This Swedish Bohemian Wedding at Nääs Slott is Wildly Beautiful

February 4, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Every wild and free-spirited bride needs to see Marija and Ali’s day at Nääs Slott! Their Swedish wedding has everything from  flower walls to geometric shapes and a cultural ceremony set-up that was created to be totally boho by Emelie Ahlnér. We’re positively obsessed with Marija’s bridal look — she rocked her bohemian babe look in a Grace Loves Lace gown and botanical braid hairstyle that has swooning. If you’re looking for all the modern, Free People vibes, you’re going to love these photos Karin Lundin Photography captured of Marija and Ali’s inspiring day!

The Couple:

Marija & Ali

The Wedding:

Nääs Slott, Sweeden

We were looking for a barn-like venue with a lot of light. Villa Vänhem on the Swedish west coast had everything we were looking for! We could have both our party and wedding in the room as it is divided into different parts. The glass veranda is the part of the room where both the wedding ceremony and the party took place. And the dining room is a dream with high arched windows and high ceilings.

If possible, take on professional help! Dare to spend a little more money on the photographer and videographer so that you can relive the day over and over again. Let your own personal style be added to your wedding and dare to let go. There is no must. We took some help from a wedding coordinator so that everything was flowing during the day. This helped us to take the stress away from the day and we could just enjoy and let all of it go and have fun on our special day!

We wanted to pay tribute to the Persian tradition and chose to have a Persian wedding ceremony; Sofreh Aghd. There are several symbolic objects that make up a Sofreh Aghd. Tableware and all items represent a part of the couple’s new life and marriage together. The word “Sofreh” means cloth and “Aghd” means marriage. With the help of our florist, we were able to make our Sofreh Aghd unique so that it could reflect our personalities while celebrating my husband’s Persian descent.

Emelie Ahlnér helped us with everything from ideas, invitations, flowers, the Persian Sofre Aghd ceremony, decorations any calmed us many time when things got overwhelming. To this day, we feel that we couldn’t have done it without her!

We wanted to keep it wild and bohemian. I explained my vision to our florist and explained that I wanted the wild style with lots of flowers, pampas grass and greenery. We wanted a wedding arch and a flower wall with geometric elements. The flowers followed the theme of gray, dusty rose, gold and green with dark elements. Our decorations were mixed with geometric patterns and wild flowers. Grey cloths with golden straight chandeliers, Glass boxes with different textures of paper and everything followed the color theme perfectly.

Rock n’ Roll Romantic Chicago Wedding at Salvage One

February 3, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

After only being engaged for three months, Courtney and Sawyer tied the knot in their own version of a non-traditional wedding at Salvage One! We can’t wait for you to see the stunning shots Emily Keeney Photography captured of this sweet couple’s day, especially the street style candids in the historic Chicago downtown.  If you love unique wedding style, you’re going to be googl-y eye’d over this couple’s stellar looks, with Courtney in Hayley Paige and Sawyer in a red velvet suit. From a sentimental ceremony ritual to the bride and groom rocking (literally) at the reception, this wedding has everything you need to know about doing things your own way and being super romantic while you’re at it!

The Couple:

Courtney & Sawyer

The Wedding:

Salvage One, Chicago, Illinois

My wedding day fashion was going to be F U N. I did not want a traditional dress. The bottom of the dress needed drama, and I knew I wanted spaghetti straps. But, I still wanted to look bridal and elegant. There had to be a happy medium. I went with a Hayley Paige gown, as she is my favorite bridal designer. My makeup was neutral with browns and nudes. My hair was untraditional with a rose gold hair piece to match my ring. My hair stylist did loose waves with a flat iron and pinned half up and half down.

My favorite photo that my photographer took is a candid shot of my husband I walking down a Chicago street. You can barely peep my cute boots, we both look so happy strutting about in our favorite city and you can see the marina towers + a CHICAGO sign behind us — just beautiful and real!

The most memorable part of the day was when our officiant (our pastor and one of our best friends) surprised us with an interactive analogy about marriage. He compared embarking into marriage with playing a game of “the floor is lava,” having us stand on two individual pillows. It was hard to balance (which was the point), but then he called select people up from the pews who had been hiding pillows, to place them at our feet as a visual representation of surrounding us throughout our marriage (that’s why our first kiss is surrounded by a sea of pillows). This was the part that really brought us to tears.

We chose Salvage One after finding it through a work event. It was so incredibly unique, there was so much to do for any age (kids through more mature adults) and it required extremely minimal decor. It had everything we needed from a logistics standpoint as well: we wanted the ceremony + reception in the same spot, we needed a stage and we didn’t want to have to DIY any decor or overspend on decor / flowers.

We surprised our parents by doing a “switcheroo” during the mother / son and father / daughter dance, having my dance with his mom and my husband dance with my dad for the last chorus of the song, and for the grand finale, during our first dance (with our band playing live) my husband and I ran onto the stage to play the rest of the song (I played drums, and he played bass). The crowd went wild and chanted for “one more song.” So, we invited our officiant and a couple more friends back on stage to play one more tune. It was wild!

This Brazilian Mansion Wedding Has the Floral Ceremony Arch of Our Dreams

February 2, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

If you’ve ever dreamed of an extravagant floral ceremony arch and lots of pink, Anne and Mark’s Brazilian mansion wedding will have you swooning over every little detail! We’re loving how Thrall Photography captured every emotional moment — and some pretty rad reception party photos. DJ Dentinho Playback Eventos let the bride and groom take over his booth?! Yes, please! This wedding has every touch of elegance and romance. We can’t wait for you to get inspired!

The Couple:

Anne & Mark

The Wedding:

Private Mansion, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Shop similar styles: Valentino Garavani Rockstud Leather Sandals ($798); Public Desire Stush Studded Heeled Pumps ($47); Steve Madden Vala-s Clear ($102.95); Always Studded Strappy Block Heels ($44.99); Block Heel White Wedding Shoes ($156.03)

My wedding dress was love at first sight. Was the first one I tried on, and I could feel butterflies in my stomach. I did try five other dresses, but I came back to Pronovias and stayed with the first one. I loved the overskirt and the laces on my dress.

Im from Rio and my husband is English. So we wanted something that could really impress our guests and the wow view that the Mansion in Santa teresa had. From there our guests had a view of the sugar loaf and christ redeemer. 2 of the most famous sights in Rio. And of course, as we met in Rio it really meant to us to get married there.

Our colors were a mix of light pink, rose, masala, and a bit of blue. I asked for blue to be inserted bc its Mark’s favorite color.

Our DJ definitely stood out. He is an amazing professional and human being. He made us comfortable since the first meeting and was very respectful with our wishes.
