The Greenery in This Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding is a Plant Lover’s Paradise

November 21, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

With all the greenery they could find, Carly and DJ’s wedding at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center turned into the lush jungle of Carly’s dreams. Carly stayed true to her personal style and vibe with finding all the greenery and neutrals she could find to incorporate into her wedding day – the perfect palette for a timeless wedding look! Wearing a beautiful two-piece wedding dress from The Sentimentalist and an overgrown greenery crown from The Perfect Posey, Carly perfectly embodied a bohemian and classic look. Joining in on the celebration, Sarah Joy Photo shot for Melissa Prosser Photography to document the immense love and joy between these two sweethearts and their families.

The Couple:

Carly and DJ

The Wedding:

Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, Atlanta, Georgia

My girls and I stayed the entire weekend at the cutest boutique home in the Buckhead/Midtown neighborhood. My photographer, Sarah Joy, crashed our party of 11 and joined the fun to begin the day. The minute Sarah walked in to a house full of Cheetah Girl singing/fuzzy slipper wearing/mimosa drinking chaos, she filled the room with joy and laughter! Sarah and was personal and professional. She took note of the little details and made me feel like a queen! Throughout the day she catered to our every need and went above and beyond to make us feel special.

So many girls spend countless hours dreaming up a Pinterested wedding- and forget to include the details true to who they are. Your wedding is a day to reflect who you are as individuals and as a couple. Dream big and don’t forget to include the authentic details.

Dress shopping was hard. Dress after dress, I never felt convinced the dresses were ME. They were bedazzzled, sparkly, frilly, pearly white… and I didn’t feel like myself. After much searching, I found my dream dress at a vintage shop in Atlanta, The Sentamentalist. The staff at the Sentamentalist got to know me as a person– and helped me find the perfect summery, vintage, bohemian dress to complete my vision!

Though there are many favorite photos to choose from, I’d have to say my father daughter reveal pictures! My photographer captured the sweeter of moments between my daddy and I – an exchange with many tears of joys.

Dj and I were always sold on not seeing each other, but we definitely wanted to pray together before our vows. Best. Decision. EVER. Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of marriage. You were present and glorified.

We wanted a central location convenient for out of town guests. We got married at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center located in Atlanta’s Druid Hills neighborhood. The Callanwolde is a tudor revival style home that was originally owned by the Howard Candler family (founder of The Coca-Cola Company). Still day dreaming of this rainy day and reminiscing on the greatest of memories.

We wanted our ceremony to be centered in Christ— the foundation of marriage. DJ’s cousin, Sam, came ALL the way from Hawaii to marry us. Sam ALSO Facetimed us every single Sunday for a year to do marriage counseling all the way from Hawaii. A word of advice to all married/unmarried/single folk out there: marriage counseling was the absolute highlight of our relationship thus far. There were moments of truth, hurt, brokenness, sorrow, joy, triumph, peace, and comfort—- and every moment was worth the outcome. Our ceremony was the absolute favorite part of my day. We chose our favorite songs to be played throughout, included our parents and grandparents in moments of prayer, took communion with our best gals and men, exchanged personalized vows– and ended with an all inclusive selfie right before we walked off as husband and wife.

The food was my favorite part! We had a stationed wedding with tacos, sushi, Mediterranean food, shrimp and grits, and fondue – a combination of our favorite foods, because we couldn’t choose just one.

I’m a girl that melts for fresh greens. People used to ask me, “What is your color scheme?” I’d say, “I don’t have one! I just want all the greens + neutrals I can get. With a couple hints of vintage gold!” I wanted earthy, bohemian, and neutral.

Our favors were 2 Krispy Kreme donuts in a box. I mean, I donut know what else would’ve been better than 2 glazed donuts for the late night or dreadful morning.

Impossibly Romantic Mount Rainier National Park Elopement

November 20, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Grab the tissues, because this Mount Rainier National Park elopement is the sweetest thing! One of our very own Junebug members, Amber Phinisee, promised forever to her handsome groom, Tyler, in the forest with their three dogs as witnesses. These two were up for the ultimate adventure from driving across the country from Georgia and spending their entire wedding day outside – from getting ready to exploring Mount Rainier National Park until sunset. We are obsessed with Amber’s overgrown bouquet from Westerwisp and how whimsical and ethereal it is. Love Stories Co photographed and adventured alongside Amber and Tyler the entire day and we can’t get enough of the resulting images!

The Couple:

Amber and Tyler

The Wedding:

Mount Rainier National Park, Seattle, Washington

Patience of Intensify by Patience is my sister so it meant the most to have her in Washington with us and to be my makeup artist. We chose to go with a soft romantic look to compliment my bridal look and it was perfect. She made me look and feel like the most beautiful bride in the world. Also, my makeup remained flawless the entire day even after crying during my ceremony. She is truly the best!

