Spring Wedding in Austria

Spring-Wedding-in-Austria (25 of 27)

After choosing an Austrian vineyard for their wedding for its natural scenery and seclusion from the city, Melanie and Matthias let their personalities shine with bright colors throughout the décor and floral arrangements of their wedding. Photographer Thomas Steibl captured all of the quirky details and special moments from their spring wedding in Austria.

The Couple:

Melanie and Matthias

The Wedding:

Weingut Holler, Spielfeld, Austria

The Inspiration:

We wanted our big day to be a laid-back celebration of love and happiness — nothing utterly fancy or formal. That’s why we chose a vineyard in the very South of Austria for the occasion, far away from busy city life and full of nature, verdant hills and quietness. We had quite a few friends coming for the wedding from all corners of Europe, so we decided to mix some local traditions with our own personal taste and quirkiness. And from the very beginning we refused to pin ourselves down to just two or three wedding colors. So while the location was quite rustic, we brought in lots of color with flowers and decoration items. The most important sense of inspiration was our guests. Whenever somebody would ask us what to wear, we would say, “No matter what, just make it colorful!”

The Moments:

Looking back we couldn’t possibly decide what our favorite part was. Matthias definitely loved how Melanie surprised him by taking his last name after all. We both loved how our band surprisingly played our favorite song during the ceremony. We loved how our guests were going all nuts with the photobooth and that the guestbook still makes us laugh out loud. We loved how many of our friends spent the whole weekend with us tucked away in the countryside. We were so lucky altogether – the sun was shining, everybody was dancing like crazy, laughing and enjoying themselves until dawn. For us, this was true bliss in itself.

The Couple Recommends:

Our wedding planner Verena Kindermann deserves a mention here because she really went out of her way to help us plan every little detail of our wedding. Having only about seven months to plan and what felt like hundreds of decisions to take she helped us find out what we truly wanted and supported us all the way to this wonderful wedding day.
