Classy Florida Destination Wedding at Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club

July 28, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Dara and Lincoln’s wedding at Florida’s Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club proves that, sometimes, state-side destination weddings can be the best way to go! With family scattered across the country, the couple decided to pick a city in which nobody lived but that was easy to get to and that the bride was familiar with (after years of vacationing there with her family). The result was an elegant waterfront wedding that was as classy as it was laid-back. Although the ceremony and reception both took place inside the club, the copious amounts of natural light and the waterfront backdrop made it feel like it was right on the beach. Alisha Siegel Photography and second shooter Sarah Kuszelewicz Photography masterfully captured every lovely detail of this wedding, especially the magical confetti drop on the dance floor at the end of the night!

Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club, Miromar Lakes, Florida

Because we live in New York and our families are in Chicago and Los Angeles, we figured we might as well all go to a completely different city. We decided on Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club because we knew it so well. My family had been vacationing down there for years, so we knew the venue and the staff. It was like planning a destination in a place you’re completely familiar with (kind of cheating).

We had so much fun with our photographers, Alisha and Sarah. They just made everyone totally at ease. I had seen their work before, so I just completely trusted they would get amazing shots, and they did. The results were a mix of dynamic bridal party photos (yes, they do exist), gorgeous, artsy takes of the venue (yes, we seriously might just frame the super cool shots of palm trees they took), and in-the-moment action shots (confetti galore).

Rough Luxe Elopement in Miami at Ace Props

July 28, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

When Calista and Diego finally got the chance to plan the wedding of their dreams, they threw traditional wedding conventions out the door and opted for a stunning elopement at Ace Props! This industrial chic warehouse, which serves as both a rental shop and an event venue, provided the perfect backdrop for The Creative’s Loft to work their magic highlighting the worn, vintage, and rustic (i.e. “rough luxe”) vibe the couple loved so much. Amid all the beautiful details (and there were a lot!), the bride’s Laure de Sagazan wedding dress and custom Lia Terni headpieces definitely stole the show! They were the perfect combination of elegant and quirky, which pretty much sums up the entire day. Photographer Masson Liang had just the creative eye necessary to capture all of the fabulously stylish and truly unique details of this wedding!

The Wedding:

Ace Props, Miami, Florida

Ever since Diego and I met in the U.S., our lives have been a little bit crazy! We never got the time to prepare our wedding and celebrate our love because we had to arrange our civil ceremony quickly. Since that day, we had been wanting to celebrate our day properly. We knew that we wanted to plan something very intimate and unique!

On the morning of the wedding, Diego surprised me bringing our little puppy! We love dogs, and he knew it was one of my biggest desires to spend this day with her. It was one of the most special moments of the day for me!

We chose the Ace Props venue because it’s a hidden industrial warehouse in a random area of the city. It is truly a hidden gem that our planner brought to our attention. Since we were planning an elopement, we wanted the venue to be unique and different. The owners are a cute couple — and very well known locals from Miami — and they made us feel as if we were in our own home. Every corner has a story and a unique style.

The entire day was so special, however, if I have to pick just one, it was the ceremony. It was a very intimate moment, just the two of us, exchanging our vows and rings, promising to a lifetime together. The light was magical, the decor was more than what I expected, and I felt the happiest woman in this world!

One of the most crucial aspects for me was finding the planner of my dreams. Adri at The Creative’s Loft was a key factor in our day. It was essential to have her as my right-hand person because she has so much talent, creative vision, and style. She also provided us with cool ideas for everything from catering to florals, as well as helped us select a group of vendors who think outside of the box. It was very important for us to comply with the vision that we had in mind, and Adri and her team totally nailed it!

In addition to a great planner, having a close connection with the photographer was vital for both of us. We wanted to feel comfortable and get captured as we are. Masson Liang made it happened and we feel truly lucky for this, too!

When we defined our wedding day, we wanted something out of the ordinary. We have seen a lot of weddings, and we wanted to escape from the “traditional.” We thought that combining an industrial venue with the rough luxe trend was the perfect combination for our day! We have never seen a wedding like this, and that’s what we loved about it!

We DIY-ed the donut wall in collaboration with The Salty Donut. It was such a beautiful wall to display the donuts, and we had so much fun building it!

