Relaxed New York Garden Wedding at M & D Farm

May 17, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Maggie and Kevin’s relaxed New York garden wedding at M&D Farm makes us believe there’s nothing better than intimate, simple backyard vibes with your closest people! We love how this sweet couple chose to keep the focus on the stunning venue by keeping their decor minimal and timeless. The touches of color were perfectly places in the beautiful arrangements Native Farm Flowers put together for their day. If you love romantic couples portraits, fun candids, and everything in between, you’re sure to swoon over the images Nicole Nero Studio documented from this adorable day at M & D Farm!

The Couple:

Maggie & Kevin

The Wedding:

M&D Farm, Westerlo, NY

I wanted my look to be classic and romantic. I had always loved lace dresses and when I saw the dress online, I knew it was the one. My makeup was natural and had my hair in soft romantic curls and added some babys breath to match the gardens of the venue. I wore blush colored shoes to match my bridal party.

Nicole Nero is one of the sweetest people we have ever met. She made sure we had enough alone time to take photos together and the pictures came out amazing. She took photos so quickly that we did not even know she was there. She took the best candids.

Our vision was a relaxed, garden wedding that made all our guests feel like they were in our backyard. M & D Farm is surrounded by a lush bucolic estate, covered in market lights with a Mediterranean feel. We wanted the wedding to have a Tuscany vibe but didn’t want to burden friends and family so this was the perfect place for us.

Make sure you have a day of event coordinator! It’s easy to get bogged down in the details during your big day, and you’ll want to stay as relaxed as possible on your wedding day.

We did not want to take away from the beauty of the venue so kept everything muted. The bridesmaids wore different shades of blush with my maid of honor in a floral dress. The flowers were handpicked from the garden of our florist, Native Farm Flowers. The flowers were mostly shades of blush with a pop of yellow.

We wanted to make sure the wedding felt like ‘us’. We wanted it to be a fun celebration, rather than a formal occasion. It all started with the perfect venue and everything came together from there. We prioritized the food and music, so we did a lot of research to find the best. I am an event director in NYC and plan many events for others so wanted to be as involved as possible in the process for my big day.

Our caterer, Lily and the Rose is a farm-to-table gourmet catering company so all the food was organic and picked from gardens in upstate New York. To go with the casual backyard vibes, we had a beautiful Charcuterie Station with local cheese and fruit. For the main meal, our guests enjoyed steak with chimichurri sauce and mac and cheese. For dessert, we had a simple wedding cake decorated with flowers along with a fruit platter, cream puffs, brownies. To end the night, we had late night ‘Maggie Cheeseburgers’, the brides favorite food!

All the vendors were absolutely amazing. Mario and Daniel, the owners of M & D Farm were a dream come true. They answered any questions I had, helped me pick out my vendors. They truly feel like family. The photographer Nicole Nero not only takes the best photos we have ever seen, but is as sweetheart and so great to work with. Our caterer, Lily and the Rose made sure the food matched the vibe of the wedding. Alex and Kate from Bridal by Alexandria made the bride and the bridal party look absolutely beautiful while making us feel so comfortable and relaxed while we were getting ready. Barbara from Native Farm Flowers handpicked each bouquet and table setting from her garden upstate. She even brought babys breath to my hotel (which is out of the way of the venue) to make sure they were fresh for the bride’s hair. Last but not least, the band ‘East Side Stories’ were amazing. Our contacts were so easy to work with, nothing was too much of an ask and were happy to learn new songs that meant a lot to the bride and groom. The dance floor was packed the whole night.

This Private Santorini Cliffside Elopement is Pure Magic

May 16, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Give us a golden Greece sunset and lovely couple, and we’re smiling ear-to-ear! We couldn’t be more in love with Katie and James’ private Santorini cliffside elopement. Laurene and The Wolf beautifully captured Katie and James’ special weeding with honesty — capturing the two snuggled up at their villa, saying their “I do’s” before a breathtaking view, and dining under the stars! We are obsessed with the styling Julia and Evita created, which was the perfect mix of boho and simplicity. Bride tip: Katie purchased a Rue de Seine gown and had Sewing Room Adelaide make adjustments to create something uniquely her. We’re swooning! If you love everything about destination elopements and sweet moments, you’re going to adore this day.

The Couple:

Katie & James

The Wedding:

Oia, Santorini

When contemplating if we were to get married in Australia or elope overseas, it was easy to be swept up in the opinion of others. When we refocused on what our priorities were and how we wanted to begin our marriage, we found our answer. Elopements certainly aren’t for everyone, but we couldn’t have been happier with our decision. Our plan gave us the best of both worlds, an intimate ceremony that was better than we could have imagined and a surprise reception with our friends and family, unveiling our video and images ensuring we included those that love us in starting this next chapter. A wedding no longer needs to follow tradition, just do what feels right for you as a couple.

More than anything we wanted our wedding day to feel authentic to who we are, this being what lead us to elope. Along with capturing our love for each other, we wanted to show the beauty of Santorini as seeing the world has been such a large part of our relationship so we chose to have the caldera be the backdrop for our intimate ceremony. With an element of bohemian, neutral styling Julia & Evita really understood my brief on having design elements but keeping it simple and Laurene & the Wolf captured everything we expressed to them was a priority – our love, our laughter and the beauty of Santorini. We couldn’t have been happier with how our day came together.

