling lights and blush drapes sealed the deal. We wanted to be married outside and Patrick loved the body of water. It was tucked away, but not hard to find- it had all the elements.

I can’t choose one favorite photo. Sarah captured so many moments of genuine adoration between Patrick and me, our friends and family… even our sweet Daisy, our ten-month-old puppy. I look at these photos everyday and am warmed by how I get to notice new details everyday because of them.

Our photographer, Sarah, just simply has a gift. You can’t teach someone to recognize the moments and do so with so much ease. Her editing style is also what completed the look of my wedding and made it so in every form of print we have. We will definitely be using her again and again and again.

Our chalkboard signs were hand-drawn calligraphy by my father-in-law, Craig, and our arbor was built by Patrick. My Mom made every wedding favor by hand. Lot’s of DIY contribution!

I started with wanting a moody spring wedding. Dark tones with the odd pastel to off set the season. Golds and green, candle light, shades of wine and mauve, navy blue open collars. I wanted the florals somewhat wild and funky while still maintaining that this was after all, a romantic event. I wanted romance more than anything. Hence my millions of candles and loose garlands flowing. The boho aspects- like my flower crown and the different dress colors and styles were the elements of California I wanted to bring in. Open collars for the men just felt free.

Epic Toronto Theatre Wedding at The Eglinton Grand

September 2, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Angie and Matt’s Toronto wedding at The Eglinton Grand was an incredible combination of glamorous style and quirky details. The couple chose the vintage movie theatre to host their special day because it was full of character and Art Deco vibes that encompassed Matt’s love of movies and Angie’s love of the ‘20s and ‘30s time period. For her bridal look, Angie channeled old Hollywood glam with a tulle Lea-Ann Belter gown, delicate gloves, and David Dunkley fascinator. For the reception, Swoon Events brought in all the gold, glitz, and glam they could fit into the converted theatre. From the couple’s intimate first look to their mesmerizing choreographed first dance, FloFoto truly captured the essence of this epic Toronto wedding!
