Colorful Casual Florida Wedding at Home

October 24, 2020 | riley

Lindsay and Garland made laid-back look oh-so-cool in their Florida backyard wedding. With the help of planner Southern Romance Events, the couple turned Lindsay’s parents’ property into a colorfully casual oasis filled with lush greenery, wild floral arrangements from ABC Event Planning, and an Engine 53 Pizza food truck.

The Portos were the perfect photographers to capture the free-spirited vibes of the day. Keep scrolling to see every detail they captured–including silly bridal party photos, a reception party complete with cigars, and a late-night jump in the pool.

Lindsay and Garland

The Wedding:

Bradenton, Florida

Laid-Back Wedding Vibes

We had an idea of what we wanted functionally, but Lindsay really took over the details department. We wanted something intimate–where we could leave the day and feel like we actually got to soak in everything. The ceremony and reception were both outside, so we really leaned on the natural vibe and minimal decorations. Mix and matched rugs were rolled out for the ceremony space, which transitioned into a “dance floor,” and guests got to walk around and find little pockets in the trees and bamboo to sit and chat, etc. It was easy going.

Why a Casual Florida Wedding

Initially, we had booked a different venue which was lovely. But once we started planning, it just didn’t feel right. Lindsay’s parents have an amazing property she grew up on, and after we started picturing our wedding there we never looked back. It was a comforting space for us and required very little decoration because of all the natural charm and beauty.

A Pizza Party

We both (especially Lindsay) love pizza–who doesn’t? We knew we wanted a food truck, so we started doing research and taste-testing the pizzas we were sold. Everyone got to go up and order their own freshly prepared ‘za, cooked in a coal fire oven in a converted fire truck. Overall it was very relaxed and fun.

A Memorable Swim

The whole day was amazing–from reading our vows we wrote together, to a big dance party under the stars. It’s difficult to narrow down what was most memorable. But a highlight for us was jumping into the pool together at the very end of the night–including our wedding party and 3 sons. Even our moms got in!

This Schwabacher Landing Wedding is an Outdoor Dinner Party Dream

October 23, 2020 | riley

A disco-inspired countryside wedding?! Don’t mind if we do! Liz and Jamie’s Schwabacher Landing wedding was the perfect combination of retro, rustic, and elegant. Who knew a combo could work so well? Liz looked stunning in her vintage-inspired Pronovias gown while Jamie looked suave in his maroon suit and bolo tie.

The reception was filled with sweeping views of Wyoming’s mountains and minimal decor, while their reception at Bentwood Inn was complete with a “tent” of twinkle lights, florals from Flower by Chloe, blue tie-dyed linens, and antlers. Talk about natural glamour–we’re totally here for it.

Photographer Liz Osban perfectly captured the fusion of styles, so keep scrolling and get those Pinterest boards ready, Junebabes, because this is one you will not want to forget.

Modern Classic Wedding at The College Hotel in Amsterdam

October 23, 2020 | riley

Bailee and Alex wanted a destination wedding in a place where their close family and friends could explore with them.  They chose Amsterdam–and it was stunning! After accidentally stumbling on The College Hotel while touring multiple venues they didn’t love, they knew it was the perfect place to host their dream day. With the help of expert planner In Style Wedding Management, they pulled off a classic affair complete with avant-garde touches, chic white and gold decor, and a wedding cake–from Lindenhoff Cheeses–made entirely of Dutch cheeses.

If you’re dreaming of a European wedding, keep scrolling to see the gorgeous details that Nicole Aston Photography beautifully captured–from the moody first look to a photoshoot on the canal to a sparkler exit featuring an epic outfit change.

The Couple:

Bailee and Alex

The Wedding:

The College Hotel, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Why The College Hotel

We found our venue on accident! We were set on the idea of not getting married at a hotel and stumbled into The College Hotel for an afternoon drink after viewing ten venues we didn’t love. The moment we walked into The College, we knew. Take our advice and don’t rule anything out and don’t discount something straight away—try it once because it might surprise you!

Destination Wedding Vibes

The vibe of our wedding was, in essence, worlds colliding. A major theme in our lives has been bringing our individual groups of friends and family together to form one large support system, and we wanted this to be a feeling and emotion that carried us through the weekend. Additionally, I’m from Ohio, Alex is from Massachusetts, we live in Texas, and chose to get married in The Netherlands–it was quite literally worlds colliding. The style/design of the wedding was meant to complement and not overshadow the beauty of The College Hotel–a historic hotel in the Museumplein district of Amsterdam.

A Musical Surprise

One of the most unique and memorable moments of our ceremony was when Alex actually performed for—and with—our guests right before I walked down the aisle with my bridesmaids. Alex is a very talented musician and chose to sing “Crazy Love” (while also playing the piano!) with his Uncle Ben and my father, Pat. The song ended in a sing-along with all the wedding guests.

A Non-Traditional Wedding Cake

We offered three meal options, meat, fish, and vegetarian. Each option was unique–an appetizer and entree that was unique to each selection. The food was unbelievable. The guests even shared they didn’t realize wedding food could be that good! We also didn’t do a traditional cake but instead did a cake made of Dutch cheeses for the reception and a table of assorted sweets and desserts for after dinner!
