This Downtown Knoxville Wedding at Jackson Avenue Terminal Has Tons of Vintage Flair

December 10, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Ashley and Paul’s Scottish-American wedding at Jackson Avenue Terminal, a historic restored freight train station in downtown Knoxville, featured plenty of understated cultural details, without going full tartan and kilt. The unique, urban venue of raw brick and exposed beams contrasted beautifully with the rosy, vintage color palette and fabulously elegant décor. An eclectic mix of turn-of-the-century industrial architecture, glamorous gold and silver candelabras, and reception tables heaped in dreamy florals. The bride’s vintage-inspired wedding day look featured an ultra glam long-sleeve Jenny Packham wedding gown with a Claire Pettibone cap veil for a timeless, classic feel. Samuel Franklin Florals created the oversized sepia-toned floral décor featuring a few subtle nods to the groom’s heritage – subtle Scottish heather and statement-making purple thistles, an ancient emblem of the nation. We love the stunningly oversized ceremony arch featuring winding, asymmetrical vines and romantic, pastel blooms. Texture Photo captured this sweet couple looking beautiful and breathtaking throughout their big day.

The Couple:

Ashley and Paul

The Wedding:

Jackson Avenue Terminal, Knoxville, Tennessee

Paul is from Scotland and Ashley is from Tennessee so we tried to have small nods from each culture. Our dear friend is a calligrapher so she made a special hand drawn stamp of a magnolia flower with a piece of Scottish Heather. Our hors d’ouevres reflected southern culture, and our music at the end of the night reflected Scottish and Irish tradition. We didn’t want to go full on boots and Tartan because that doesn’t reflect our true personalities but we certainly wanted pieces because we both have tremendous pride for where we are from.

Ashley loves the Biltmore estate in Asheville, North Carolina so her wedding and style inspiration was Cornelia Vanderbilt. Jenny Packham’s Eden gown felt so glam and eclectic and the Claire Pettibone Juliet cap veil was that perfect old school touch. The groom wore a classic navy Ted Baker suit with Louis Vuitton shoes. He picked out the floral ties andpockets squares from ASOS.

We wanted our wedding to feel comfortable so we, and our guests, could feel like we could have a good time. We wanted to enjoy our families, friends, and eachother.

Don’t be afraid to do what feels like you, even if it feels a little risky. Also, enlist the help of people that truly see your vision. Everyone we worked with saw pieces even beyond what we could see and it made our day totally incredible.

Everything was such a blur but during dinner we were able to sit at the front of the room and look around at everyone. This was probably the only time we would ever have so many of our dearest family and friends in one room together and we wanted to seal that in our hearts and minds.

We had a ton of guests flying in from all over the world and we really wanted them to experience Knoxville’s downtown area. Ashley actually lived next door to the reception venue and across from the ceremony site when she lived downtown.

Folksy Meets Edgy Fall Flower Farm Wedding Inspiration

Deeply inspired by fine art, ethereal beauty, and timeless romance, Artemis Photography created this stunningly beautiful styled flower farm wedding shoot. The haunting beauty of autumn and the ancient origins of the celebration of harvest influenced this wedding inspiration shoot, which is giving us major witchy vibes without the typically tawdry Halloween insignia. Folklore Flowers drew from the abundance of the fall harvest to create the gorgeous bridal bouquet, ceremony arbor, and eerie-inspired tablescape, featuring organic elegance and Autumnal color scheme provided by nature, leaning towards darker, moody, and magical colors. Every stem was cut or foraged from their small, sustainable, family-operated flower farm, from the weathered branch table runner to the rustic grapes and wheat topping the elegant wedding cake.

A Minimalist Approach Gave This Chamard Vineyards Wedding an Extra Personal Touch

December 9, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

The simplicity of Brittany and Frank’s Chamard Vineyards wedding made for a stunning and intimate day. The traditional New England winery was decorated with a minimalist vibe and lots of moody greenery to highlight the natural beauty of the expansive vineyards. The couple wed in an outdoor ceremony under a lush arbor draped with tons of foliage, including grapevines freshly cut from the venue’s grounds. The reception took place in a bespoke marque on the vineyard’s lawn, decorated simply with the eclectic mix of textured greens also found in the bride’s overgrown bouquet and elegant flower crown created by Stems Floral Design. The bride’s gorgeous Sarah Seven wedding dress featured an open back for a sleek and modern look with a classically timeless silhouette. Ali + Julie captured Brittany and Frank’s celebratory day and truly magical photos of the couple wandering through the vineyard at sunset.

The Couple:

Brittany and Frank

The Wedding:

Chamard Vineyards, Connecticut

Again, I went for a minimalist vibe here. I looked for a dress with no beading, lace, or frills. I wanted something that wouldn’t feel like a costume on me, and would be timeless in photos. I loved the clean lines and fabric of my dress, and that it made me feel slim, but was not over-revealing. My wedding party wore muted floral print floor-length gowns to match the vineyard vibe. The men wore navy blue and Frank wore a medium blue custom suit.

I love when people ask because I just don’t know how to answer – we didn’t have any colors! Neutrals? Greens? My favorite color is grey but we just used earthy colors and natural materials, didn’t pick a color at any point. We didn’t have flowers either, we had ‘moody greens!’

We wrote our own vows, which was great. We had both my parents walk me down the aisle (as opposed to just dad) and we picked songs andreadings to reflect us as a couple. We LOVED our readings!

Making sure that we wrote our own vows to each other, and of course, making sure that our guests had a great time! We also knew that the day would fly by so we wanted to book at talented photography team that would help us capture the moments that we knew we would miss.

All of our vendors were great, especially Sarah, our event planner, and Claire Carey from Chamard Vineyards who coordinated the whole thing. Our photographers, awesome live band, makeup andhairstylist! Our officiant, and of course our dear friend Justin who designed our rings custom by Lorraine Schwartz diamonds.

Our table numbers, ceremony bench signs, confetti bags, photo frames. My mom made the table numbers on glass bottles and the ceremony bench signs. We found the ideas online and then just made them. We stuffed small baking bags with confetti for guests to toss when we walked down the aisle.

First Dance –  “More Today Than Yesterday” – Spiral Staircase

The sunset photos of us on the stone wall, with my flower crown in and my hair down. It is just so natural and beautiful and I love how expansive the vineyard looks behind us. It’s magical!

From the moment we stepped onto the property at Chamard Vineyards we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. We loved that they offered farm-to-table catering through the venue, the scenery, and location in Connecticut. I grew up in Connecticut and visited the shoreline every summer, so the location was very special.

Our nieces, the flower girls, fell into the pond andhad to get changed out of their flower girl dresses. At least we got a few pictures of them before!
