Boho Chic Wisconsin Wedding at Caribou Bay Retreat

October 30, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Caribou Bay Retreat was the perfect backdrop for Dana and Jason’s bohemian outdoor wedding. These two proved that it’s best to go with the flow and enjoy your wedding day, despite the uncertainty of weather. After planning a weekend full of outdoor activities, they ended up putting up a tent for their wedding ceremony and said their “I do’s” as the rain came down. Their relaxed vibe lasted all weekend as they managed to still have the best weekend ever celebrating with their family and friends (and pup!). Although the rain wasn’t ideal, it made for some dreamy photos by Danielle Simone Charles. She had Dana and Jason looking ethereal in the woods with the most magical Daffodil Parker bouquet ever.

The Couple:

Dana and Jason

The Wedding:

Caribou Bay Retreat, Coloma, Wisconsin

We had so many friends and family coming from near and far, so the most important thing to us was finding little ways to make everyone intermingle and have fun together while keeping it way more relaxed and intimate than your standard wedding. I wanted to avoid the things that you don’t really want to do but think you have to at a wedding, and replace those with fun ideas of our own. Instead of the standard clinking of the glasses for a kiss we had guests shake homemade tambourines, we added a custom espresso bar, had a toast with our guests during the ceremony, and had other unique homemade touches throughout the day.

Relish the moments that you have together during the day and remember not to stress about every detail going the way you planned, because even if it does appear that you have every t-crossed and every i-dotted, at the end of the day, things will not go perfectly. Our wedding was planned to be entirely outside. The week leading up to the day the weather was supposed to be perfect, a 10% chance of rain (which was predicted to only be .001 inches!). Fast forward to our day when it poured and thundered all day long, we threw up a tent, took pictures in the rain and just went with the flow and laughed it off. You only have one wedding day, so don’t let the little mishaps be the thing that you remember about your day, remember what’s important and have fun with your loved ones!

We decided to have my older brother conduct the ceremony and it turned out perfectly unique to the two of us. He may have slightly embarrassed us both, but he also told touching stories that we could laugh and cry to with our family and friends in such a personal and intimate way.

The most memorable part of the day was Dana’s vows. Dana is a very analytical type-calculated in all that she does which lends to how perfectly planned everything was. When it comes to the “expressive side”, you would never take Dana for a poet or an artist, but her vows absolutely floored everyone. There was not a dry eye in the room, and I have never experienced a more eloquently assembled collection of words to describe the way someone feels for somebody.

We absolutely loved working with our photographer, Danielle Simone Charles. It felt like a long time friend was photographing the wedding and her pictures embodied the vibe we were going for perfectly, and let’s be honest the pictures speak for themselves.

One item that we lend to Dana’s mother were that fantastic homemade tambourines. She put these together as an option opposed to the option of tapping a wine glass when requesting the bride and groom to kiss. It wasn’t intended as a favor but at the end of the wedding, 80% of the tambourines were missing. We were thrilled that our guest loved them enough to take them home and welcomed the idea.

This Alnwick Treehouse Wedding is Even Dreamier Than You Think

October 29, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Emma and Stacey’s Alnwick Treehouse wedding was an emotional, intimate celebration that included their closest friends and family in a rustic, magical outdoor ceremony under the woodland canopy. The gorgeous treehouse nestled high in the treetops was the perfect magical and unique setting that incorporated the couple’s outdoor hobbies and love of nature with stunning walkways in the sky, rope bridges, and twinkling lights for serious fairytale vibes. With a natural color palette of sage greens, pale pinks and ivory, floral design by The Little Flower House complimented the striking panorama views of the English countryside in a gorgeous and authentic fête. Belle Art Photography, a friend of the couple, captured a series of beautiful, heartfelt and tender moments of this incredibly sweet, happy pair – including plenty of shots of couple’s adorable cockapoo, Stanley, as ring bearer.

