This Kansas Wedding at Home is Chock Full of Emotional Moments and Neutral Hues for Your Pinterest Board

April 7, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

It’s hard to say what we loved most about Madison and Dylan’s Kansas wedding because, honestly, this special day was a total knockout! The couple’s outdoor ceremony was bursting with joy and heartfelt worship, and the natural setting at the bride’s parent’s home made it all the more beautiful. To complement the earthy feel of the space, the couple chose neutral hues — inspired by the bridesmaids’ mismatched dresses — and added deep red accents for a truly elegant and romantic look. For a slight bohemian feel, they also included antlers, wood table accents, and mismatched candle holders and vases. No detail was left unattended, and Monique Serra Photography did a fabulous job capturing every bit of this beautiful wedding!

The Couple:

Madison and Dylan

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Hays, Kansas

I had been dreaming about my wedding day since I was a little girl, so it was exciting to be able to watch my vision come to life during planning. But the most important aspect for our wedding day to reflect was the love of God. My husband and I had an extremely hard breakup about two years before our wedding day, and I learned so much about what God’s faithfulness and love looked like, and I wanted to put that on display.

For our wedding vibe, I wanted everything to look and feel earthy but glam and eclectic all at the same time. One aspect that I really believe set the tone for my overall look was my mismatched bridesmaids’ gowns. I actually chose my bridesmaids’ gowns before I decided on colors or before I picked out my wedding dress. Their gowns gave me all my inspiration! I love deep reds and greenery, as well, and I wanted to tie that in.

The whole day was so memorable because I felt God’s presence everywhere and I felt so much peace and joy. But when I get asked about the most memorable part of my day, two images come to my mind. The first being the image of me waiting to walk down the aisle. The plan was for my dad and me to drive up to the ceremony in his vintage Ford pickup. Before we started driving though, my dad asked how I was feeling. Right at that moment, I felt God’s presence in the most tangible way, and I started to cry because I knew that my earthly father and Heavenly Father would walk me down the aisle to leave my old self and become one with my new husband.

The second most memorable moment was when I met my husband at the aisle and our live band began playing the worship song, “Good, Good Father.” We had asked our guests to sing praises to our Father and I remember the power of proclaiming that song while staring at my husband was the most amazing moment I’ve ever felt in my life. I was staring at the man of my dreams and I was in the midst of a marriage I never thought would happen, but His faithfulness prevailed. I was marrying a man who loves Jesus and who always puts my needs before his. A man who is one of the most selfless persons I know and, while I stared at him, I felt completely and utterly unworthy for all the blessings that had been poured over me.

The best planning advice I would give to someone is to focus on where the treasure is in your day. What does your heart most look forward to? Is it to marry the one you love? Or is it on all the tiny details? I loved picking out my colors and all the beautiful decor and getting to dress up in a beautiful white gown, but I learned that walking down the aisle and saying “yes” to all the promises of marriage was more important than stressing over everything else! Have a vision for your day, enjoy planning that vision, but don’t get caught up in things that don’t matter. Time flies the day of your wedding so try to live in the moment as much as possible!

Our photographer was and is one of my favorite human beings to this day! We first met on our engagement shoot and I felt like she went above and beyond to make us happy. Monique is so laid back but she knows what she’s doing and is extremely personable. She made my entire experience so fun and I consider her one of my friends! The day of it felt like she was a friend I had known forever and it’s really special to be able to work with someone that genuinely cares about every detail.

Positively Sweet Pastel German Wedding at The Waldvogel Hotel

April 6, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

There’s nothing sweeter than the love and attention that goes into a DIY wedding, like Corina and Daniel’s wedding at The Waldvogel Hotel! The couple, along with their family and friends, handmade so many elements of their day, relying on simple greenery arrangements and pretty signage to add a subtle elegance that was just right for both the church and the hotel venues. The bride was a vision in a two-piece Kala Noel lace ensemble, and the bridesmaids’ soft floral-print dresses from Chi Chi London complemented the overall vibe perfectly. But, aside from the pretty details, the love and passion that Kaley from Kansas captured between Corina and Daniel were really what set this wedding apart. From the first touch to the first dance, every moment was pure romance.

The Couple:

Corina and Daniel

The Wedding:

The Waldvogel Hotel, Leipheim, Bavaria, Germany

For us it was so important to be able to make everyone feel comfortable especially during the ceremony where so many people had never really been to a Christian ceremony, and to our surprise, lots of people really loved that part of the day.

Worshiping with friends and family was so special. Our ceremony was held in both English and German, and our friends lead the worship. There were so many special things during the ceremony; it definitely was a perfect start to our marriage.

Colorful Multicultural Wedding at Château Grand Boise in the South of France

April 5, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Caroline and Luis transported the vibrancy of Mexico to France in their unbelievably fun wedding at Château Grand Boise! The couple wanted to weave both of their cultures and backgrounds into every aspect of their special day and the result was nothing short of spectacular. One Day Event channeled the colors of the rainbow for their floral design and the couple added DIY pinatas, paper goods, and favors to round out the decor. From the colorful garden ceremony to the fun-filled, dance-till-you-drop reception, Blossom&Co was there to capture every moment of this one-of-a-kind multicultural wedding!

The Couple:

Caroline and Luis

The Wedding:

Château Grand Boise, Provence, France

The ceremony was, without a doubt, the most memorable part of the entire weekend. I will never forget the moment I saw Caroline walking down the aisle with her father and the uncontrollable emotions that ensued for us both.

Since we chose to have a nonreligious ceremony, the entire thing really felt like a blank slate, open to translation and interpretation. Our wedding officiant, Katia, was instrumental in the personalization of our ceremony and took her time to get to know us and our relationship in order to make that moment as special and personal as possible. We even chose not to perform any rituals that nonreligious ceremonies often include because we felt that the words being said would feel ritual enough.

The ceremony was also bilingual, which is challenging for even the greatest speakers to give on their own, so we had Caroline‘s cousin speak for the English portion while our officiant handled the French. Having such a close family member be so embedded in our ceremony definitely helped make it special and personal.

The vendors are everything, especially when you are trying to plan a wedding from across the world. Finding people that we trusted and that we felt shared our vision was crucial in how everything turned out. When you’ve finally made it to your wedding day, enjoy the moment, you deserve it! Make sure you take your time with the people you love, it goes by quick. Make a plan for who you want to be photographed with, and try to stick to it, it’s easy to forget during your day!

Our decision for the overall theme of the wedding came very naturally for us because we come from different cultural backgrounds and places in the world. We both wanted our wedding to reflect that, but also how well we felt our backgrounds blended well together and wanted to embrace that. Our theme was “Provence/Mexico,” which is how we came to choose our colors. We settled on multicolored elements peppered throughout our day to bring a bright, fun, and festive vibe to everything. The inspiration for adding these colorful pops came from the Mexican portion of our theme. Bright colors are also a beautiful, contrasting background in photos.

We had quite a few DIY elements, most of all were our invitations, ceremony booklets, and other paper goods that Caroline used watercolor to design. The mini pinatas that we used for table decorations were also 100% DIY. We also did our party favors ourselves by filling up mini linen pouches with lavender seed and topping it off with a custom, personalized stamp.
