There’s nothing quite like the lighting and feeling of a sunset, so it makes sense that Joshlyn and Chad wanted their elopement ceremony during golden hour. When planning their wedding, they realized they wanted an elopement in Italy where they could skip traditions and expectations. They wanted to celebrate their love how they wanted. They didn’t say goodbye to every tradition—they shared a first look at the luxury resort, Borgo Pignano, and wrote their own vows. 

To make their day even more special, Joshlyn and Chad received notes from their loved ones who sent their love and well wishes. Walking Away From Wedding Traditions

We’re proud of the fact that we knew what we wanted for our wedding and we made it happen. It can be hard to walk away from wedding traditions and expectations. Fortunately, we had support from our family to do an elopement-style wedding. We had an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience that reflected our values and who we are as a couple.

The most memorable part of the day was sharing our vows as the sunset behind the Tuscan hills. The sunset cast a golden glow across the fields as we expressed our love and commitments for our partnership.

Personalizing Their Sunset Borgo Pignano Elopement

We personalized our elopement by keeping it very intimate. We wrote our own vows the day before, put together a few words for our friend and photographer to recite about the meaning of partnership to read before we said our vows, and we planned everything ourselves. Every decision was made to our preference and felt very personal.
