Floral Inspired Wedding at Pharsalia in Virginia

May 24, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Floral-Inspired-Wedding-at-Pharsalia-in-Virginia (10 of 32)

Sweet apple orchards, lush, richly colored florals, and sparklers all came together to create Renee and Logan’s dreamy wedding. The bride wore a mesmerizing textured gown that had been woven with gold thread. All aspects of this whimsical wedding were rich in detail and pigment. We’re so happy Chelsea Diane Photography was there to expertly capture all the beautiful moments!

The Couple:

Renee and Logan

The Wedding:

Pharsalia, Tyro, Virginia

The Inspiration:

I drew inspiration from pre-Raphaelite paintings, which to me celebrate feminine beauty in a wild, natural, honest way. There’s a lot in the way of flowers (flower crowns and lush floral landscapes) — in no particular arrangement. That informed a lot of my choices — from table arrangements to the wedding dress. That combination of sprightly, bright florals and dark, lush textures; so dreamy. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but my dress is actually woven with gold thread, it’s not a traditional white. The space we chose was a garden, full of fresh flowers and uniquely arranged garden vignettes. It didn’t require much tweaking or fussing about; we could let some places be arranged and others loose and carefree. Choosing to have the wedding in the Fall allowed us more room to weave darker details into the garden setting.

The Moments:

Right after we walked back down the aisle and got pelted with lavender, we snuck off to a nook right outside of the main house and hid behind a thicket of tall bushes to breath everything in, touch each others rings, and be together before we went back out into the social scene. There was just the sound of birds and people talking far off in the distance, but the world was ours right then. It was a moment just for us.

The Couple Recommends:

My wedding planner and florist — who is also a friend who happens to work in the wedding industry — was our saving grace. She did an incredible job making our florals out of 95% locally grown and foraged flowers and greenery. They were absolutely stunning. And our caterer went above and beyond with making our food delicious and creative — our menu was pescatarian and gluten free. It should also be mentioned that our cake designer makes the BEST gluten free cakes. Ours was coconut with homemade lemon curd. And she even made it dairy free for us! It was magnificent.

Enchanting Elopement at Whytecliff Park

May 23, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Enchanting-Elopement-at-Whytecliff-Park (23 of 29)

Candice and Paul envisioned a simple and scenic wedding day, and what better place to have a breathtaking elopement than at a park in Vancouver? Whytecliff Park, full of refreshing views, wildlife, and unique natural plants, was perfectly secluded enough for the couple to exchange personally written vows. Having only two friends accompany as witnesses, the couple shared intimate, unforgettable moments, which Simply Rose Photography captured in breathtaking photos!

The Couple:

Candice and Paul

The Wedding:

Whytecliff Park, Vancouver, British Columbia

The Inspiration:

SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE and CHEAP! We wanted to do a trip out west and to keep the wedding about Paul and I. We were very selfish and made the day all about us. We wrote our own vows and only invited our witnesses (Paul‘s friend Jesse and my friend Melissa who both live in Vancouver). We chose the park because it was beautiful and the restaurant because they were incredibly accommodating of some special dietary needs. We really just wanted to be in a beautiful scenic location somewhere in Canada and what better place than Vancouver! We booked a reso, photographer and wedding commissioner and made sure our witnesses could come. I did some wedding prep (dress, shoes, jewelry and headband) with my mom and sisters to include them in my special day.

The Couple Recommends:

Poag’s was amazing as they refinished my Gramma’s wedding ring so it looked as good as new and they were so helpful picking out Paul‘s wedding band.Rose was amazing, considering the wedding was so far away Rose was a great mediator with not only photography help but flowers (whats in season where to go, etc) and location as she knows Vancouver and surrounding area SO WELL. Granville Island flowers (GIF) did an incredible job. Finally, Hawksworth and the Rosewood Georgia Hotel made our day just incredible with their service and attention to detail. They allowed me early check in to get ready for the big day and gave us an incredible Deluxe room overlooking the Vancouver Art Museum. It really made our amazing day that much better to have a nice place to celebrate.

Low-Key Guatemala Wedding at Earth Lodge

May 23, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Low-Key-Guatemala-Wedding-at-Earth-Lodge (23 of 26)

Breathtaking views, ancient ruins, and colorful wild flowers all came together to create Caitlin and Jason’s natural Guatemala wedding. The Earth Lodge offered a romantic getaway high above sea level, which was the perfect place for Caitlin and Jason to say “I do.” After a sweet, intimate ceremony, the couple spent memorable moments among ancient ruins, where amazing photographer Daniel Lopez Perez captured incredible photos!

The Couple:

Caitlin and Jason

The Wedding:

Earth Lodge, Antigua, Guatemala

The Inspiration:

We chose to have our wedding at Earth Lodge because of the beautiful views, treehouse accommodations and friendly staff. Caitlin hates planning things so we kept things simple. We used flowers from the local market to make an altar and let the beautiful surroundings speak for themselves.

The Moments:

I don’t think we could pick one moment. Our favorite part was spending 3 days with our family and friends at one of our favorite places in the world. We loved being able to relax and get to spend time with everyone, rather than rush through a chaotic wedding.

The Couple Recommends:

Everyone was amazing! Our photographers, Daniel Lopez Perez and Melissa Ballarin were amazing as well, as the pictures clearly show. They showed up early and stayed late to make sure they captured all of the great moments of the wedding night. They worked very hard to accommodate us and made the long trip back to Antigua so that we could do a private session in the ruins of La Recoleccion. Everyone at Earth Lodge helped out to make it a wonderful weekend, and the owners Briana and Drew made our everyone’s stay very special. Maf and Jueves provided perfect musical accompaniment, and even came back for an extra night! Thanks most of all to all of our family and friends for making the trip, we couldn’t have done it without you!
