Chinoiserie Wedding Inspiration from the Big Fake Wedding

October 19, 2020 | riley

There’s always something special about events put on by The Big Fake Wedding team. This BFW Dallas event is no exception. Their inspiration for this event was Chinoiserie Garden design, which represents European interpretations of Chinese styles. The colorful pastels, velvet, and gold used throughout the event bring the trees, birds, and flowers found in this style to life. It’s as if they bloomed from a garden and walked through the door to be part of this incredible Chinoiserie wedding inspiration shoot!

So, how exactly does Chinoiserie art translate into a wedding style? How did the Big Fake Wedding pull it off? Keep scrolling to find out through the photos expertly captured by Catie Ann Photography, Bailee Starr Photography, and Kendall Nicole Studios.

45 Gorgeous Winter Wedding Guest Dresses for 2020

October 19, 2020 | riley

With temperatures dropping quickly as winter approaches, finding the perfect wedding guest dresses to keep you warm while you celebrate is crucial. From velvet and sequins to seasonal florals and flattering wrap styles, there’s a dress for every venue, style, and body. Just because it’s getting colder doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style this wedding season. Add a pair of cute boots and a cozy jacket to your wedding guest look and get ready to sip champagne and dance all night long!

Short Winter Wedding Guest Dresses

For some, wearing a short dress in the middle of the winter might sound dreadful. However, if you’re in warmer climates such as the American southwest, then you know how mild winters can be. No one wants to be in a thick dress if it’s 70 degrees out!

If you’re attending weddings in cold climates, there’s a very good chance that the wedding won’t be outdoors, either. Pair these dresses with a jacket or fur and tights for the short amount of time that you’ll be outside and then ditch the coat once you hit the dance floor.

Long Winter Wedding Guest Dresses

If you know that you’re going to be spending most of your time outside during a winter wedding, you might want to opt for a long wedding dress. Most of these dresses are not only long in length, but they also have long sleeves which will keep you feeling extra cozy. They’re also the ideal option if you’re looking to wear lower heels or flats since you won’t be able to see your feet.

Fall Utah Mountain Wedding at Log Haven

October 19, 2020 | riley

We’re living for autumn outdoor weddings now that temperatures are cooling down, and Sarah and Noah’s fall mountain wedding at Log Haven did not disappoint. The couple wanted nothing more than to create a cozy atmosphere where their guests could enjoy their favorite part of Utah. The outdoor ceremony featured sweeping mountain and forest views, a warm burgundy and navy color palette, and an over-the-top bridal bouquet put together by Living Creations. Oh, and a ring mishap that made for some pretty great photos.

The reception was complete with a romantic first dance under fairy lights, a minimalistic yet rustic cake from Cravings Alisha’s Cupcakes, and a whole lot of shots. That’s right—these two kept the party going all night long.

We’re totally in love with every autumnal aspect of this intimate affair, and we’re so glad that Junebug member Tressa Wixom Photography captured every well-thought-out detail.

The Couple:

Sarah and Noah

The Wedding:

Log Haven, Salt Lake City, Utah

Why Log Haven

When planning our wedding, we quickly got set on having a fall wedding up in the mountains. We found the perfect setting at Log Haven in September. We wanted our guests from out of state to really be able to experience our favorite part of Utah–the beautiful mountains! So we were really inspired by the mountains and nature.

A Ring Mishap

During the middle of the ceremony, my sister (maid of honor) dropped Noah’s ring in the grass. Our officiant stopped the ceremony for a couple of minutes while all my bridesmaids helped her find it. It was found, but all we could do was laugh during this unexpected part of our ceremony. The pictures of this still make me laugh–seeing my bridesmaids on the ground looking for the ring.

Wedding Advice From The Bride

I’d say planning early and giving yourself enough time to plan relieves a lot of stress. We got engaged in September 2018 and married in September 2019. Having a full year of planning was great for us. Planning a few things at a time helped us not feel so overwhelmed. The first thing we planned was our venue. I’d say that’s the best first plan to make, and getting that set with your date will be so helpful. You’ll feel like you’ve accomplished so much from just that!
