Warm & Cozy Dallas Wedding at Brake & Clutch

October 4, 2020 | riley

Aubrie and David wanted their wedding to feel like home, so a warm and cozy Dallas wedding at Break & Clutch was the perfect choice! Their untraditional black, copper, and champagne color palette and unique geometric pampas grass backdrop matched the warehouse’s modern aesthetic beautifully. Planner Hunter Orcutt did a fantastic job of bringing the couple’s vision board to life.

While everything about this wedding is beautiful, our favorite part is the photos captured by one of our own Junebugs, Brooke Taelor. That’s right! Not only is she an incredible part of our team, but she’s also the insanely talented photographer who captured Aubrie and David’s love perfectly.

The Couple:

Aubrie and David

The Wedding:

Brake & Clutch, Dallas, Texas

Why Brake & Clutch

We love the area of Deep Ellum in Dallas—it has so many bars/restaurants and the Brake & Clutch venue is so cool with the warehouse look. We like that the whole wedding had a “theme”–bridal brunch, hotel block, rehearsal dinner, welcome party, and wedding were all in Deep Ellum.

A Memorable Ceremony

The ceremony room had just such a homey/cozy vibe with warm lights, the rugs Hunter had brought in, and the fact that we were over capacity, so people were packed in. We’ll never forget the moment right after we kissed and our officiant announced us, and we turned to all of our people. We saw our parents, family, friends, coworkers–literally everyone that means so much to us. It was just such a perfect moment. David and I both agree it was surreal.

Lots Of Food Options

I love queso, so we had tacos/enchiladas and queso. The caterers had my own “bride bowl” waiting for me in my seat. We also had Philly cheesesteak sliders and Chinese food in takeout containers. They were a huge hit! Lastly–this was truly special –my grandparents started a steakhouse restaurant that has been very special to my family. My grandparents have passed but they were such an important part of my life, so we wanted to honor them at the wedding. The famous dessert at the steak house is a Tumbleweed–basically an adult milkshake–so we served little Tumbleweeds at the end of the night.

Whimsical Modern Carnegie Museum of Art Pittsburgh Wedding

October 3, 2020 | riley

What happens when a marketing professional plans a wedding? Utter perfection. Maria and Logan’s modern Carnegie Museum of Art Pittsburgh wedding was the perfect combination of modern yet whimsical, thanks to Maria’s marketing experience. With a guest list of over 200 people, the pair knew that they wanted their day to be creative and non-traditional, and they made it happen–without a planner!

We love how The Farmer’s Daughters Flowers incorporated spray-painted flowers, and we can’t get over the couple’s chic cake by Tasty Bakery that looks as if it has been hand-painted. While we could gush about the details for days, we love how talented photographer Rachel Rowland summed it up:

Rachel Rowland on the Couple’s Special Day

Maria’s marketing career drove her to approach the wedding no different from planning a cohesive, branded campaign. Everything from the save the dates to the thank you cards would take on the romantic, yet moody vibe and color palette. Victoria, of Oh Joyful Day, handpainted the majority of the day-of-goods, and the entire invitation suite was an original design.

Throughout 2019, spray-painted flowers popped up in weddings and high fashion. So, to add to the artistic inspiration, floral design diva and visionary Lauren Work–the owner of The Farmer’s Daughter Flowers–executed multiple installations and centerpieces filled with spray-painted baby’s breath and pampas grass, along with other dried and fresh flowers. This created an extremely unique and almost whimsical setting. It matched perfectly with the venue and decor from Oh Joyful Day and Vintage Alley Rentals. It was truly a romantic dream of an evening.

The Versatile Karen Willis Holmes Gown

I only went to two stores and after I walked into the second boutique, I knew I wasn’t going anywhere else. Blanc de Blanc is owned by the nicest young woman named Angelea. I probably scheduled ten appointments before we found THE dress. Even then, since we had an 18-month engagement, I continued to wait until the last minute. I think I tried on 20 different dresses before I found the one. When I went back to try it on for the second time, I could barely contain my tears. Karen Willis Holmes executes some of the most beautiful beading I have ever seen. I still have not seen a more perfect dress for me. The skirt attachment was fabulous for changing my look from the ceremony to the reception, and while I was not a fan of veils when I started shopping, I could not take it off once I put it on.