From the moment it began we both felt as though the rest of the world melted away. With only us on the cliffside, committing our love to one another we couldn’t have been smiling any brighter.. with a few happy tears. Every second of our day was memorable and although cliche, felt like a dream, however as the sun was setting on the day we took in every second of our ceremony and were wholeheartedly present at that moment. It was nothing short of perfect.

We chose the Santorini cliffside elopement location for the natural setting and the unbeatable views. We had a couple of last-minute changes that could have seen this be a completely different outcome, but we are so thankful that we ended up with our dream location.

Wedding planning advice from the couple: Find your non-negotiables. For us, it was photography/videography, destination, a well-reviewed wedding planner & sticking to a budget. Instagram was our source of searching for creatives – particularly photography/videography as we felt it gave a realtime type of search function compared to trawling google and reviews. In the same respect, our wedding planners Instagram and socials left no doubt that we were in safe hands, but a friend of a friend also recommended their services. In regards to Santorini, we had been to the island a couple of times prior so we knew it fitted our brief, but with the stress around planning a wedding abroad, we wouldn’t recommend picking a location you aren’t familiar with as there are many elements to consider. With our budget, we were slightly lenient on the non-negotiables but opted to minimize costs on other things that weren’t our priorities. Lastly but importantly, be comfortable with your vendors, especially if they are overseas. We had contact with various people before booking Laurene & the Wolf and Julia & Evita but as soon as we made contact with them and felt their care and willingness to be flexible with our requests, we knew we had found our team.

My wedding dress was a combination of a beautiful New Zealand designer, a dressmaker from my home city of Adelaide and a vision of mine. I am always a bit tentative in white so I wanted to ensure I was comfortable. I fell in love with the Rue De Seine blouse directly after becoming engaged and after trying multiple other dresses I would just keep coming back to it. With encouragement from a close friend, I set out on the journey of creating my dream dress. A simple fitted dress, incorporating the detailed bohemian style bell sleeve blouse. I still love it just as much to this day.

Laurene and Kevin were relaxed and easy-going, which was the perfect fit for us. It was like spending time with new friends. We had 3 days with them during our time in Santorini and it was a really comfortable experience. They had the perfect creative vision and we absolutely loved the end result, but they also encouraged our suggestions. They certainly were professionals and we loved their choice of locations more than those we thought we wanted to capture.

Tropical Boho Acre Baja Wedding in Neutral Tones

Marlana and Dean’s boho Acre Baja wedding had everything we love about tropical destination weddings: killer style, neutral tones, and all the good vibes! This couple brought an extra punch to the day with their wedding attire. We’re obsessed with Marlana’s choice to add rhinestone bobby pins to her bridal hairstyle, and her groom looked perfect in his tan linen suit that’s oh-so-perfect for any tropical climate. Just want until you see the lovely decor Cabo Wedding Services put together for this reception, and so much more! We love how photographer Madeline Shea Photography captured their day in a stylish, yet timeless way. So, get your “Pin” button ready — because these photos will leave you swooning!

I wanted a very classic look for ceremony. I had a semi lace mermaid dress with a gorgeous train by Enzoani. I did 4 large rhinestone bobby-pins as an “ear cuff” kinda look on my left side for a little jazz! Then for reception I wore a silk slip dress with a high slit and fringe on the bottom for the dance party! It was Willowby by Watters- Keegan gown. It was basically backless and stunning and went with the vibe of our venue and the night! My husband wore a sand linen suit custom by Suave Bespoke in Australia. Literally the most gorgeous material and cut…he looked unreal! And our wedding party was able to pick whatever they felt! Everyone brought their own style to the big day and it was perfect!

Wedding planning can be a lot to deal with… we were in the planning stage for almost a year and a half. That being said, I do not recommend giving yourself that much time!! It weighs on you and never leaves your mind so I would limit the planning process to 6-9 months at most! Do it and enjoy the process but also don’t let it consume you!

Working with Madeline Shea was A DREAM. She was the sweetest person and felt like family out the gate. She just got us. So glad we had her!

I absolutely love neutrals, trees, and wildlife. This venue could not have been better. Tree houses in what felt like the jungle. The most vibrant greenery and gorgeous peacocks rooming free. Natural woods and metals with cement and gorgeous tiles. The style was so me already that it wasn’t hard to play up what the venue already possessed. Candle light and pampas grass was all we really needed to add! My dreams came true!

I have to shout out our wedding planner, Jessica Wolff, at Cabo Wedding Services. She was literally everything to us and already knew all the vendors so, just listened to what I wanted and made it ALL happen. All of the vendors were a amazing- let it bloom, warehouse rentals, and let it be events.

The food at our venue was unreal! We had fried green tomatoes, cheddar biscuits, and farm salad as our first course. Second was, braised beef, snapper, and cauliflower 3 ways. Followed up by an abundance of churros! And with our crew we knew we’d need some delightful late night bites such as Mac n cheese balls and pork belly steamed buns to close it out!
