Alycia and Anthony’s shoot proves that there’s nothing quite like a beautiful set of natural engagement photos! The couple opted to let their newly-engaged sparks fly in the natural settings of Arizona’s Mogollon Rim and Woods Canyon Lake. We love how Alycia and Anthony chose muted tones for their two looks so they could let their epic outdoorsy backdrops shine! The Lacey Bee captured the stillness and romance of this couple’s Arizona engagement session perfectly.
Newlyweds Robyn and Nate love mid-century modern style so much that they knew they had to incorporate it in their wedding design! Playing off the timelessly rustic backdrop of their Malibu vineyard venue, the couple blended modern architecture, clean lines, and super cool throwbacks to the past to accomplish their mid-century Hollywood aesthetic. We love how Clarkie Photography captured this Saddlerock Ranch wedding’s styling as well as its incredibly personal moments that are unique to Robyn and Nate.
We wanted our families and friends to come together and have an amazing night, celebrating the merging of both us and our families. It was important to us to set a lively tone that everyone could enjoy yet also reflect who we are as a couple. It was a fun chance to give every detail our thought and care. From the design of the signs to the customization of cocktails, it was a blast to infuse the wedding with ourselves.
We wanted something in nature that showed the beauty of the outdoors while being within reasonable distance to civilization. We found Saddlerock and were absolutely awe-struck in the majesty of the Malibu Mountains.
We had our best friend officiate us and he wrote (and memorized!) his entire speech. It was incredibly touching. We also opted to not have the question about objections and instead did a flower exchange to our mothers.
The most memorable part of the day for me was coming up after the ceremony and cocktail hour and the DJ announcing us as the newly married Robyn & Nate. Seeing everyone we loved looking at us, clapping, was a moment in time I will treasure forever.
It wasn’t really a choice consciously from the start, we only realized at the end that we had gone for ‘Classic Hollywood’ with a modern twist. We love Mid-Century Modern style in our home and that permeated through all of our wedding style choices.
We dedicated our wedding favors to family members who couldn’t attend our wedding. Nate‘s grandfather and my (Robyn) grandmother passed away two years ago. We made his grandfather’s pickles and my grandmother’s strawberry preserves and gave them out as wedding favors in a symbol of the past becoming the future.
Bridesmaids dresses have a much bigger impact on your wedding style than you may have thought. A row of beautiful gowns can be used to carry out your wedding colors, but those gowns can also do much more. If you’re planning a fashion forward event, make a stylish statement with one of these bold bridesmaids looks!
All Black Everything
No matter the year, no matter the season, we have a special place in our hearts for bridesmaids in black. The stark contrast next to a bride’s white gown is unbelievably chic. To take your black bridesmaids gowns to the next level, choose dresses with a little variety, whether it’s a leather accent, a collared neckline, unique lace patterns, or with a dramatic back. If you want to really shake things up, get your girls fitted in their own black suit jackets and pants. It’s edgy-meets-sophisticated styling at its best!
With a rise in popularity of botanical-inspired weddings, it’s no wonder we’re seeing more and more floral prints on bridesmaids. Depending on your print of choice, different florals can help determine the style of your day. Fit and flare dresses with mid-century inspired flowers are perfect for a colorfully retro wedding while flowing gowns with watercolor blooms have a bohemian affect. Select one print for each girl to wear, or different prints by the same designer or in the same color palette to have a cohesive look that’s still a little “off.”
Mismatched bridesmaids dresses are nothing new, but bold choices make a big difference. Instead of dressing your bridesmaids in a variety of dresses in the same shade, get creative with a whole color story. Don’t be afraid to mix prints, textures, or even metals when selecting gowns. We love a gang of bridesmaids who are full of personality! To achieve the look, we recommend assigning each girl a style (i.e. floral, metallic, or mint lace) before you start shopping so that you know you’ll end up with a variety of looks that complement one another. We think this also works best when there’s one common thread, whether it’s “floral print” or “muted jewel tones” to keep the assortment looking cohesive.
