Rustic Boho San Luis Obispo Wedding at Holland Ranch

December 10, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

When Katie and Tanner described their dream wedding vibe to Kylie Morgan Photography, they said, “Free People meets modern” — and we can’t think of a better way to describe their day at The Holland Ranch! We’re totally swooning over every ounce of emotion, love, and stunning details that showed off their personalities. It was important that the little details and style choices told a story about the bride and groom, so Katie rocked a timeless Made With Love gown and cathedral-length veil, and Tanner was looking dapper in a classic suit from Men’s Wearhouse. The party was also a raging success! With the most adorable Tinker Tin photo booth to Avenue Twelve rentals and lovely blooms designed by Aurelia Flora, these decor choices will have your Pinterest board looking fab! If you’ve been dreaming of a rustic, boho wedding, this one’s for you!

The Couple:

Katie & Tanner

The Wedding:

The Holland Ranch, San Luis Obispo, California

My wedding day look was definitely one that portrayed who I am as a person. I wore the Made With Love “Stevie” gown, which is so timeless and beautiful. I paired my gown with the Stevie Cathedral veil. Since I was a little girl, I always knew I would wear a veil on my wedding day. No matter how much time passes, I think veils are such a beautiful element to a bride. I wore Jeffrey Campbell disco-ball crystal heels which totally emphasized my glam side and then for the reception, I, of course, needed to get down on the dance floor and also be comfortable so I changed into white leather cowboy boots to represent my inner country girl.

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Make it a date! Seriously, we would schedule out a wedding planning night and sit down with a good meal and good drinks and just plan away. Also, involve your fiancé! Tanner was so involved in the wedding planning process and it made it so special because when the day finally arrived, we both could look at everything and be so proud of it together.

We chose Holland Ranch because right when we toured it, Tanner said he could vividly see me walking down the aisle towards him and that’s when we knew! The barn our venue had made for the best dance party ever and we both love to dance. Our venue is in San Luis Obispo, which is such a special city to us and is where we both went to college together.

We chose to do personal and traditional vows. We did this because personal vows were always something we wanted to do but we also wanted to share the traditional vows that our parents shared on their wedding days, too! We also took a minute and prayed with each other; no music, no pastor, just us two. We choose to do this because we wanted to 1. take in the moment with God and 2. pray for each other before we started our lives together. It was so special and sacred.

Our photographer, Kylie Morgan, did an outstanding job with not only photographing the most beautiful photos but also just being such an incredible person from the day we met her! She went above and beyond to make sure we were cared for and still goes above and beyond to this day to make sure we are doing good!

Our wedding vibe was a little different than usual. It’s funny because we are totally not super rustic-styled people, but our venue was 100% rustic! The rustic element of the venue reminded us of my family’s vacation home in Idaho — which is where Tanner proposed to me! We planned and designed our wedding totally on our own, and since I’m a wedding photographer, we were able to get a ton of inspiration from numerous weddings. We wanted our wedding vibe to be unique, yet still be timeless. Since our venue was more rustic, we wanted to veer away from the design elements being rustic, so we added in a lot of boho modern elements like gold glassware, amber goblets, marble plates, and a ton of dried florals. Our florals are seriously what made the most dreamiest boho-desert vibe! Dried florals and a hint of green is my all time fav!

We did a ton of vintage hunting and went to local garage sales, antique stores, and thrift shops to find all of our gold candle sticks for the center pieces!

Planning a wedding has so many parts (some fun and some a little more challenging) but we both agreed at the end of the day the most important thing to us was that everyone attending our wedding would have the best night. We wanted our wedding to be a huge party for all of our people so we made that our main priority though the wedding planning process. When we would feel overwhelmed over details during the planning, we would take a step back and remind ourselves that whatever it looks like really doesn’t matter in the end, what it feels like is what we cared about most!

Creative Proposal Ideas for Popping the Question in Style

December 9, 2019 | riley

The leaves are starting to change and snow is getting ready to lightly dust the ground where you live, which means that it’s about the be our most favorite season of all–proposal season! With diamond rings in pockets, people across the world are preparing to pop the question. Getting that moment just right can put a lot of pressure on a person, so we’re here to help with creative proposal ideas to surprise your future fiance.

Creative Proposal Ideas

1. Beach Picnic

If your significant other is a big beach lover, take them to the place they love most. Organize a picnic with pillows, blankets, and their favorite foods so you can enjoy a celebratory snack as soon as they say yes!

