Urban Boho Wedding at MadArt Studio in Downtown Seattle

September 23, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

When this wedding planner/floral designer bride planned her own wedding at MadArt Studio in downtown Seattle, she brought boho vibes with a touch of romance that was as unique as it was stunning. Allie and Jesse chose the art gallery venue because it was a blank canvas on which they could make their mark, and did they ever! They added seasonal blooms, pampas grass, a handmade hexagonal ceremony backdrop, black linens, a pink and gold accents to the space that gave it a totally distinct, fun-loving look. They also indulged in a champagne tower unity ceremony, two confetti drops, and a delicious display of donuts from Top Pot Doughnuts. Allie and Jesse truly made their wedding day a party from beginning to end, and Amy Galbraith Photography could not have captured it all more perfectly!

The Couple:

Allie and Jesse

The Wedding:

MadArt Studio, Seattle, Washington

The most important thing for us was that our wedding felt like us. Everyone that knows us knows we love, love. From the moment our guests walked in we wanted them to feel like they were at Allie & Jesse‘s wedding. We wanted our guests to experience the great love we have for each other and for all of them. As an event planner, I wanted there to be personal touches throughout the evening that would wow our guests. I wanted them to say multiple times throughout the event, “Wow, I have never seen that at a wedding!”

Both of us really were looking forward to our first look. I joked for months with Jesse, telling him that my dress was black or had a huge skirt. He knew I was working with a designer and said he didn’t believe me, but I knew he was nervous. I assured him that the dress was a match for my personality. When he saw me for the first time he said I looked beautiful and that the dress was perfect. He knows how much I love sparkle and sequins so I knew he would like it.

Make your wedding your own. From your look to your food, choose things that make you both happy! Your guests will appreciate it so much when they know that everything was chosen from the heart and are things you love. If you both love macaroni and cheese, then have macaroni and cheese for dinner. If you want your brother to be a bridesmaid, go for it. There are no rules for weddings anymore! For us, I love confetti and having a confetti drop was very important to us. It made the event feel like a crazy fun party and everyone loved it.

Our unity item was a champagne tower! We wanted our guests to feel taken care of and a part of our ceremony. After we poured our champagne tower, it was passed out to all of our guests, while Brandi Carlile’s, “The Story” played after our mom’s read the lyrics to the song.

We wanted to get married in the city. I came across this venue, which is an art gallery throughout the year, and you can rent it in between art installations. It was a beautiful blank space with great light and I fell in love. The icing on the cake? Its cross street is Thomas, which is our last name.

As a floral designer, I knew that I wanted to go with floral that was in season and went with the boho vibe. Incorporating deep purples and mauve with the giant protea gave us the feel we were looking for. Incorporating the pampas grass on our ceremony backdrop helped us tie in the boho feel throughout our day.

We gave out party poppers. Holidays at my grandma’s house were very special and they always started with party poppers. We wanted to share this tradition with our guests in honor of my grandma not being there.

The night shot was my favorite photo of the day. I am so glad that Amy and Jesse convinced me to do it! We had it built into the timeline, but when it came time to do it I really didn’t want to leave the dance party. In the end, I am so glad we did. It was the perfect last shot and so Seattle with the rain falling.

This Spanish Forest Elopement Inspiration Will Light Up Your Life with Its Unique Neon Ceremony Arch

September 22, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Picture this: A modern couple tucked away in a treehouse, getting ready for the biggest day of their life, who are then accompanied by a pair of wolves for their intimate forest elopement. Paloma Cruz Eventos and this talented team of vendors made this unique vision come to life, and photographer Pablo Laguia captured it in breathtaking detail. We can hardly get over the cozy moments in the Cabañas en Los Árboles treehouse and the impeccable bridal fashion that included a fringe and lace gown from Immaclé, black tassel earrings, and a feathered crown from Verbena Madrid. But it was the neon arches at their ceremony location that made our jaws drop because they were simultaneously unexpected but felt totally normal. If you’re a non-traditional couple who loves bohemian, earthy, and edgy vibes, we have a feeling this forest elopement inspiration is just what you’ve been waiting for!

This Elegant Rustic Smoky Hollow Studios Wedding Proves the Beauty is in the Details

September 22, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

When you’ve got an urban/rustic venue like Smoky Hollow Studios and a draw-dropping, crystal-topped wedding gown, the simplest of details really do go a long way! Brittany and Ben aimed to create a laid-back wedding with a hint of glam style that properly showed off their personalities, and they nailed it. Their urban venue had a distinctly rustic feel and so much character that just adding greenery and ivory florals designed by Romance & Revelry was enough to set the stage for an unforgettable event. Brittany and her girls also created a simple yet beautiful tulle and lace ceremony backdrop that added softness against the brick and metal architecture. All of the details came together beautifully to create a casual feel in a totally elegant way, and Gipe Photography could not have captured it all more perfectly!

The Couple:

Brittany and Ben

The Wedding:

Smoky Hollow Studios, El Segundo, California

I walked into Bridal Elegance Studio and the first thing my stylist asked me was how I felt about sparkle. I immediately replied, “No sparkles.” We turned the corner and I said, “Except that one!” as I saw the gorgeous dress that would eventually become mine. It was so dramatic and unique with a bit of an edge to it while being totally feminine. It was nothing I ever expected to wear, and I absolutely loved it!

Our first look was definitely the most meaningful part of the day because we had time and space to be together before the chaos and connect. At that moment, all the nerves we had were calmed immediately. The second most memorable part of the day was taking a step back from the party to watch the packed dance floor going wild and being so grateful for all of the people who have made us who we are and who have loved us so well.

Smoky Hollow Studios was the only wedding venue for us! It has an urban/rustic feel to it while being incredibly gorgeous and charming. Also, I really wanted to get married in El Segundo because my dad was an El Segundo Police Officer there for 30 years. He passed away two years ago, so having our wedding in El Segundo felt really meaningful.

Because the backdrop of our ceremony was a brick wall, we created a backdrop of lace and tulle to help soften it up. My sister and bridesmaid glued strip after strip of cut up fabric to an 8-foot pole to hang up on an archway at the venue. It was a tedious task but it turned out exactly like we hoped!

If it’s important to you, do it! If you don’t want to do something, don’t do it! It’s your wedding. Do what you want to do and give yourself permission to push tradition and other peoples’ opinion to the side. This is your day!
