As soon as Aria and Jonathan stepped foot in The Cracker Factory, they knew it was the perfect wedding venue for them! This effortlessly elegant venue’s floor-to-ceiling windows allowed the couple to integrate their snow-covered upstate New York surroundings into part of their naturally wedding décor. Aria and Jonathan made their décor special by using gold details and tons of greenery to complement the industrial venue’s tall brick walls and wooden accents. We love how Ebersole Photography captured the couple’s wedding with enchanting and perfectly lit images!

Having a photographer we could trust to capture the real emotions of the day was really important to us. Ultimately, we wanted everything to be peaceful and joyful….which it was, so all our ideas and decorations revolved around that. I may also have been really specific about the flowers and greenery we had!

When we decided to get married in the dead of winter (ha), we knew we had to find a venue that would show off the beauty of winter. We didn’t want to escape it, rather almost let the snow be apart of the decor, if you will. Both of us really value atmosphere, so we also knew we wanted our venue to have a whimsical, elegant, but peaceful feel. We were absolutely sold as soon as we stepped foot into our venue! It was surrounded with floor to ceiling windows that let in all the natural light, and the brick walls with white wood beams fit every vision we had.

Neither of us could have anticipated how emotional and sacred the ceremony was going to feel. The amount of peace and pure joy we felt while committing our lives to one another in front of all our friends and family was indescribably special.

Our photographer Danny exceeded every expectation we had. He knew exactly when to be decisive, and when to be laid back. He was the photographer that you had hoped would capture absolutely everything, but you never noticed him. One of the many things we loved most about Danny, was how he captured the actual emotions and atmosphere of the day; he didn’t just capture photographs. All of the candid moments bring us right back to the wedding day, and the smiles and looks he captured were so genuine. We feel like we had the best photographer there is with Danny behind the camera. It doesn’t get better than Danny, it just gets different. He made our day that much more special.

Our advice: Have a wedding planner! Our friend did our wedding planning and she absolutely saved our sanity. I would also say to know the vision you’re looking to create and prioritize what truly matters to you based on the vision. Lastly, try to stay flexible and enjoy the process. The day of your wedding, the only thing worth focusing on is the person you’re marrying and the people you’re surrounded by.

5 Gorgeous Fall Wedding Color Palettes

August 30, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

fall wedding color palettes photo by Jenna McElroy

Autumnal hues are some of our favorites, so it’s no wonder we’re crazy about these fall wedding color palettes! Inspired by changing leaves, seasonal flowers, and fruits and veggies just waiting to be harvested, these palettes come straight from nature to decorate your fall wedding.

Apple Red, Gold, Light Yellow

When it comes to choosing colors for your fall wedding, look no further than the fruit of the season! Trees filled with apples and rows of pumpkins and squash are just waiting to inspire your fall wedding decor. We love the mix of bold linens, colored glassware, and seasonal florals to create this reception look.

Cognac, Yellow, Kelly Green, Cocoa

The Seventies are having a major comeback everywhere from fashion to design and, of course, weddings! Many ‘7os elements are influenced by the natural hues in the forest, making this palette of cognac, yellow, kelly green, and cocoa perfect for a storybook wedding in autumn.

Planning a romantic rustic wedding for fall? This color palette is for you! Mixing beautiful botanicals with overflowing greenery is the perfect complement to wood elements, whether it be a farm table, DIY bar, or ceremony arch.

Teal, Bold Orange, Raspberry, Dark Red

A festive fall fête calls for a parade of jewel tones throughout your wedding decor! Rich hues of teal, bold orange, raspberry, and dark red are luxe, warm, and always romantic. More is more with this color palette, so pile on the vintage dishes, candlesticks, fruit, flowers, and linens!

Amber, Deep Sage, Pure White

If your closet and home take a minimalist approach to style, your wedding should too! A stark white backdrop like The White Sparrow in Quinlan, Texas calls for a few neutral pops of color, and amber and deep sage green couldn’t be better picks. Search within nature to find these hues: magnolia leaves, agate slices, assorted berries and blooms, and even gold pears!

We’re Overwhelmed by This Wedding Ceremony Overlooking the North Cascades

August 30, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

We're Overwhelmed by This Wedding Ceremony Overlooking the North Cascades Hartman Outdoor Photography-13

Wanting to treat their out-of-town guests to the best of Washington’s beauty, Kim and Kevin held their ceremony overlooking the North Cascades. As if the epic landscape weren’t enough, the crafty pair took their wedding decor into their own hands (literally!) by DIYing some showstopping elements. Because no mountain wedding is complete without a little adventure, the newlyweds hiked into the sunset, Hartman Outdoor Photography capturing every romantic moment!

The Couple:

Kim and Kevin

The Wedding:

Sun Mountain Lodge Winthrop, Washington

Most of our guests were coming from out of town, so we wanted to share a part of Washington we really loved with them. We also really wanted to find a location where we would be able to spend the weekend with our guests, instead of just the wedding! Sun Mountain was perfect because we rented out all the cabins by Patterson Lake. It made it so we had the whole area to ourselves with most of our guests. We hosted a BBQ there instead of a traditional rehearsal dinner, had a yoga instructor come teach yoga to about 50 of our guests the morning of the wedding, partied after the wedding and had brunch there the morning after!

Kevin made the arbor for our ceremony out of birch poles. He cut, doweled and tied them together. We have it in our garden now!

We agreed the most memorable part of the day was the ceremony. I stopped at the top of the steps before walking down the aisle with my Dad and just looked out towards the North Cascades, Kevin and our friends and family- all our favorite people gathered in one spot to celebrate with us! There was so much love! Kevin felt the same standing at the end of the aisle.

Geof Childs, our officiant, has a beautiful ceremony about marriage being an adventure! It fit Kevin and I so well, we only modified it a little and then added our own readings.

For the centerpieces, we used old climbing rope to tie monkey fist knots and then used those knots to hold wooden table names. We cut and stained wood for the table names, and painted the names of some of our favorite peaks we have climbed. Other DIY table decorations were photos of those climbs that we had printed on wood and cobalt blue vases that we gathered from Goodwill!
