This Vibrant San Miguel de Allende Elopement Inspiration Highlights Your New Favorite Destination Spot

November 10, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

If you think destination weddings in Mexico have to be constrained to the beach towns of Tulum or Cabo, think again! Lilly Red Creative and Maria Limon have made us fall head-over-heels for San Miguel de Allende in this incredible elopement inspiration, which takes us through the vibrant streets of this UNESCO World Heritage site. The talented team fully embraced the culture and energy of this historic town with every detail, most notably with a Mojiganga parade that included mariachis, a donkey, and 8-foot-tall puppets created by Hermes Arroyo. The bride’s stunning Costarellos gown and eclectic gold accessories and various hairpieces and hats, along with the groom’s classic black and white suit, were the uber-stylish cherries atop this unbelievable destination elopement inspiration!

One of the most fun parts of planning a destination wedding is embracing the culture of the place you are going to get married. We created this editorial to show one of the most gorgeous towns in Mexico — that isn’t Cabo or Tulum — for destination weddings: San Miguel de Allende.

San Miguel de Allende is a colorful and vibrant colonial town full of history. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site and is full of charm. But there is one thing that especially captured my attention: the traditional Mexican Mojiganga. It is a parade where the bride and groom walk through the streets with 8-foot tall puppets that represent them, dancing with the mariachi and donkey processional. Our groom wore a black suit and our bride stole the show by wearing a Costarellos wedding gown. She had a handmade hat that brought together the perfect mix of elegance and fashion.

Urban Chic Gramercy Park Hotel Wedding in New York City

November 10, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Chic big city vibes met tropical island feels in Amel and Julio’s Gramercy Park Hotel wedding in New York City! The intimate rooftop of the iconic hotel was the perfect place for this couple’s fusion styles to come together into one unique celebration. The details included tropical-inspired and textural floral arrangements created by Buds of Brooklyn, a scrumptious cake baked by Samantha Bakes Cakes, and sophisticated paper goods designed by Kelsey Malie Calligraphy. But the true showstoppers were the couple’s stylish fashion choices, which included Amel’s eye-catching Limor Rosen gown and Julio’s custom velvet tuxedo jacket. From beginning to end, this wedding brought the coolest and most sophisticated urban wedding vibes, and UNIQUE LAPIN Photography captured it all perfectly!

The Couple:

Amel and Julio

The Wedding:

Gramercy Park Hotel, New York City, New York

The most important thing to us was to stay true to who we are as a couple. We wanted the guest list to be small and make sure the wedding felt intimate and romantic. Our style is urban-chic mixed with minimalist modern, so we tried to keep everything as close to our vibe as possible. We created our own flow of events, had our best friend officiate, included aspects of both our cultures and did what we felt reflected our view of what marriage means to us.

There were so many great memories from the day! One of our favorites was minutes after we were married and walked out as “Mr. & Mrs.” to be greeted by all of our family and friends! It was such an incredible, surreal feeling to have both sides of our families and our closest friends under one roof, all happy, enjoying the beautiful day! Pure bliss, I tell ya.

As soon as we walked onto the rooftop at Gramercy Park Hotel, we knew that was it! When a guy from the big city serendipitously falls in love with a girl from a far-away island, its only fitting to throw a party that spells out the urban jungle. The Gramercy Park Hotel rooftop was exactly that! This historic New York venue is effortlessly chic and the roof is intimate, romantic, and magical.

We gave each of our guests a rose quartz crystal because we believe in the strength of the Earth’s power stones. So, it was only fitting to give the people we care about the most a stone that symbolizes love. We loved the idea of packing in all the good vibrations from the wedding and sending the crystals on their merry way!

We’re Certifiably Obsessed with The Boho Beachy Vibes in This Ana y José Tulum Wedding

November 9, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

We might be in the middle of autumn, but we’ve got all the heart eyes for Laura and Keaton’s summer beach wedding at Ana y José Tulum in Mexico! The creative couple wanted a casual, boho vibe for their special day, and Lucy Gallagher Boutique Weddings helped bring that dream to life. Between the large circular floral ceremony wreath and fruit-accented table centerpieces created by Cherry Blossom, the vintage rugs, and the soft textiles, every inch of this day felt boho, beachy, and perfectly curated. Junebug member Surveyor Creative did an incredible job capturing every angle of this gorgeous design and every sweet moment this couple shared from beginning to end!

The Couple:

Laura and Keaton

The Wedding:

Ana y José Tulum, Mexico

Our most important thing was that we wanted our closest friends and family to help us celebrate our relationship! We wanted it to be very intimate and laid-back, but at the same time still a huge all-out celebration!

Think about the things that matter the very most to you, and focus on those! To me, it was worth it to cut out a few things that weren’t as important to us, in order to be able to spend more on things we really cared about!

My mom and sister are both musicians (piano + cello), so they recorded versions of both “Oh” by Coldplay and “Turning Page” by Sleeping At Last, and that is what I walked down the aisle to! It was so personal and so special to me. Our recessional song was “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles, and our first dance was “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges!
