This Agriturismo Savoca Wedding is a Sicilian Woodland Wonderland

January 17, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Serenity, mysticism, and harmony were among the words Claudia and Fabio wrote down when dreaming of their wedding day. Their magical, fairytale-inspired day at Agriturismo Savoca surrounded by tall, lush trees, was nothing short of their dreams come true! The couple made every choice intentionally, including their decision to use green as their main color, as it symbolizes life, luck, and hope. We’re simply enchanted by the photos Federica Cavicchi captured of Claudia and Fabio’s ceremony filled with rituals and elements of earth, wind, and air. If whimsical details, custom made wedding gowns, and special traditions are your thing, you’re sure to fall in love with this storybook day at Agriturismo Savoca in Italy!

The Wedding:

Agriturismo Savoca, Sicily, Italy

I wanted to have a wide and at the same time tight and sensual princess dress. I managed to get both. I liked being able to remove the wide skirt placed over it, mid-evening, giving the impression of having a completely different second dress. From princess to mermaid. Even the details in the hair was a choice I really loved. Streaks lost among waves that ended with feathers which were present almost everywhere: in the bunch, among the flowers and in the eyelets of the groom, of witnesses and pageboys.

We were looking for a forest venue. Our desire was to walk a natural aisle, composed of trunks of trees and not of stone or marble columns. Something buried to rediscover, traditions and truths easy to relive. Based on the most popular fairy tales in the world, of which the forest has always been the background, almost always focused on the contrast of a bright, safe, muffled world of the village and the dark and insidious one of the forest, a typically medieval antithesis. We wanted a fairy tale typical of the Grimm brothers storytelling.
Our goal was to make nature the main theme. From the faiths kept inside a bird’s nest, to the inspiration of the green clothes, for the 5 bridesmaids. We wrote on a paper a series of words related to what we wanted to experience, perceive and transmit to others that day: softness, delicacy, serenity, magic, mysticism, transformation, metamorphosis, melancholy, fantasy, naturalness, harmony, perfection, omnipotence, love.

Writing a letter with all our vows was the most important for both of us and the most difficult at the same time. Thanks to the officiant we were able to do it. Telling us those precious words in front of all the people we love was so scary and important, as well.

The ritual was dedicated to the elements of nature; the release of the butterflies, their flight was connected to the air element. The creation of a single flame through two candles evoked the fire element. Then we planted a succulent mixing the lands of our places of origin to represent the earth element. To represent the water element, we got our hands wet stroking the leaves of the plant. Wet the hands stroking the leaves of the plant. And finally, the fifth element from which all the other elements originate, the element of the spirit, was represented through the Celtic ritual of the ribbons.

My favorite photo is of the kiss at the end of the ceremony because it reminds me of the final scene of each fairy tale. When the protagonists walk away in a carriage, kissing, with the phrase “and they lived happily ever after” From the lights, the framing and the crown of flowers that frames us in the background really do seem magical to me.

We personally think that the most important choice to make when planning a wedding is the photographer: the one who will provide you with memories you can relive forever, all those tiny but precious moments.

We gave some seedlings placed inside a biodegradable coconut fiber jar. Inviting guests to nurture and grow the donated plant in a larger area.

The chosen color that dominated the whole was dark green. With touches of white and gold details. Green: Color of the nature of the woods, a symbol of life, luck, and hopes. It represents solidity, green is the stem that holds the flower.

Heartfelt Malibu Wedding at the Historic Adamson House

January 16, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Taneal and Andrew’s magical and heartfelt wedding was a union of not only their love—preciously overlooked by their pup of honor, Axl—but of their two families. Taneal’s midwest American family and Andrew’s UK family congregated at Adamson House, located directly on the picturesque coast of Malibu. The couple’s ceremony was especially sentimental, as Taneal walked down the isle to “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid; the song the two sang together at karaoke the night they met! We can’t wait for you to see this bride’s not one, not two, but three absolutely show-stopping gowns. Cue: Total Beyonce moment in her sparkling Chosen by One Day number! Get to scrolling for all of this goodness, and even more, captured by the oh-so-talented Alexandra Wallace.

Everyone talks about what the bride wears BUT I have to say my husband turned just as many heads as I did! He wore a green velvet dinner jacket that was incredible.

Of the Flowers set the stage for our dreamy Malibu wedding at Adamson House, and Felisa was so sweet to work with.

We wanted our wedding to feel like our guests could share in our story and become part of it. It started with me walking down the aisle to Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid, our karaoke song from the first night we met and our friend officiated by telling the story of how we found each other when he was living in London and I was in LA. From there, the night just melted into a dream of cozy Malibu sea air and lots of tequila and dancing!

