Classic Meets Rustic Virginia Wedding at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens

January 21, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Shameka and Robert’s wedding Oatlands Historic House and Gardens gave us that, “pinch us so we know this is real,” feeling from start to finish. With the expert guidance of Eventi Floral & Events, they created a sophisticated feel with a gorgeous burgundy, pink, coral, navy, and gold color palette for the florals, wedding party attire, and signs. Then they infused some warm, rustic vibes with farmhouse tables, moss table runners, and fabulous moss-covered wood chandeliers. We love that the bride went full glam with a gorgeous Martina Liana strapless lace gown and the groom complemented her with a sleek blue suit with black lapels from Soto & CoDonna Irene Weddings did an incredible job capturing every fabulous detail but, honestly, the sweet first look and gorgeous post-ceremony portraits stole the show for us!

Adventurous Mount Rose Trail Wedding with a Dose of Boho Details

January 20, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Brooke and Hayden’s Mount Rose Trail wedding is a perfect example of the beauty of being true to yourself as a couple when planning your big day! Donning a stunning bohemian-style Rue de Seine gown and a dapper tweed suit, this adventurous couple exchanged vows on a scenic hillside in front of 17 of their closest friends and family. The intimate party then continued at the bride’s family’s home where they ate, told stories, and danced the night away. Even with minimal decor, Martha Bernyk Floral Design knocked it out of the park with greenery-forward bouquets and berry and rose adorned table garlands, all of which tied into the bride’s gorgeous floral hairpiece. Autumn Nicole Photography outdid herself yet again and made us fall in love with every emotional moment and sunset portrait in this wildly romantic wedding!

The Couple:

Brooke and Hayden

The Wedding:

Mount Rose Trail and Private Residence, Incline Village, Nevada

Adventuring outdoors and taking getaways to the mountains has always been a theme in our relationship, so saying our vows on a mountainside was a no brainer! Mount Rose Trail is one of our favorites with beautiful views of the lake, and my parents have a home near Lake Tahoe, so it was the perfect place.

We only included seventeen of our closest family and friends, which made for an intimate, natural, stress-free weekend. Having such a small group only added to the fun and shenanigans that went down that weekend, which is exactly what we wanted! The most important people in our lives coming together to celebrate our love is more than we could’ve ever asked for.

We had our one of our best friends, Joey, officiate the ceremony. He has been in Hayden‘s life since they were just little kids and knows us better than anyone. Together, the three of us wrote the script and Joey added some of his own words. Hayden and I wrote our own vows and heard them for the first time during the ceremony.

Processional – “Georgia” by Vance Joy (instrumental played on the ukulele)

Elegant Doesn’t Begin to Describe This Villa Bria Wedding in Torino, Italy

January 20, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Italian weddings have set the bar for refined elegance, and this wedding at Villa Bria in Torino is yet another picture-perfect example. Sophie and Umberto took a cue from the exquisite baroque architecture of the groom’s hometown and, with the help of Il Giorno Che Vorrei event planners, put a modern twist on classic Italian elegance with exquisite details and a sophisticated color palette. In traditional Italian wedding style, they incorporated olive branches into every aspect of their decor and added fresh pink flowers and grey and black details at the villa for a modern finish. Sophie even channeled ancient Roman vibes for her chic bridal style with a Tanya Anic Bridal gown and cape combo and a custom gold leaf headpiece. Photographer Carla Penoncelli and second shooter Velluto Photography captured every spectacular detail and genuinely joyful moment of this wedding beautifully!

We were traditional in the church, choosing Wagner (1813 – 1883): “The Bridal Chorus, Act III (‘Here Comes the Bride’)“. Music was an extremely important way that we personalized the ceremony. Umberto is a professional cellist and so the choice of pieces, and the remarkable musicians themselves, were all close to us. Each of the organist, the soprano, and the members of the string quartet were all close friends and wedding guests, who did us the honour of creating a world-class and memorable music experience for us and the guests. The pieces we chose for during the ceremony had special meaning for us.

In Italy, the guests leave the church first (to meet you outside and pelt you with rice!), so the wow factor of the traditional recessional of the bride andgroom is somewhat dissipated. The recessional music is really to accompany the guests. We chose Widor (1844 – 1937): “Toccata from Symphony for Organ No. 5 in F minor, Op. 42, No. 1 (1879)“.

Guests took home their custom marble place ‘card’ from the reception banquet, together with the usual array of Italian sugared almonds and personalized tins of “Pastille Leone,” which is a famous brand of candy from Turin.

Lastly, we provided party ballet flats from Save Our Soles for the ladies so that they could dance the night away, in three different colours and a range of sizes in gorgeous display boxes. Each pair came bound with a hair tie and with a heel bag to carry their killer heels home.

The music for the reception, and therefore our first dance, was the world renowned harmonic vocal trio The Blue Dolls. They did a special arrangement just for us of a 1940s Italian song, “C’è Una Casetta Piccina (Sposi).” It’s a gorgeous swing piece with sweet lyrics about newlyweds making a little house together.
