Modern Romantic Saddlerock Ranch Wedding in Shades of Dusty Blue

January 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Caitlin and Cameron’s Saddlerock Ranch wedding was as heartfelt as it was modern and romantic. The couple chose the incredible St. Charles Borromeo church to exchange vows and then celebrated with their nearest and dearest in an outdoor reception in the Oak Grove of Saddlerock Ranch. Because they were moving from Texas to California — and booked the reception venue without seeing it in person — they counted on Orange Blossom Special Events to execute their vibe, and they came through big time. From the dusty blue palette to the lush florals designed by Inessa Nichols Design to the modern touches, every detail was total perfection, and photographer Emily Magers captured it all brilliantly!

The Couple:

Caitlin and Cameron

The Wedding:

St. Charles Borromeo and Saddlerock Ranch, California

A lot of the things you worry about leading up to the day won’t matter to you on the actual day. Don’t stress over the small stuff. Make a decision and move forward. We were engaged for 8 months but because of a cross country move didn’t start planning until 6 months out. We loved it because it made us have to be decisive and didn’t give us time to overthink anything. The short engagement surprisingly made it a lot less stressful for us.

The only surprise we had was small but I loved it. My dad used to sing me the 1920’s song Side by Side when I was a little girl. The band learned the song to play for the father-daughter dance without my Dad knowing. When they called us up for the dance my Dad looked at me and goes, “Do you even know what we are dancing to?” It was a fun moment when they started playing the song.

My favorite photos were actually ones I almost decided not to do. The photographer, Emily, came up to us at dinner right at sunset and asked to steal us for 15 minutes for pictures. I really didn’t want to miss any of the dinner so I was about to say no but changed my mind after I realized it wouldn’t take much time. We walked hand in hand by the vineyards and under a willow tree while Emily shot photos of us. Those ended up being my favorite pictures of the day.

One of the most memorable parts of the day was the very end of the night. We decided to have an exit the week of the wedding. We had LED balloons to light up our path to the car and all of the guests lined up next to the balloons. As we drove away, in the spur of the moment, the guests pulled the balloons from the ground and let them go. We watched them float away from the car as we left. It was a perfect ending to the day.

After Waiting 9 Months for the Groom’s Visa, This Couple Celebrated with a Snowy Loveland Pass Elopement

January 16, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Megan and Cameron’s incredible, wintry Loveland Pass elopement proves that good things come to those who wait! After a whirlwind romance and an epic engagement, this adventurous couple wouldn’t settle for anything less than an exquisite setting for their special day, which made the snow-covered Rockies the perfect choice. The couple’s day included a self-solemnized ceremony, a champagne toast, and a cake cutting on the back of their tailgate — and that simplicity couldn’t have been more charming. Megan channeled serious woodland princess vibes with a dusty blue skirt from Wardrobe by Dulcinea and eye-catching flower crown created by By Kochetova. Lucky for us all, Amy Bluestar Photography was there to capture every dreamy moment of this winter wonderland elopement!

The Couple:

Megan and Cameron

The Wedding:

Loveland Pass, Rocky Mountains, Colorado

We eloped mostly because everything had to be last minute; we waited almost 9 months for my husband’s visa to come through (he’s from London) so the easiest thing to do was to have the big things in place (dress, suit, photographer) and just drive out to Colorado as soon as he could get here. But I also really wanted to get married amongst the mountains. We met on a grand adventure (the Mongol Rally) and got engaged at Moraine Lake in Banff, so I wanted to say our vows to each other and before God in a place that made us feel small and humble and awed.

The whole day was so special and amazing (and freezing) but my favorite memory was pronouncing ourselves as husband and wife. We had a self-solemnization ceremony at Loveland Pass, so there were some other people around. We were in a spot that still felt private, but I guess some people had waited at their cars when they saw what we were doing. When we pronounced ourselves married and kissed, they all cheered and honked their horns. It was completely unexpected and actually really delightful.

I knew I wanted a big dramatic tulle skirt in a dusty blue color against the backdrop of the mountains, and my dressmaker absolutely delivered. Between that and my gorgeous silk flower crown, I felt like a woodland princess!

Take the time to really consider what’s important to you as a couple and stay true to that. We eloped for several reasons, but we also had a marriage celebration a month later with our closest family and friends. I’m my mother’s only child, and I knew she was having a hard time not being there. So we had another ceremony, repeated our vows, and had the people who are most involved in our lives sign a covenant as witnesses to hold us to them. Both the elopement and the celebration were incredibly personal and tailored to us, and we really had the best of both worlds. So, don’t do things just because they’re what people do – take the time to evaluate what’s actually meaningful to you.