Wedding planning advice from the couple: Go for it! We had an idea of what we wanted and our budget never matched it. We decided what our non negotiables were and we were fine with spending more on these items. Then we skimmed on other items that weren’t as important to us. Will anyone really remember your chairs, napkins and plates? In the end, we got everything we wanted and were happy we went over budget. It’s worth it!

The biggest surprise for everyone else was changing into my second dress. I had shared photos of my ceremony dress with almost everyone before the wedding so I needed to add a little drama to my wedding day style by coming out in the most amazing dress from Chosen by One Day. He had his Bond moment in a green velvet DJ and I had my Beyoncé moment in that dress!

The music was amazing! Our ceremony and cocktail reception were perfectly serenaded by Katie Ferrara and DJ Tessa captured our vibe in song and set the mood from dinner to dancing!

This London Wedding at The Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings is Giving Us Major Greenhouse Vibes

January 15, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Laura and Andy set out to create a wedding that felt natural and timeless. And, some cheers are in order, because we’ve seen greenhouse vibes before, but never quite as elegant and vintage-esque as their day at The Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings in London! There are five words you should know about their reception dinner space: pastel, banana leaf printed chairs. We never knew we could feel such a love for a reception chair! If that’s not enough, just wait until you see the detail on Laura’s Made with Love Bridal gown and how stunning her ‘maids looked dressed in silk, champagne colored slip dresses. Prepare your hearts, babes, because Natalie Pluck captured every moment of this sweet day with total perfection!

We wanted to try and create a wedding which felt quite timeless, so wanted to try and incorporate that into my look on the day. Because of this, I knew I would want a dress which had slight vintage feel, but at the same time I didn’t want to feel like I was in fancy dress! I loved the scalloped design in the lace of my dress, which had a slight nod to the 1920s but the cut and shape still felt very modern.
For the rest of my look I wanted to keep it feeling quite relaxed. I never wear my hair up day to day, so felt it was important to feel myself on the day, so went with loose, big waves. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to wear a veil, and was debating it pretty much up to the day! In the end I decided to go with wearing a pair of statement, chandelier earrings and not wear anything in my hair.

Natalie Pluck, our photographer, was amazing. Not only did she manage to capture the feeling and emotions on the day with some beautiful shots, she was also just such a pleasure to have there on the day. She was so lovely, helping me with my dress when none of my other bridesmaids could figure out the train, to keeping me calm in the car on the way to the venue. Her calm and warm personality put me and Andy completely at ease throughout the day.

The most memorable part of the day was walking out of the town hall right after our ceremony and having our confetti throw as we walked down the iconic steps of the Old Marylebone Town Hall. Walking out of the ceremony, just married, seeing all the faces of everyone we loved, gave us the most overwhelming sense of happiness and excitement.

With the bridesmaids we decided everyone would wear different dresses, providing they tied into the colour palette of very muted pastels and neutrals. We thought this would be easier than trying to find a dress which would suit everyone’s body type, however trying to find five individual dresses which everyone likes but also works together probably ended up being more difficult! It was also very difficult to co-ordinate as most of the bridesmaids live in different parts of the country, so we hadn’t actually been able to have all the bridesmaids in one location trying the dresses on altogether, so it was a bit of a risk but it totally paid off on the day.

Wedding planning advice from the couple: Everyone will tell you before the big day how quickly it goes, and it really is so true! We also didn’t appreciate how much of the day you spend apart, trying to greet and mingle with as many guests as possible. We were really lucky our venue provided a private room which we used to just pause and catch up just the two of us, a couple of times throughout the day. Taking just a small amount of time out, just the two of you, makes you take a step back and take everything in. It’s the most special, amazing day, which will pass by in a flash, so try and squeeze in some time to appreciate the moment.

We instantly fell in love with The Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings. We went to view it on a beautiful summers evening, and was blown away by the bright, airy space filled with character. It has a really elegant, understated glamour, filled with chic antique furniture and the most amazing conservatory full of beautiful greenery. It’s all the little details of the venue which also makes it so special, from its stunning vintage ceiling fans, to mis-matched chairs and huge vintage mural, it just encapsulated the kind of timelessness we wanted to try and achieve for the look and feel of the day.

We were lucky our best man co-owns a gin bar and small-batch distillery in London called Jim and Tonic. He very kindly offered to bottle up miniatures of their Parfum Gin, which is made using lavender and bergamot oils to create a really distinctive and aromatic gin, for our favours. We then asked Andy‘s dad to create a watercolour painting of our venue for the label. It was one of my favourite details on the day, as it felt like it was something very personal to us.

We wanted to ensure guests felt relaxed and had fun! Particularly when the party started, we wanted guests to really feel they could let their hair down. We chose our band as we’d seen them at a friend’s wedding last year and loved how much energy they had, we knew our guests would love them. They were really interactive with the crowd, singing and dancing with guests, which I think really helped get the party started!