A Unique & Memorable First Look

Rachel planned such a unique experience as we stood back-to-back among ancient architecture–strangers staring and crying. It felt like something out of a movie. I loved my look head to toe, but I also couldn’t wait to see Logan’s reaction because I kept his preferences in mind when I planned it. We both felt so much lighter after seeing each other for the first time that day.

Why a Carnegie Museum of Art Pittsburgh Wedding

We were set on finding a unique venue to hold our 200+ guest list from the moment we got engaged. We were not interested in a typical ballroom setting. Something romantic, whimsical, and absolutely breathtaking was what we were looking for–well, more so me than “we.” Logan was happy as long as I was happy. The spray-painted flowers that Victoria (of Oh Joyful) and I came up with really pushed me to set the artistic tone throughout the whole venue. And since it took place at the Carnegie Museum of Art, it all fell into place perfectly.

An Unforgettable Recession Photo

Rachel stopped us at the end of the aisle during the recession out and yelled, “Kiss!” When Rachel shouts an order, you know it’s for a good pic. That photo is definitely one of our favorites.

Scottish Countryside Elopement at Alladale Wilderness Reserve

October 2, 2020 | riley

We love seeing couples incorporate their love for the great outdoors into their wedding. Isla and Greg did just that in their adventure elopement at Alladale Wilderness Reserve. With no planner helping them, the couple planned a magical day focused on the beauty of the surrounding snow-covered mountains.

Isla’s lace long-sleeved Unbridaled wedding gown paired perfectly with her warm colored bouquet from Wild Gorse. Greg honored Scottish tradition in his MacGregor & MacDuff kilt. We’re obsessed with the plaid shawl that Isla wore for the couple portraits–captured by The Caryls–that matched flawlessly with Greg’s kilt. While we could go on for days about this stunning affair, we think Katy Caryl said it best:

The Caryls’ Katy Caryl On The Day

Isla and Greg’s rugged and romantic elopement wedding at Alladale Wilderness Reserve in the Scottish Highlands had everything we love about adventurous outdoor weddings in Scotland. After exploring numerous venues, they found that they couldn’t get Alladale out of their heads—it was something truly special, and the perfect place for them to celebrate their wedding with just their closest friends and family.

Our photography takes us to so many incredibly beautiful locations, for which we are truly grateful, but the moment we drove through the gates of the Alladale estate, we were touched by its beauty too. Alladale Wilderness Reserve is a 23,000-acre estate 1.5 hours north of Inverness. The team behind the estate are really committed to keeping their corner of Scotland truly wild, or “re-wilded,” by replanting indigenous forests and reintroducing Scottish highland plant and animal species. Arriving at Alladale feels like stepping back in time to a bygone age.

A Memorable Wedding Morning

We got ready separately in the morning then met up again—just the two of us—to walk to our ceremony together. The morning felt strange–being apart–but it meant that coming back together was so exciting. We’ll never forget the anticipation of seeing each other all ready for our wedding, then the feeling of joy and completeness when, hand in hand, we marched up the hill to marry.

Why Alladale Wilderness Reserve

We were looking for a large hotel or country house that our family could all stay in together—somewhere in the beautiful Scottish countryside. We saw Alladale online and felt it offered what we were looking for. After visiting we realized it was a thousand times more spectacular than we ever imagined it could be. There was no way we were getting married anywhere else once we’d seen Alladale. It’s the most special place, and we fell in love with it instantly. The surroundings are dramatic and wonderful, the accommodation is comfortable but luxurious, and the ethos of the reserve is admirable.

Scottish Wedding Favors

We love exploring Scotland and have wonderful memories of trips we have taken together and the adventures we have had. We wanted to share some of these with our guests, so we had Tobermory chocolate from the Isle of Mull, handmade soaps from the Isle of Islay, miniature bottles of whisky from the Isle of Jura, and gin from the Isle of Skye.