When Tyler and I planned our elopement in Seattle we wanted it to be our greatest and most memorable adventure together of becoming one. It was a must to have our three sweet pups there with us so we decided to drive 40+ hours cross country from Georgia instead of flying just so that we could have Ellie, Summer, and Finn be a part of our day. Tyler and I wanted the location of our elopement to have stunning views and different than what we’re used to seeing in the south eastern coast. We had always talked about traveling to Seattle because of how beautiful it was so we decided to go for it even though we had never been!

We had never been to Washington, so the day before our elopement we traveled to Mount Rainier National Park with our closest family and friends to find the perfect location.

The most memorable part of our day was our ceremony in Mount Rainier National Park. The ceremony took place in an intimate setting in the woods with a serene breeze and golden sun peaking through the tall trees. God gave us the most perfect day. Tyler and I chose to write our own vows andwait until the ceremony to see each other. Our hearts were full of so much anticipation and joy as time lead to our ceremony. When the moment finally came, it was absolutely magical. Our joy was indescribable. Tyler was the first to read his vows and I will never forget the emotion that filled our eyes when he started with saying that he had a dream of this exact moment before. We shared so many tears and laughs together as we exchanged our vows. It was everything we could’ve possibly dreamed of and so much more.

Tyler surprised me a guitarist for our ceremony and first dance. He also surprised me tickets to Germany for our honeymoon!

It was incredible having Halie and Alec with us in Washington for our day! We could not have asked for more perfect photographers. They made us feel so comfortable and at ease throughout the entire day. We are forever grateful for their wonderful friendship and all the beautiful moments they captured for us.

The best advice that we can give to newly engaged couples is to have the wedding of your dreams and make the most of it. If you want to elope or have a small or big wedding in an epic location then do it! The wedding day should be about what you both want, not what everyone else wants.

This Colorful Villa at the Sanctuary Bali Wedding is a Magically Tropical Wonderland

November 20, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Nashira and Kevin’s Villa at the Sanctuary Bali wedding will make all of your floral dreams come true. Playing off of Bali’s lush land, they chose to cover their ceremony and reception space with perfect blooms for Flora Botanica Designs, and they added many tropical and colorful elements into their wedding decor for a romantic and fun vibe to their day. Making all of this a possibility, Kira from Hitch’d Wedding and Events  was working behind the scenes to turn Nashira and Kevin’s ideas into a tropical fairy tale. Photographer Terralogical and videographer Alma Photography worked side-by-side to capture all of the gorgeous details and sweet love in Nashira and Kevin’s Bali destination wedding.

The Couple:

Nashira and Kevin

The Wedding:

The Sanctuary, Bali, Indonesia

I designed and made our wedding invitations myself. It was one of the only creative things I could do myself so I really went full force and put my all into them. My goal was to make something people wouldn’t want to throw out. It was so exciting to get feedback from our guests about our invitations. We got so many phone calls and texts and its fun to see them displayed when we visit our friends and families homes.

I had what you can call an unusual wedding planning experience. Our wedding planner, Kira, from Hitch’d really did help so much, I didn’t have to fret over the small details. I just told her what I wanted and it magically appeared. The only things I stressed about were the logistics. I acted as a travel agent for the wedding trip and coordinated a group flight, accommodations and everything else for our guests. My advise would be to find a really great agent that’s willing to work one on one with each guest if you are having a destination wedding. I didn’t have luck finding one so I took matters into my own hands. I did love the experience though, and helping people & giving recommendations was really fun for me.

I just love the mood captured in the photos – they were romantic, a little mysterious, and just beautiful! Govinda from Terralogical did such an amazing job. BUT if I had to pick, there’s a photo that he captured of us sharing our first kiss from behind the pergola and you could see all of the lush greenery and pretty colorful flowers and our guests are cheering us on- I LOVE that one.

What color didn’t I choose for the wedding, haha! I was inspired by the luscious greenery from our venue, but also the tropics of Bali. I had lots of green with pops of pinks, purples, white, orange and a little yellow. I love color and always wanted a fun and colorful wedding.

We were in Bali looking at different venues and the owners of The Sanctuary reached out and asked if their driver could pick us up and bring us to the venue for them to show us around. We didn’t have anything else planned on that particular day so we figured why not? When we arrived, our mouths just dropped. It’s nothing that a photograph can capture. We literally got goosebumps. It was having our own little jungle. None of the venues won us over after our visit to The Sanctuary. The best part was that 26 of our family and friends were able to stay on the property with us during our wedding week. The staff was unbelievably hospitable and made that week just unforgettable.

The most important thing to us was for our loved ones to be able to make it to our wedding. We know we weren’t asking for a small favor when we asked everyone to travel 10,000 miles to Bali!

So my husband and his guys choreographed a surprise dance for me to a mix of “Jump on It” and Despacito” which was HILARIOUS and so, so good. I’m still not really sure how they pulled it off. As if that wasn’t amazing enough, my bridal party also surprised us with a dramatic and hilarious dance to “Downtown” by Macklemore.

The day as a whole was just perfect – from a morning meditation session with my bridal party, shedding massive tears while getting ready, walking down the aisle with my dad, hearing Kevin‘s vows for me, the maid of honor and best man speeches, the surprise dances, the water drums, the fireworks… I mean…it was all a dream.
