Pops of Color Were the Perfect Accent to This Chic Neutral Dairyland Wedding

December 5, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

The modern decor and chic style that Mandy and Nate chose for their rustic Dairyland wedding could not have been a more perfect combination! This couple’s lovely day was the total package with a casual outdoor ceremony and a farmstead reception that featured modern decor, boho accents, and pops of red and orange in the bouquets and centerpieces designed by Juniper Flowers. But it was really the bride’s Sarah Seven gown and the groom’s Marc Jacobs that stopped the show and looked remarkable in all these photos captured by Allison Harp Photography. To keep the vibe casual and cool, the couple focused on picking music that represented themselves, provided a taco dinner complete with Hot Hot Sauce Sauce favors, and even swapped traditional programs for custom newspapers about their life. All in all, this Dairyland wedding was such an authentic expression of love — and we’re completely obsessed!

The Couple:

Mandy and Nate

The Wedding:

Dairyland, Snohomish, Washington

From the groom: Its hard to say what the most memorable part of the day was because there were so many. But, what came to me first was seeing her for the first time in her dress. She was the embodiment of beauty. An effortless bride. The sun was beaming behind her and her skin was glowing. I’ll never forget that moment.

From the bride: The most important part of wedding planning was bringing our friends and family together in a way that they felt connected and loved.

From the groom: For me, the music was the most important part of wedding planning. I searched constantly for the music that accurately described the bond that we shared. This helped create the overall vibe of the celebration, as well.

From the bride: From the moment Nate introduced me to his old classmate Sarah Seven — who’s a fantastic dressmaker — I fell in love with her pieces! They are classic, elegant, and timeless. So, before we were engaged, I already knew that was the direction I’d go in. When we were dress shopping, my sister actually pulled out the dress and I was immediately blown away by the drama and the uniqueness of it.

From the groom: My suit was by Marc Jacobs that I found at a sample sale. Subconsciously, the inspiration was probably Scarface.

From the bride: The most memorable parts of our day were looking into Nate‘s eye’s and reciting our vows, listening to the speeches from our loved ones, and our first dance. Really, every moment was pretty amazing!

From the couple: We gave our guests personalized Hot Hot Sauce Sauce that our friend — and officiant — makes. We thought it an appropriate gift, especially since we had Neon Taco for the dinner! We also gifted two albums I created from two different bands, and Mandy made newspapers that told the story of us and our friends and family.

This Modern Italian Garden Wedding at Villa La Vedetta is Enchanting AF

December 4, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Between the unreal views of the Duomo and the romantic, garden-inspired al fresco reception, Elizabeth and Rory’s wedding at Villa La Vedetta was basically an Italian destination fairytale come to life! Elizabeth, who owns Mighteor, put her artistic visual skills to full use with the help of the talented team at Nomad Republic International. Together, they created a romantic celebration inspired by the gardens and muted colors of the villa, complete with exquisite florals designed by Julie Guittard Fleuriste, a vintage gelato cart provided by Cassia Vetus, and a ride on a carousel to finish the night. In keeping with the soft and romantic Italian vibe, Elizabeth chose a blush gown from Monique Lhuillier that could not have looked more beautiful against the garden backdrop. Every single moment of this wedding day, from the first look to the couple’s self-solemnized ceremony, was picture perfect and wildly enchanting! Our day has been made by these stunning images Aberrazioni Cromatiche Studio captured!

The Couple:

Elizabeth and Rory

The Wedding:

Villa La Vedetta, Florence, Italy

The most important thing for both of us was making our wedding stress-free, fun and enjoyable for all our guests. Too many of our friends told us that their weddings were stressful, overwhelming, or caused tension. So we decided: let’s just have an adventure with the people we love! Let’s have fun. Let’s laugh. Let’s drink beautiful wine and eat unbelievable food. And, as a bonus, let’s get married during all that!

For the last 14 years, I have worked in video production and I know from my work that one of the most important things you can do to create beautiful visuals is to pick the right location. For us, Villa La Vedetta had every visual I could have dreamed up. The garden environment for our ceremony. The gorgeous views of Florence for dinner. The classic Italian architecture for our photos. Quick access to beautiful historical stops for more photos. It was an easy choice once we saw its location on the map.

We opted to self-solemnize, which means that we did not have an officiant for our ceremony. Instead, we crafted a ceremony that reflected how independent we both are as individuals. Rory welcomed everyone to the wedding and talked about how we got to this point in our lives — where we could be two people starting a new love story because of our parents. Our parents then each provided blessings and prayers. Their words still touch my heart in both what they chose to say and how they chose to say it.

Probably the most special part of the day was when we “married ourselves” in lieu of an officiant performing the marriage tradition. When you self-solemnize, you can do what you want! So instead of someone asking us if we take one another as husband and wife, we proclaimed in front of everyone that we were choosing each other. Making that strong proclamation and choice in front of the people we love most felt really powerful!

And probably one of my favorite parts was we had a toast in the middle of our ceremony! After we signed our marriage certificate, I offered a toast to our guests. I thanked them for traveling so far to celebrate with us and toasted the love they have brought to our lives. I highly recommend a mid-ceremony toast!

We did two DIY projects. First, we printed photos of all our parents and grandparents on their wedding days and shared them at our photo station. It was so lovely to have our grandparents loves stories represented even though they have all passed. Second, I have had a rock collection for as long as I can remember. So, we used those agates and crystals as decor on our photo table and in our photos. To me, it was just another lovely, natural element amongst the greenery!

If you are having an international wedding, just hire a planner. They are so much more equipped to deal with the challenges and will allow you to focus on the marriage instead of the wedding. My husband has a really dynamic job and I run my own company. We didn’t have the time or the desire to deal with contracts, vendor sourcing, and scheduling. Hiring Nomad Republic International was easily the best decision we made!

Utterly Romantic Pastel Western Cape Wedding at Montpellier de Tulbagh

December 3, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Carmen and Paul’s South African wedding at Montpellier de Tulbagh was an unforgettable celebration of love, family, community, and the start of a life-long journey! The couple wanted their wedding to feel like a bohemian-inspired al fresco affair, which they accomplished with the help of their planner at I Do Box. Using a palette of pastels, the prettiest seasonal florals designed by Anli Wahl, and twinkle lights galore, they mixed laid-back, boho vibes with upscale, elegant details that looked straight out of a garden party. We can’t get enough of how special Carmen and Paul made this day for themselves and for their son, and how each photo captured by Dearheart Photos includes not only gorgeous wedding details but the sweet, candid emotions of the hope and joy they share as a family.

The Couple:

Carmen and Paul

The Wedding:

Montpellier de Tulbagh, Cape Town, South Africa

I think the most important thing to us about planning our day was making sure that it included our 4-year-old son, Cruz, and that, as much as it was about us, we wanted it to be just as memorable and special for him. We wanted to ensure that the day was centered around family and friends and true to us and our unique love story.

We visited the venue in 2012, while we were staying in a small town in Tulbagh, in the Western Cape (approximately an hour outside of Cape Town) for a friend’s wedding. Our son (18 months at the time) fell in love with the big Chevy truck they had on the farm. So, when we were planning our own wedding, we wanted a venue that helped complete our story. We remembered this old farm with beautiful lawns, a beautiful old chapel on a hill, and the big Chevy truck our son adored and felt that this would be the perfect venue for us to celebrate with friends and family. Plus it was in Cape Town, which is where we met, had our son, and found recovery. So in a way, it completed our love story.
