Artsy Georgia Brunch Wedding at Sugarboo Farms

October 16, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Large blooms, glitter emoji purses, and all the pool floats your heart desires – this colorful, intimate wedding at Sugarboo Farms will have you smiling from ear to ear. Athefter nixing their original plans to have an evening wedding, Victoria and Bryan focused on their one true love: brunch. Victoria said her “I do” wearing her Hayley Paige bridal gown, and switched into a mini L’Agence dress that was perfect for relaxing by the pool with a drink in hand. Ben and Colleen photographed their special day and effortlessly captured the ultra-relaxed vibe Victoria and Bryan were going for.

The Couple:

Victoria and Bryan

The Wedding:

Sugarboo Farms, Blairsville, Georgia

I knew from the beginning I wanted a bohemian-bridal look. I wanted my dress to be different but still bridal. As soon as I put on the Hayley Paige dress, that was it. I loved the color of it and the detail. I loved how it felt different, but still made me feel like a bride. I had originally planned on having hair and makeup, but in my normal life I don’t really wear a ton of makeup and I like to get ready really quickly – when I had my hair and makeup trial I didn’t really feel like me when it was done. (and I REALLY didn’t want to get up at 5am to start the getting ready process for a 2pm wedding) I knew on my wedding day I wanted to feel like the best version of my everyday self.

My sister, best friend (who is basically my parents’ 3rd daughter), parents and I hung out at their hotel eating breakfast, putting on our makeup, and sharing memories. It was one of my favorite parts of the day. My bridesmaids wore lavender ballgown skirts with cropped, sleeveless ivory tops with a jeweled neckline. My sister, mom and I randomly found them in the separates section of Dillard’s and they were PERFECT. I found sparkly, emoji purses at Crewcuts that we carried for the reception. I worked at J.Crew for a long time and now work in Social Media, so the purses felt like such a fun fit.

We had seen Sugarboo Farms randomly on Instagram a couple years ago and always kept it in mind. We drove up to the mountains and went and saw it the weekend after we got engaged (Valentine’s Day!) and knew it was the one. It was FREEZING cold and pouring down rain and we still knew that was where we wanted to get married. We knew if we loved it that much freezing in February we didn’t need to see any other venues.

Ben and Colleen were amazing. There aren’t really any words to describe how well we clicked with them. It ended up being hotter than we planned the day of our wedding, and when my bridesmaids and I got to the venue a few hours before the wedding, I told Ben I really didn’t want to put my dress on and take a bunch of pictures outside and they totally rolled with it – and got the best pictures we could have imagined. I put my dress on about 45 minutes before the ceremony and we got amazing pictures of the girls without even going outside. Their biggest goal was our comfort because they knew it would translate into amazing pictures – and it DID. They also were so many places at once without us ever noticing they were. There are so many pictures I literally wonder “WHEN DID THEY GET THAT?!”

Libby Hockenberry of Amanda Jewel Floral and Design was our designer at Amanda Jewel, and we clicked immediately. She knew exactly what I was going for, sometimes before I did. When we had our last design meeting, she mentioned having bowls of fruit and nuts on the tables mixed in among the flowers as part of the decor. At the time, I couldn’t picture it, but I trusted her enough to know that it was going to be a perfect fit – and it was! It was one of my favorite parts of the design execution. The flowers – there are honestly no words for how beautiful they were. There’s zero way I could have ever imagined flowers that pretty could even exist. There were peonies the size of my head! It was unreal. They honestly created magic with their flower arrangements.

We also decided we wanted flowers to drive the colors and we KNEW we wanted pool floats, so once the fun and whimsy was there in that form, we tried to keep everything else more toned down. It’s in such a beautiful setting it felt weird to try and add too much.

I think our favorite moment was probably when we first got done with the ceremony, after the processional, we went back into the main farmhouse to cool off for a minute and let everyone get to the cocktail hour before we started pictures. I think that first moment where it just got to be the two of us for a minute was so special and definitely stands out as a highlight. Being introduced at the end of the cocktail hour was also a highlight. Walking up the stairs onto the patio where all of our friends and family were waiting was such a great feeling.

We initially planned on having the reception at night, but the more we started putting together the details, the more it felt like we were trying to force the reception we felt like we were “supposed” to have. I found myself looking the most forward to hanging out at the pool with family and friends and planning the menu for the day after brunch – so we switched gears, replaced a lot of candles with a lot of flowers and threw an amazing brunch/pool party reception! My advice would be go with your gut and do what feels like you.

