November 13, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

With dramatic florals and a spooky sweetheart table, Asia and Ana’s Tulum elopement was something out of a mystical dream! When it comes to style, this couple has got it going on — we love Asia’s lacy, boho Tadashi Shoji dress and Ana’s custom Bindle & Keep suit. If you’re into witchcraft inspired decor, you’ve got to see the sweetheart table that stylist and floral designer Maria Limon created for the couple’s romantic candlelit dinner. From a beautiful Shamanic ceremony to the coolest, moody couple’s portraits, we can’t wait for you to see every photo Memory Box Photography captured of Asia and Ana’s inspiring Tulum elopement!

The Couple:

Asia & Ana

The Wedding:

Tulum, Mexico

It was most important for us to be the total focus of our wedding. Doing and choosing things that made us happy. We wanted to incorporate things that meant something to us and felt authentic to us as a couple. This was the main reason we chose an elopement as opposed to the traditional wedding.

We had a sound healer at our wedding that played various healing instruments while we got ready and during the ceremony. This offered an idyllic soundtrack to the day and no doubt relaxed us. After our team was gone we played our favorite playlist on Spotify and danced.

One of the most memorable parts of the day was the shamanic ceremony which allowed us to stop and acknowledge the higher powers recognized through the four directions. Through this process, we acknowledged and gave thanks to all of the natural powers working in our favor making it all possible. It was a beautiful hybrid experience of meditation, gratitude and connection that’s hard to describe.

Asia‘s dress was a simple vintage boho style dress and was barefoot foot jewelry. The inspiration was something comfortable lacy and effortless. Ana’s suit was custom made by Bindle and Keep. Finding a suit for women that fit the way she wanted is difficult so having a suit made just for her with all the elements she wanted was key. Her inspiration was a clean-cut, elegant and trendy. Nina ( our dog) had a cute flower collar to match our florals.

Wedding planning advice from the couple: First, hire wedding planners and then let them do their job. We had a great team but still managed to allow ourselves to stress a bit by not fully letting go of control. So let go and trust you chose a great team. Second, decide who your wedding is for. If it’s for you and your spouse then each decision should reflect that, be vigilant of compromises you are making to satisfy other people.

We wanted something we hadn’t seen before or that often at weddings. We already knew we wanted a vintage feel and that we would be doing it in Mexico so we wanted an earthy, botanical, bohemian but elegant vibe. We chose this because our lives and relationship evolution has really been themed around healing, alchemy and connecting to nature. So this elegant, witchy, bohemian style just fit perfectly to express that. Also, our dating anniversary is on Halloween so this also seemed to fit the theme.

Maria Limon is seriously a genius. She truly styled everything and more than we imagined to perfection.

November 12, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Taelor and Aaron celebrated their love in style by spicing up Plenty Mercantile with vintage vibes and citrus hues! As a lover of crafting and DIY projects, Taelor took on the task of creating decor for their day — and she totally nailed it. We’re loving the bouquets, Facebook Marketplace finds, and simple greenery her reception tables were decked in. Plus, she looked stunning in a fitted and elegant Vera Wang via David’s Bridal dress and glam jewelry! From fun-loving wedding party photos to sweet, romantic moments on the rooftop, we can’t wait for you to see how Payton Marie Photography beautifully documented this inspiring day at Plenty Mercantile in OKC!

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Make sure your minions (bridal party) are ride or die, hydrate, have lots of cold brew on hand (nitro preferred), and be ready to rally after every night out (because it’s a weeklong party, not just one night).

I put together my look after picking out my dress. Like most, I picked out a dress that was far from what I had initially envisioned. From there, I browsed online to pick a simple hairstyle and fun glam accessories. I loved everything about my dress and accessories. The dress was simple yet glamorous, fit like a glove, and was so comfortable.

We did the decor, flowers, music (Spotify playlists), hair, makeup, and accessories. I (Taelor) love any chance to style and create. After receiving a few quotes, I realized very quickly that I could do a lot myself, for a lot cheaper, and make it more genuine to our style. I used facebook marketplace for second hand votives, a friend of mine had leftover runners, I used a lot of amazon prime, and I went to hobby lobby when florals were 50% off. It took a couple hours to pick out my flowers and they all turned out amazing! I used a pretty industrial wire cutter and little hot glue gun to bring the bouquets together with the ribbons.

Payton was amazing! She made it so fun and actually very relaxed. It was very fun to work with her and I couldn’t imagine anyone doing a better job. I’m going to miss her now that the big day is over. There are so many photos that I love, but my favorite is probably the one of us on the roof top giving each other serious “I love you” eyes.

We have been to a few weddings so far, and the best ones we went to were simple. They had simple decor, great food, and threw a great party. We were doing almost everything ourselves and between us both being full time active duty Air Force Officers, and our various other endeavors; simple was the most appropriate vibe for the free time we had to plan. We knew the venue just needed some tacos, margs, greenery, and romantic candles to set the “A&Tae” mood/vibe.

We gave personalized drink coasters. Aaron and I love taking the cute personalized drink coasters from bars we visit, so we decided to make some for our guests!

Terracotta and Pampas Grass South African Wedding at Bordeaux Game Farm

November 11, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Sonette and De Vries wedding at Bordeaux Game Farm has us feeling inspired with a new wedding trend we are calling “sophisticated safari!” Floral designer A Seed To Sow created the most magnificent table arrangements with pampas grass and muted color florals that look absolutely perfect paired with modern rentals from Bish Bash Boosh. Sonette looked stunning in a warm ivory sequined gown by Vagabond Bridal — and her groom didn’t disappoint either, dressed in a classic black and white suit from Bride & Co. If you’ve been dreaming of a wedding with hints of terracotta and lots of earthy details, you’ll love every photo Lora Photography beautifully captured at Bordeaux Game Farm!

The Couple:

Sonette & De Vries

The Wedding:

Bordeaux Game Farm, South Africa

My mission was to look effortless and not like a traditional bride. I also decided not wear a veil. My dress was a warm Ivory color, full of Shimmer sequins. It also had a luxurious, soft velvet base that created a chic and flattering silhouette and a striking train. I loved the fact that my dress was comfortable and not heavy at all.

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Most important is to enjoy every bit of planning, as you only plan your dream day once! Secondly, organization is key! You have so many balls up in the air at once, you’ll need to keep track of everything so buy a wedding planning book or set up a wedding planning spreadsheet. Also, my advice to any bride is to invest in a great photographer and videographer! They are the most important vendors on the day-of. They capture every moment and it tells a story, not any story but a story of your special day. It is the only memory you have left of your big day.

We both have a tremendous love for nature and wild life. We were looking for a venue that describes us best. Bordeaux Game Farm is just so authentic, atmosphere-filled with a lot African adventures and safari.

We had an engagement shoot with our photographers before the wedding and we just clicked instantly. We then became very close friends. It is so important to get along with your photographers as you will be spending the whole day with them.

There are no words to describe Bordeaux Game Farm’s amazing venue and staff. We all were completely blown away by the natural beauty of the venue, the food, the staff and the accommodation. They pulled off the most magical day! Bordeaux is an absolute gem and wish we could have it all over again.

Like every bride, I wanted something different. My mission was to stay away from greenery and do pampas grass instead. The theme was earthy meets simplicity and elegance.
