Minimalist Bohemian Montreal Wedding at Studio Éloi

March 13, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Béatrice and Alex’s wedding at Studio Éloi was a minimalist boho lover’s dream! This French-Canadian singer and her sweetheart said “I do” among the twinkling lights and totally magical vibes of their Montreal wedding – you would never guessed they only had three months to plan it! Between the hanging macramé light fixtures and an amazing mix of textures, we can’t get enough of this wedding’s industrial boho reception décor styled by Raisonnable. Photographer Bianca Desjardins captured every moment of Béatrice and Alex’s wedding beautifully, including the special ceremony moments the couple shared with their daughter.

The Couple:

Béatrice and Alex

The Wedding:

Studio Éloi, Montreal, Canada

I think we wanted to make people feel like they were in a non formal setting, like bringing people into our home. It was a shotgun wedding in a way, we only had 3 months to plan it and Allison of Raissonable did a great job getting everything together. The only directive I had for her was, it has to feel like we’re bringing people into our world.

Processional: Han and Leia’s Theme from Star Wars Episode 7, because I know it was something that meant a lot to the both of us
Recessional: Paradise City by Guns N’ Roses, because it’s one of Alex‘s favorite songs
Father-Daughter Dance: You Belong To Me by Dean Martin

The ceremony was amazing. It wasn’t an official thing, because we are already married, but it was magic hour and our daughter came to us right after our friend told us to kiss… It was truly magical.

Oh wow that picture of me and Alex and my daughter moments after the ceremony. It is exactly why we decided to get married in the first place, to celebrate the fact that we are a family first and foremost. We were always 3, as I got pregnant fairly quickly in our relationship, so that celebration was for the 3 of us.

Our wedding planning advice: If you can do it in a rush, then by all means do it. I feel like if you plan a year in advance, the stress is just too much to handle. Plus the post-wedding blues are a real thing… I think people enjoyed not having restricted seating, and being able to eat or drink as they pleased. It really changed the vibe of the evening.

My whole band, friends and label and dad surprised me with this performance of “God Only Knows,” kind of like in Love Actually. With a trumpet solo and everything. I did NOT expect that.

Artistic Industrial Desert Wedding at The Doyle Las Vegas

March 13, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Brooke and Ryan’s artistic desert wedding defies the glam style typically found in Las Vegas events! The couple’s industrial venue, The Doyle Las Vegas, housed their wedding’s super-cool DIY projects with accents of floral hoops, geometric shapes, and handmade weavings. Brooke wore a long-sleeved beaded Needle & Thread gown that perfectly accented her boho desert bridal look, and Ryan’s bolo tie and greenery boutonniere added cool Southwestern flair to his groom style! The Image Is Found photographed every gorgeous detail and moment of Brooke and Ryan’s wedding, including the couple’s intimate, minimalist portrait session in Nevada’s deserts.

The Couple:

Brooke and Ryan

The Wedding:

The Doyle Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada

There are obviously many important aspects that go into planning a wedding day, and I think the end result is usually a sum of many small and seemingly insignificant decisions. Having said that, for us I think it was key to try to plan our day in a way that optimized our ability to enjoy and really create memories with each other during the day rather than stress about what is going on around us.

Living in Las Vegas, It was a challenge to find a venue that fit our style. Fortunately, a friend of ours, Steven Span, was in the process of converting his art studio into an event space. We fell in love with its natural light, openness, and industrial elements.

The overall vibe of our wedding was less of a deliberate choice and more of something that we allowed our own personal styles to dictate. Our venue provided us a beautiful, naturally lit, blank slate in which we were able to project a very modern, minimalist style with hints from our desert roots. We wanted to create an atmosphere that was classy, yet comfortable.

We were very lucky to have an endless amount of talented friends and family that helped us create our vision. Almost everything in our wedding was made by hand. This included all wall decorations (weavings, banners, flower hoops/strands, geometric shapes, photo backdrop, and donut wall) and other details (cacti bags, entrance poster, and seat covers) etc…

Nothing beats the feeling of saying your vows and committing yourself to your spouse in front of everyone you love. Nothing! But I will say there is an indescribable feeling of bliss and reality you feel after the send-off when you both shut the doors of the car. It’s quiet, you’re both finally alone, and so happily in love.

Try not to get hung up on every little thing that could go wrong! Looking back on our wedding now, some of our happiest memories are when things didn’t go as planned. Also, be sure to cherish every moment the two of you have to yourselves during your day. You’d be amazed at how hard it can actually be to have quality time with your spouse on your wedding day.

Relaxed South African Destination Wedding at Nooitgedacht Estate

March 12, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

This wedding at Nooitgedacht Estate in South Africa is one of the most relaxed and natural weddings we’ve seen. So, imagine our surprise when we learned that the bride, Jeannine, lived in the United States and the groom, Daniel, lived in Barcelona while they planned this incredible destination wedding! The bride’s family has lived in Cape Town for generations, and she wanted to share her home town with their guests. They had an intimate garden ceremony followed by a modern, almost minimalist, reception in the grand hall (a former wine cellar) of the historic Cape Dutch winery. Julia Wade Photography captured not only all the beautiful details of the wedding day, but also some spectacular day-after photos of the couple at the bay.

The Couple:

Jeannine and Daniel

The Wedding:

Nooitgedacht Estate, Cape Town, South Africa

Dani is from Barcelona, and I’m from Cape Town but have lived in Raleigh, North Carolina for almost 19 years. It was incredible to see old friends and family from Cape Town and we were ecstatic to have Dani‘s family from Barcelona attend, as well as friends from the States and all over Europe.

Dani and I are both super relaxed and like to keep things as natural as possible. Our vibe was just that– relaxing, minimal (but paying attention to detail) and lively.

From the photographer: The bride was born and raised in South Africa, in a town called Hout Bay, about 30 minutes south of downtown Cape Town, where her family has lived for generations (and still does). That’s why we did a day-after shoot on that bay. I really wanted to give her imagery that told HER story of South Africa, as well as the beautiful dutch vineyard she married at the day before.

The Wedding Team:

Event Planning – Nikki Potgieter
Venue – Nooitgedacht Estate
Floral Design – Opus Studio
DJ – Cape DJ’s
Invitations – White Kite Studio
Makeup Artist and Hair Styling – Lisa Brown