Modern Mixed Metal Tulsa Wedding at Pearl District Building

October 15, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Savannah and Griffin’s Pearl District Building wedding was a shimmering, elegant fusion of modern and earthy vibes featuring a sparkling mix of gold, silver, and rose gold accents. The contemporary venue created a mood of downtown urban chic, with modern exposed brick, crystal chandeliers, and fabulously ornate décor. Assorted metals perfectly accented the color palette of cool-toned greens, blush, navy, and grey of the bridemaids’ mismatched dresses from Lulu’s. From the bride’s golden statement necklace, to whimsical details like gold and silver balloons, stunning macramé, and a fabulous wedding cake and decadent donut dessert table from Livi Lee’s Donuts. We love how much fun photographer Chelsea Bollinger had capturing this fun-loving couple and their large wedding party, from the bridesmaids getting celebrating on their balcony in silk, floral robes to the bride and groom enjoying a late-night snack from Lone Wolf food truck.

The Couple:

Savannah and Griffin

The Wedding:

The Pearl District Building, Tulsa, Oklahoma

The most important part in planning the wedding was that it reflected who we are. We wanted to throw a big party for all our friends and family.

I wanted a mixture of things. I really like simple but elegant. I chose more of a simple lace wedding dress that I had made. I wore Kendra Scott jewelry. My bridesmaids wore all different dresses from Lulus. They had three colors to chose from. The groomsman wore navy suits with grey ties.

We chose the first venue we looked at. It had everything we wanted. It was vintage with brick walls and lights everywhere. It had the perfect set up for our food truck.

We wanted our wedding to be like us. My husband is Native American, so we used a lot of his culture. I love bohemian and earthy, so we kinda mixed the two.

We grew up as neighbors when we were kids, so we planted a succulent using the dirt from our backyards. Our officiant was also our crossfit coach so that made it fun.

The song the bridal party walked out to was a song we found for a video my husband put together for me, “Light the Sky” by Lyonn. I walked down to Cassie Latshaw singing “Cleopatra” by the Lumineers. Our first dance was “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran.

Intimate and Down-to-Earth Wya Point Resort Wedding in Vancouver Island

October 15, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

O’Shea and Ignacio’s Wya Point Resort wedding was a three-day experience that celebrated the importance of friends and family, fun, and adventure in a beautifully magical setting. While searching for the perfect location, the couple looked for somewhere unforgettable, full of natural beauty, with no restraints on time or music, and conveniently close to civilization. Their gorgeous ceremony on a black sand beach, surrounded by rocky cliffs and lush forest was exactly what they had envisioned. With the exception of stunning, abundant florals by Compass Wedding Café and a few professions from the surrounding area, this incredible wedding was put together with the hard work and love of friends and family. We love how Scott Little Photography captured the intimate celebration and amazing views of the ocean, forests, and islands, but especially the couple that this day was all about.

The Couple:

O’Shea and Ignacio

The Wedding:

Wya Point, Vancouver Island, Canada

For us the most important aspect of planning our wedding was creating an experience that showcased the importance of our friends and family by having them all together for three days of fun, adventure, and bonding in a magical location.

Our ceremony was a true reflection of us and our unity as a couple. Because half of our family is from Mexico we asked our close friend Rafa to translate our ceremony into Spanish so everyone could enjoy and understand our commitment to one another. Maybe it was our love or maybe the magic that was in the air, but as we were saying our vows to one another, two eagles soared and hovered above us.

Ultimately we were looking for somewhere either in Vancouver or on Vancouver Island that was outdoors, could host and house all of our guests, somewhere that we could be for more than one day, somewhere with no noise restrictions as we are a Mexican Irish unity, somewhere magical and unforgettable, and somewhere that had close enough proximity to a town or somewhere interesting for our guests to visit or explore on their downtime. We came across Wya Point and it seemed to have everything we were looking for.

We are so thankful to Scott, he truly went above and beyond. Not only did he take photos from dawn till the wee hours of the wedding day, he took photos all weekend and somehow at all the right moments. We had asked for photos that were candid and unposed, with the exception of some of our couples’ shots, and he really hit a home run here, we honestly never knew where he was! Scott truly captured the magic of the entire weekend.

This was a wedding made by all of our friends and our family, not only from their hardwork and dedication, but by their presence and love. With the exception of just the few professionals from Ucluelet and Tofino, everyone listed are our close friends, all of the music, the food, the set-up, hair, make-up, everything was done by our friends and family! They all stand out!

The most memorable part of the day was when we walked into the tent to be greeted by all of our friends and family as Mr. and Mrs. A. Our wedding was put together with love and hard labour by our friends and family. When we walked into the tent to see how our friends and family had pulled together to decorate and set-up, it was amazing, way better than we could have ever imagined.