The Couple:

Emma and Stacey

The Wedding:

Alnwick Treehouse, Northumberland, England

We wanted a venue that meant something to us and we had spent one of our first dates at the treehouse and fell in love with it. We hoped our wedding was a reflection of us as a couple andthings that we enjoy together.

We had a rustic wedding with the tables named after our favourite walks and subtly incorporated a bird theme as our hobbies are walking and bird watching. It was important to us that we had an intimate wedding with our closest friends and family which made it extra special.

Stacey‘s processional – Heartbeats by José Gonzales
Emma‘s processional – Butterflies by Lucy Spraggan
Recessional – She’s so lovely by Scouting for Girls
First Dance – First Day of My Life by Bright Eyes

We both wrote our own vows so hearing those was very emotional. Our cockapoo (Stanley) was our ring bearer, and straight after we said our “I do’s” he let out a big howl which made everyone laugh. He definitely stole the show!

As we were signing the register ‘Dream Catch Me’ by Newton Faulkner came on but it was sang by Emma! She had done a secret recording a few weeks before and it was a lovely surprise on the day.

We were generally very pleased with our photographs as they were natural and in keeping with the theme. Everyone really enjoyed the sparkler send off and the photos looked magical!

Understated Urban Wedding at The Seattle Tennis Club

October 29, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

A naturally beautiful venue built for a serious party, the Seattle Tennis Club was the perfect romantic setting for Molly and Andrew’s simple and chic wedding. Nestled on the shoes of Lake Washington with a picturesque manicured lawn and flawless setup for a live band, this couple stuck to their priorities – a big party centered around family and friends. Elegant and unforgettable, the classically timeless theme continued with fresh greens, bright white florals, and sophisticated table décor by Kaleb Norman James an abundance of gorgeous candles. Laurken Kendall Photography captured so many heartfelt moments, including a charming first look and rooftop couple photos overlooking Pike Place Market.

The Couple:

Molly and Andrew

The Wedding:

Seattle Tennis Club, Seattle, Washington

We wanted to enjoy our wedding day. For us that meant focusing on the things that really mattered for the day – a romantic setting, special moments with each other and our friends and family, and a venue that was naturally beautiful and could host a serious dance party. We wanted to keep it simple so that we weren’t stressed and tired by the time the day came.

For the placards I got small white marble tiles that we painted each name on in gold. I have assisted on a few weddings before and something that I had seen was the table menus or placards would blow away in the wind if it was outside. We also LOVE popcorn (I mean, it’s a serious addiction) so my mom had these custom labels printed with our name andwedding date that she wrapped around each package. It was such a cute surprise!

Laurken is seriously the best. I didn’t want posed pictures of us smiling – I really wanted to have the feeling and the joy of the day captured. She did just that. She had us laughing the entire day and put everyone at ease. I had our entire bridal party (yes, even the men) and countless people from the wedding coming up to tell me how awesome she was.

The first moment was when we said our vows and were announced as “Husband and Wife” – it was such simple words to declare how we would walk together through the rest of our lives. The second was dancing with my Dad. Him and I have danced together since I was little (won a dance competition at a resort in Mexico when I was like 10 years old…no big deal) and we danced to “Good Golly Miss Molly.” He swung me around and I forgot to breathe I was smiling so hard. I’ll remember that moment of dancing with him forever.

The Seattle Tennis Club is actually where my oldest sister got married! They did their ceremony outside on the lawn andreception inside the ballroom. Since then the lawn has been renovated and was able to host a reception out there by the water. I loved it because it had all the elements we wanted – it was easy for our family and friends to get there, it is incredibly naturally beautiful right on the water, and we could have a live band to help us dance the night away.

It’s easy to go overboard. Before you start planning, sit down together (we went on a walk) and talk about the most important things you want to prioritize. For us, we knew we wanted a big party centered around our family and friends. From that vision we were able to prioritize having a location that was easy for people to get to, Andrew‘s Grandfather officiate the marriage, and a live band to set the mood. Everything else fell into place around those priorities.
