Classic Tropical Destination Wedding in Costa Rica

October 9, 2020 | riley

Kara and Kevin wanted to embrace the beauty of Costa Rica in their tropical destination wedding. Boy, did they nail it! With the help of Junebug member and planner Mil Besos Costa Rica, the couple opted for a simple vibe with touches of boho accents to not interfere with Costa Rica’s natural charm.

They opted for a simple light pink color palette with small pops of orange, bouquets of tropical florals put together by Flores de Campo, and a reception complete with twinkle lights and bamboo seating. We’re so thankful photographer and Junebug member White Diamond was there to capture the essence of the day. Keep scrolling to see the epitome of a timeless wedding.

Kara and Kevin

The Wedding:

Andaz Papagayo, Papagayo Peninsula, Costa Rica

Simple Tropical Wedding Vibes

I wanted to go for a beachy, classy, boho vibe. It was so beautiful. The ceremony was simple with just a circular, tropical, floral arrangement as the centerpiece. The tall trees and architecture of Andaz complimented the simplicity of it. The reception was everything I wanted and more. It was at the Andaz Beach House, so the guests were able to enjoy the low trees right by the water. It was lit with twinkling lights throughout the beach house with just the perfect type of boho decor.

A Tubular Guest Book

My husband is a surfer, so we got a custom-built surfboard for people to sign as our guestbook for our reception.

A Rainy Reception

The best part of the day was when it started to rain during the reception. We had 90’s R&B love songs playing, and there was a moment where my husband and I walked away to overlook everyone. It started to rain, but we noticed everyone stayed out on the dance floor. We joined them for the best rainfall of our lives.

This European Fall Wedding Blends Boho and Feminine Styles

October 9, 2020 | riley

What do you get when you have a photographer as a bride? Utter perfection. Liga and Eric’s European fall wedding was the perfect showcase of whimsical, cozy, and autumnal–perfect for these coming fall months. With the help of planner Svetlana Masala, the nuptials were complete with dusty pink and orange florals, pumpkin accents, and drapery galore.

Eric’s rose-colored tux paired perfectly with Liga’s romantic polka-dotted Inta Grase a-line gown. And we can’t help but swoon over the perfectly fall chunky cardigan that the bride added for their beach portraits. Miks Sels Photography did a brilliant job capturing the dreamy day, so keep scrolling to swoon with us.

Wedding Advice From the Bride

Take your time, don’t rush wedding planning, and enjoy being engaged! I highly recommend only doing things that you are both truly passionate and excited about. For example, don’t do the first dance if you don’t enjoy dancing. And, try on as many dresses as you can!

Working With Miks Sels

As a photographer myself–before the wedding–I thought I knew how to pose, smile, etc., in front of the camera, because I ask clients to do it all the time. But, on the wedding day, I just could not move, think, or breathe normally. I was so excited, stressed, and overwhelmed. I forgot everything that I know about posing. Thankfully, Miks Sels handled the situation perfectly and calmed me down. The pictures turned out great!

Sweet Wedding Favors

We gifted our guests’ little jars of honey since our overall theme was honey and autumn. We had honeycake–one of the national cakes of Latvia–and tea with honey.

Culturally and Colorfully Vibrant Indian-Mexican Fusion Wedding at Hacienda Uayamon

October 8, 2020 | riley

Incredible wedding day fashion–we’re talking three different outfit changes—a jaw-dropping colorful Hindu ceremony, and a Day of the Dead themed reception. We’re a little bit obsessed with Juan Pablo and Manhar’s Indian-Mexican fusion wedding at Hacienda Uayamon. The couple hired planner Adda Solis–who studied Indian weddings just for the pair–to help their multicultural dreams come true.

The grooms looked dashing in their Sabyasachi and Tarun Tahiliani outfits, which matched the bright red, pink, and blue Hindu ceremony. Not to mention the colored smoke bomb portraits that Junebug member Carlos Elizondo captured oh-so-perfectly.

This is truly one of the most imaginative weddings we have ever seen. Keep scrolling to see intricate Papel Picado banners, traditional Indian dancers, and Mexican-inspired face paint.

A Multicultural Weekend at Hacienda Uayamon

We wanted our wedding to be a multicultural experience (we are a Mexican-Hindu couple), not just one day. A weekend full of celebrations in which our cultural roots were present in a very significant way, full of colors and emotions.

Why Finding The Right Wedding Planner Is Important

The most important thing for us was finding the right wedding planner. We both live in Asia, and planning a wedding in Mexico without the right help would have been impossible. When we met Adda, we knew we were in good hands. She stood there with us even in my worst bridezilla moments. She was passionate, creative, and a fast learner. It was her first Indian wedding and she got certified on Indian weddings so that she could bring more ideas to the table. Her team is outstanding and our wedding was such a success because of her. Our one piece of advice is to find the right wedding planner–the one that gives you peace and comfort.

A Day of The Dead Inspired Reception

We decided to incorporate elements from one of the most well-known traditions of Mexican culture–the Day of the Dead. The reception was full of those iconic elements–centerpieces with marigold flowers, Mexican sweets, confetti, and skulls adorned the magical night. We even hired a makeup artist to paint our guests’ faces like “Catrinas,” kind of like the “Coco” movie.