By far, my favorite part was styling my wedding day look! Immediately after we got engaged, I started to build a mood board on Pinterest to get a general idea of the bridal style that I wanted to go with! Laure de Sagazan, is one of my favorite European bridal designers. She has such a unique style! Because my dress was a very simple and elegant, I played around with some creative and visual accessories. I love headpieces and tiaras so, when Adri introduced me to Lia Terni, I fell in love with her collection immediately! We both worked on two original headpieces: a formal one for the ceremony and reception, and a tiara with peacock feathers for the party, dessert, and dancing. I had dreamt about wearing something like that ever since I was a little girl, and Lia made my dream come true!

This Villa Le Piazzole Wedding is Quintessentially Tuscan

July 27, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Emily and Kale’s intimate destination wedding had all the makings of a quintessential Tuscan party: gorgeous views over the Italian countryside, endlessly romantic moments, and a stunning Italian meal under the stars. The Canadian couple’s Villa Le Piazzole wedding was decorated with a natural greenery floral design, accents colors of blush and lavender, and terracotta pots filled with rosemary plants to emphasize Tuscany’s natural beauty. Photographer duo Shari + Mike documented every moment of Emily and Kale’s wedding beautifully, including the impromptu wedding day serenade they received from a traveling a’cappella group!

The Couple:

Emily and Kale

The Wedding:

Villa Le Piazzole, Tuscany, Italy

We wanted our guests to have an experience, something that they would remember and talk about for years to come. With that in mind we started thinking of what we thought our guests would enjoy the most and decided food and a great party needed to be a priority. Armed with our goals we started the search and we landed on Italy for 4 days in a Villa we could rent out exclusively.

We wanted our guests to experience all that Italy has to offer while keeping the overall look and feel of the wedding tradition and timeless. We started with the venue and chose a 15th century Villa which was surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. We rented the Villa out exclusively so that our guests could enjoy the all of the villa’s grounds. We then welcomed our guests with a pizza party where they learned how make authentic Italian pizzas in a forno oven this gave them the chance to get to know each other.

We were in Piazza del Duomo having photos with our photographers and we were flagged over by a group of people. This group was an a’cappella group who there for a competition and said they would like to sing us a Welsh love song. They started singing a beautiful song and when we looked up the whole square was full of people watching. It was one of those moments that we will keep with us forever.

Kale wore a black custom tailored tux with custom purple paisley silk lining and personalized monograming in his jacket. For accessories he wore black Prada shoes and his cuff link were a family heirloom passed down from my late mother.

When I was thinking about what we would wear we both agreed we wanted to look timeless and classic. I wore a lace Berta Bridal dress which was a backless and had a fun element in the illusion V-neck. I accessorized my dress with pearl drop earrings, a cathedral veil, and blue suede Christian Louboutins.

The wedding ceremony was in a small garden located on the Villa grounds and had a back drop or rolling tuscan hills and we had a tenor serenading them in Italian.

Our wedding was a very intimate including 18 of our closest family and friends. We worked very closely with Sofia, of Tuscan Pledges, to craft our ceremony and wrote our vows to each other to be very personal. The groom’s aunt did a special reading during the ceremony of “How Do I Love Thee.” The most memorable moment was walking down the aisle while the tenor sang, it was very moving. I saw Kale and all of our friends and I realized how lucky we were to have such an amazing group with us in an unbelievable setting.

Groom’s Processional: Bach – Cantata 147
Bridesmaid’s Processional: Pachelbel – Canon in D
Bridal Processional: Andrea Bocelli – Con te Partiro (Live)
Signing Song: John Legend – All of Me
Recessional: Il Volo – Mattinata (Live)
First Dance: Otis Redding- That’s How Strong My Love Is

I can’t say enough about how amazing our photographers were to work with. Mike and Shari go above and beyond to make sure that your are happy and that every shot captures who you are as a couple. They not only produce award winning images they also add an amazing element of fun and friendship to the wedding.

The wedding dinner was something I don’t think I will ever forget, everything was beautifully plated and the service was white gloved and very professional. We ate under the stars and laughed the night away.

As we were coming to Italy from Canada we were not able to do many DIY projects but we did manage to take on the favours for all of the guests. They were small vases which we filled with olive oil from Italy and rosemary sprigs. The favours were also the escort tags which we finished with hand calligraphy.

I think that it is important to pick what really represents you as a couple. We are both people who love to travel, enjoy good food and wine, and we wanted our guests to share in that. I think that we had a lot of “learning curves” for planning a destination wedding of this scale but I also think that it is important to never be deterred from your dream and vision.

The wedding cake was done in a traditional Italian style, this is where they make the cake in front of the guests and ask the bride and groom to help.
