Riding bikes and horses in the sunset has never been so romantic as in Shuyann and Dean’s Perth engagement session. LiFe Photography captured the dreamy glow of the setting sun and the delightful moments the couple shared as they giggled and embraced. Shuyann and Dean’s wild spirits are so evident in every one of these swoon-worthy images!

From the photographer: Shuyann and Dean met at a rooftop bar in Perth in the Summer of 2012, and a year later fell for each other at a friend’s wedding. Now planning their own, they took me out to their friend’s beautiful farm full of long grass, horses and stunning Australian light.

I’m so thankful for their adventurous spirits and the obvious love they have for each other, given away by the tiny touches of affection and the smiles that testify to incredible admiration and respect for one another.

It was definitely one of the funnest Beloved Session’s I’ve ever done – though the images allude to great skill, behind the scenes featured Dean’s somewhat uncoordinated moves, which led to hilarious moments as they rode on bikes and horses under the fading sun. It was relaxed and fun, running wild in that golden sunset with them.

This St. Lucia Elopement Brilliantly Mixes Luxury and Minimalism

January 6, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

St. Lucia elopement

St. Lucia is one of the most magnificent destinations in the world, so it’s no wonder and Tracy and John decided to escape to the island to say “I do.” Their St. Lucia elopement at Jade Mountain was designed to highlight the contrast between the organic nature of Soufriere and beautifully luxe wedding details. Photographer Matt Lien captured the effortlessness of the day, including the couple’s intimate vow exchange inside 18th century remains of a nearby plantation and their sunset dinner on the shore.

The Couple:

Tracy and John

The Wedding:

While we eventually had a more traditional wedding stateside, we decided to elope to celebrate our love in a more intimate setting. I love contrasts and wanted something beautiful, luxurious, but at the same time simple and rustic. Jade Mountain and the surrounding town of Soufriere certainly fit my vision. And no wedding would be complete without an amazing photographer to capture all our moments. We were so fortunate to find Matt Lien and that he had these few days free in an otherwise packed year. As they say, the stars aligned.

As I mentioned above, I love contrasts and wanted something beautiful, luxurious, but at the same time simple and rustic. Jade Mountain and the surrounding town of Soufriere fit my vision. We were able to enjoy the luxuries of a private in-room infinity pool, butler, insane architecture and James Beard restaurant (we love good food!), but at the same time our room had a natural vibe as it was open to the elements (no air conditioning, plenty of birds). And in beautiful contrast surrounding the resort itself were the enchanting ruins of Anse Mamin (an old sugar plantation) and the colorful town of Soufriere.

Our photographers were amazing! The pictures speak for themselves. We actually saw some of Matt’s photographs on Junebug and he was top of our list for photographers. Since this was a last minute elopement, he was pretty much booked up except for the few days we requested — so we knew it was meant to be. We loved working with Matt because he was so easy-going and was open to non-traditional shooting locations, but was professional, understood our vision, and captured our vibe perfectly. We look back at these photographs, smile and say “wow” thats us, what a magical time. Actually, everyone we know who has seen these pictures, has said “wow, that looks amazing!”

Our favorite moment happened the following day in Soufriere when many people called “congratulations” as we walked around. Two men even wanted a picture! When we returned to the hotel one of the staff members told us he had seen us on Facebook as his friend was one of the men we took a picture with. Everyone’s happiness for us made the day even more special.

Jaimie and William were married in an intimate ceremony at Jacks Point overlooking The Remarkables near Queenstown, New Zealand. Jaimie perfected her vintage-inspired bridal look, from old Hollywood blonde curls to a fur stole and a curve-hugging Mary Ioannidis gown. Photographer Jim Pollard We Are brilliantly captured the day’s beauty, including reception decor designed by Colour Me Happy and the breathtaking views of the mountains in the distance.

By choosing to get married overseas, we were asking a lot of our friends and family, so it was really important to us that we showed them an amazing time. We really wanted to show them why we love Queenstown so much and we wanted to create a time that they, and we, would never forget. I think that we absolutely nailed that, so knowing that everyone enjoyed themselves and loved our wedding, made it so much more special for us.

Something that will always stay with us was our photo time! We were taken to a massive boulder field underneath the Remarkables Mountain Range, that had beautiful views of the lake and the snow capped mountains, and we walked through mud (and cow poo!), climbed on rocks and got to cuddle up while watching the rain come in over the lake. Although it hadn’t even been 24 hours that we’d been apart, it felt like days and we both had so many things to talk and laugh about together! It was also our first time alone as “husband and wife” and even though it was freezing and the weather wasn’t the greatest, it was an amazing way to share that special moment and just an overall amazing experience!!

Everyone was absolutely amazing and so helpful. We honestly felt like we had the best team there is in Queenstown! One stand out we particularly wanted to mention was our stylist/planner, Stacey Tulloch from Colour Me Happy. We chatted with her for about a year before the wedding and she was ALWAYS going above and beyond to help us out and ensure that we had the wedding of our dreams. As a bride planning from afar, it was so amazing to have someone that was willing to be so helpful and do all that she could do make the day perfect for us. She was my rock from the very beginning, up until the moment I arrived at the venue, and I couldn’t have done it without her!
