Alex and Tom took rustic elegance to the max in their Oklahoma wedding at The Barn at the Woods! Because the couple considers themselves “old souls,” they knew they wanted to incorporate vintage pieces, which they accomplished by using antique china plates they collected from both sides of their families. We love how they also used rustic antlers and farmhouse tables to show a bit of their outdoorsy side! The whole day was bathed in the glorious deep reds, pinks, and golds of fall. The bride truly dazzled in a rose-hued ombre tulle and sequin Needle & Thread dress and dramatic flower crown. Sarah Libby Photography managed to capture all of the intricate details as beautifully as the big moments – which included a surprise performance at the reception from the bride and groom’s family!

Thomas and I are very outdoorsy people. When he proposed he did it outdoors at his family’s ranch where we like to spend a lot of time together. We love being outside any chance we can get so when we saw our venue for the first time it was a no brainer. The weather was perfect and we could not of imagined a better place to say “I Do”.
My husband and I both consider ourselves “Old Souls”. It was important to me to find a dress that had a vintage look to it but was also something that matched my personality. My dress was very unique and I feel like the embellishments added the old fashioned flair I had always dreamed of. I simply added earrings because the dress on its own made such a statement.
One thing we think that sets our ceremony apart from others is that we had all 8 of our nieces and nephews walk down the aisle before us.
The bridesmaid’s dresses were convertible dresses, which I loved because they could all style them perfectly to match their body types.
With the ceremony and reception both being outdoors we went with more of a rustic elegance feel. We wanted everyone to feel comfortable but also have many touches of elegance throughout the venue.
One of my favorite personal touches from our wedding day was that we used vintage china from both sides of our families for everyone to use that evening! We just mismatched different floral patterns and it turned out great. I loved the fact that it tied in our relatives.
The most memorable part of our day was when Thomas’s three sisters, brother in laws, and nieces and nephews surprised us by playing the our first dance song, “Rivers and Roads” by the Head and the Heart. Abbey played the viola, Jenny on the cello, Emily sang, Robert on the tambourine, and Preston sang and played the guitar, while the kids all sang back up. We were truly shocked and I do not think there was dry eye in the room! A beautiful/emotional moment we will remember forever.