2. Scavenger Hunt

There’s nothing we love more than scavenger hunt proposals. Organize a hunt consisting of stops to the places that mean the most to you and your relationship–i.e., your first date spot, where you shared your first kiss, where you first said “I love you,” etc. The final stop can either be somewhere that is already special to the two of you, or it can be a brand new location that will become a new memorable spot.

3. Rent A Greenhouse

There’s something oh-so-romantic about being surrounded by lush greenery and tall glass windows and ceilings. If your partner is a big plant lover or loves being surrounded by nature, this is the perfect option.

4. Surprise Them With Their Family

Incorporating your future spouse’s family into the proposal is a surefire way to pull on their heartstrings. Whether it’s including them in the proposal itself or surprising them after the fact, they will absolutely love having the people that mean the most to them with them on one of the most special days of their life.

5. Nature Hike

Do you and your future fiance always go on grand adventures in the great outdoors? If so, it’s only fitting that you tie in your love for hiking and adventuring into your proposal. Plus, the hike is a great distraction from the nerves you’re most likely going to be feeling before you pop the question.

6. Propose During A Couple Shoot

If you can manage it, organize a couple shoot with a local photographer. If your partner is likely to find this suspicious, consider doing it around the holidays. You can use your holiday card as an excuse.

7. Take A Helicopter Ride

Looking to get really creative? There’s nothing more unique than a helicopter or plane ride to the top of a mountain. Whether it’s in your hometown or an excursion while on vacation, it’s a chance to take your love to new heights–literally.

8. Boat Ride

Take your love onto the water for this one. If you’re looking for something luxurious, go on a private sailboat ride. If you’re looking for something a little more down to Earth, hit the lake in a canoe and ask the big question in the middle of the water!

Now that these creative proposal ideas have helped you get your plan in order, you’re going to need the ring to make it all happen. Be sure to check out our step-by-step engagement ring guide! And of course, don’t forget these 8 tips for nailing your engagement photos.

The Floral Design in This Les Domaines de Patras Wedding Will Blow Your Mind

December 9, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

We’re singing floral design praises to the incredible masterpieces Fleurs de fée created for Florine and Florian’s romantic Les Domaines de Patras wedding! Inspired by the feeling and colors of fall, this couple’s dreamy event was filled with an interesting mix of dried plants, fresh flowers, and many different textures. We love how Lorenzo Accardi captured this day, documenting every little detail and emotion-filled moment. Wait until you see how stunning Florine looked in her theme-fitting floral appliquéd Rime Arodaky gown and so much more from this stunning day!

The Couple:

Florine & Florian

The Wedding:

Les Domaines de Patras, Provence, France

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Identify what is important for you and your husband (flowers, photographer, food, etc.) — it helps with your choices! Do everything with a lot of heart. People will feel it during the day, and it will be even more magical. Also, to-do lists are keys! As soon as I had an idea, I wrote it on my to-do list on my phone! Finally, do not choose your wedding dress too early because your wishes and tastes can change.

I saw pictures of Les Domaines de Patras, and I had immediately a crush. We visited this venue very quickly after and we completely fell in love. We were enchanted by all the magical places of the venue, by the nature around and by the fact that there are backup solutions in case of rain. Finally, we had a very good feeling with the owners — it’s very important! Kety (the owner of the place) and her assistant Marina played a key role in the organization of our wedding. They helped us in all our organization and overall, they coordinated all the D-day. It was a great help for us and we are very thankful!

I definitely recommend our wedding designer: Antoinette Martin from Fleurs de Fée! She perfectly understood the vibes that I wanted for our wedding. She was listening, attentive and patient. Her advices was precious and she was very professional. Overall, Antoinette & her team created a MAGICAL set up during the D-day. I am so grateful, they offer me the wedding of my dreams.

The ceremony was such an intense moment! When I arrived at the ceremony place, I saw Florian in the foreground and all of our friends and family standing! The music was so emotional: “Halo” by Beyonce. This moment will remain in our memories forever.

The most important in planning our wedding was the venue, all the wedding design (flowers and decoration), and the photographer. The photographer was so important because he provided us our memories for life. Lorenzo, our amazing photographer, perfectly fulfilled his mission!

Our wedding was at the end of the summer and the beginning of fall, which was the starting point of our reflexion with Antoinette from Fleurs de Fée. We were inspired by fall colors and by the nature at this time of the year. I have a passion for dried plants, so we thought to mix dried plants with fresh flowers — it was perfect for the fall mood of our wedding. I also wanted to have a very natural, wild, and delicate floral combined with mineral and organic material (linen, wicker, rattan, leather, and sleek ceramics).
