This Michigan Orchard Wedding at Belsolda Farm is Quintessentially Autumn

Christy and Eric’s wedding at Belsolda Farm brings together all of our favorite elements of autumn into one perfect package! The combination of natural tones and vintage décor created a flawlessly rustic and romantic feel that artfully enhanced but didn’t upstage the inherent beauty of the orchard. For floral design, Rock River Farm drew inspiration from Christy and Eric’s love of beer and incorporated hops and rye into stunning arrangements for the ceremony and reception. Eric’s home-brewed beer was even incorporated into the unity ceremony to add a fresh twist on a beloved ritual. Luckily for us, Vafa Photography was there to capture each moment of this picturesque wedding.

We used a variety of hops and rye for the boutonnières and bouquets and even wrapped some hop vines around the arbor.

Eric is a brewer and made all of the beer for our reception, so we incorporated that into our ceremony, as well. Instead of your traditional knot tying or sand ceremony, we took two different beers, poured them into the same glass, and drank from it.

I (Christy) LOVE everything vintage, and I love to thrift, so I knew right away that a majority of our wedding would come second hand.

Indoor Garden Wedding at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine

Megan and Kevin put an entirely new twist on a traditional garden wedding by literally creating a garden in the middle of a warehouse. The raw industrial energy of Thompson’s Point allowed them the flexibility to fill the the space with trees, sod, and wood accents to set a natural romantic vibe. Every delicate detail stayed true to the theme, from the antique box used for the ring warming ceremony to the arbor covered in some of the most realistic-looking paper flowers we’ve ever seen. The greenery and fresh wildflowers spread across every table were the exact pops of color and texture needed to add warmth and movement to the space. Cortney Vamvakias Photography beautifully captured this wedding’s romantic industrial meets nature vibe.

The venue was so raw, and I wanted to bring nature in, so it led to this industrial meets nature feel.

We built an indoor park with trees from my fathers land, the wedding flowers and bouquets were from my mothers garden, and our wedding arbor was covered in paper flowers made by my mother.

I knew I didn’t want a white dress, but I didn’t want anything crazy — I liked the traditional styles. The blush pink was the perfect choice for my skin tone and to break tradition just a bit.

In this picture by the water, I look so content — even though it’s only his back, it’s my favorite.

Moody Winter Elopement Inspiration at Coronet Mountain

Winter is coming, and this modern medieval shoot from White Ash Photography has us day-dreaming of making a romantic escape to Coronet Mountain. The dark tones used in the florals and table settings set an appropriately moody vibe worthy of the stunning natural setting. But the true show-stopper here is the black gown from Leanne Marshall. Its non-traditional elegance upped the romance factor to 10 and took our breath away when contrasted against the snowy backdrop.

From the photographer: The inspo behind this session was modern medieval. Casey (The Heirloom) and I wanted a chance to use the pretty remains of some old building around Queenstown, so we decided to draw on time past.

The styling brief was simple: Use rustic furniture, simple table pieces, and plenty of brass/candlelight to make the most of the location. Let the memory in the stone do as much talking as possible! Casey just used a few little berries and twigs from the grounds to finish her look.

Our florals were supplied by Ruby, and she did an amazing job of using mostly greenery/florals from her own garden. We wanted to keep the whole session as grounded as possible. Ruby did such a wonderful job in keeping with the darker tones of this story.

I wanted a chance to work with Leanne Marshall‘s beautiful 2016 collection, and the black gown was one we couldn’t go past. I know black is non-traditional, but that doesn’t make it any less beautiful. The medieval undertone of the session gave us a perfect opportunity to work with a black gown and give it a beautiful and fitting place within the feature. Also, contrasted against the snow, it was such a sight!

The mountain location we used was Coronet Mountain just outside of Queenstown, NZ. Queenstown boasts such magnificent scenery, and all so close to town, we had to make the most of our time in the area!
