Scandinavian Inspired German Wedding at Wasserschloss Unsleben

December 1, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Mina and Flo’s elegant wedding at a German ‘water castle’ Wasserschloss Unsleben, featured a sophisticated mix of ancient European style and modern Scandinavian details. The picturesque Bavarian castle offered the perfect location for a cozy but spacious barn celebration, a garden wedding ceremony, and plenty of opportunities for romantic couple photos. Inspired by their own apartment décor and wardrobes, the couple created a color palette of pastels and greys with tons of eucalyptus branches that are frequently used to decorate their home. Florist Blattwerk created stunning indoor-outdoor installations influenced by the German countryside and minimalist Scandinavian design. Photographers Melli and Shayne captured this couple in a super sweet and authentic first look in a stunning and emotional series of photos throughout the day.

We especially liked the fact that our photographers have mixed themselves with the guests as if they were not strangers. Melli and Shayne described the wedding in a very authentic and natural way. They didn´t stage anything. That´s why it was easy to feel comfortable.

Do as much as you can in one place. So you do not waste any unnecessary time on your day with driving around and changing locations. We wanted to spend as much time as possible with our loved ones at our wedding and feel as little stressed as possible.

We mainly used pastel and grey colors. We were inspired by our apartment decoration and our wardrobe. Flo´s clothes got mainly greyish tones andMina´s manly pastel colors. Eucalyptus branches with which we frequently decorate at home should not be missed at our wedding. The decortation was completed by our wedding logo.

In order to lend the wedding to our personal style, we liked to make a lot ourselves. It started with the self-designed papeterie, the indoor and outdoor floral decoration and the music selection with our favorite songs. The style of the wedding decoration is influenced by the minimalist and Scandinavian furnishing style of our apartment. With the implementation of the decoration we had some help from our family and friends.

For us it was most important to find a place where our guests could feel comfortable. It should be cozy with enough space for more than a hundred guests. With the “Wasserschloss Unsleben” we had found a location where we could celebrate our regular wedding ceremony with all our guests in the beautiful garden of the castle.

The castle complex was perfect for the photoshooting and the celebration in the afternoon. The barn on the castle grounds where the evening celebration took place gave us the opportunity to implement our design concept. Moreover, it was the perfect blend between a cozy, romantic but also spacious location.

This Cozy Western Cape Wedding Has Seriously Unique Floral Design

November 30, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Jana and Bernard’s Western Cape wedding was perfectly intimate. Having a small guest list, they hosted their wedding at Neo Venue, which was perfect for cozy vibes with the mountains on the horizon. The inside of Jana and Bernard’s reception space was transformed into a floral paradise with the most perfect whimsical blooms by Liezl Kotze Floral Art. As the sun set, the space was warm and romantic with a fireplace and candles throughout the space. Jana and Bernard’s wish for a relaxed and fun wedding day is so evident in the images taken by Dearheart Photos.

We wanted a day that we would both enjoy, which inevitably meant that it would be laid back, less formal and small. We focused on the things most important to us: celebrating our happiness with friends and family and enjoying a cool, rainy winter’s day with good food, coffee, wine and a fireplace.

Processional – Portuguese Love Theme by Cairn String Quartet
Recessional – Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros
First Dance – Stuck on You by Meiko

The Neo Venue space was perfect for what we had in mind – laid back, a good size for a smaller wedding, a great view over the mountains and an awesome fireplace.

Our advice would be to not sweat the small stuff and to only focus on the things that are important to you – let the money and time go there. Honestly, even if everything isn’t perfect (odds are, it won’t be), it will feel perfect. Also, remember to enjoy all the other special times besides the day itself.

The whole day was so memorable – from the dinner with friends the night before to the breakfast the morning after at the B&B where many of the guests were staying – was very special. Ultimately, the time we spent and the memories we shared with the guests and our families made the day. Our smaller guest list (and having our wedding planner there on the day!) made it easier to spend time with all the guests and have different groups in our lives come together.
