This Boho Chic Manhattan Elopement Ended with an Intimate First Dance in Central Park

August 27, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

High-fashion meets carefree boho in Kayla and Brennan’s Manhattan elopement. As a fashion blogger, Kayla has a keen sense of style and it comes out strong in her and Brennan’s wedding day look. Kayla opted for two Island Tribe dresses – one slightly edgy with major fringe detail and one flowy with major bohemian vibes – but both are total swoon-worthy. After quick “I do’s” at the NYC Courthouse, these two strutted around the city for some incredible portraits by Nicole Leone Miller before celebrating in an intimate brunch reception with 12 of their family and friends at Maman Greenpoint.

The most important part in planning our elopement was making it solely about us. We really wanted to soak up every moment together and celebrate in a way that felt genuine to our love.

The most memorable part of the day was getting ready together in the morning and riding in a checkered taxi to the courthouse! We were able to share in the excitement and anticipation while taking in the gorgeous views of downtown Manhattan.

We wanted to keep the planning as stress-free as possible. We achieved this by trusting our amazing photographer (and close friend), Nicole, to come along on our adventure and help bring our vision to life! When eloping, it’s so important to find a photographer that you feel comfortable sharing your most intimate moments with and who understands exactly who you are as a couple!

I am a bohemian fashion blogger, which definitely influenced our wedding day looks! I fell in love with two dresses from Island Tribe. The first dress was a fitted lace dress with beaded fringe details, which went perfectly with our Manhattan city hall ceremony! My reception dress was a flowing lace dress with bell sleeves, giving off a more laid-back, playful vibe! My groom wore a navy blue suit with velvet trim with a floral tie that matched the floral theme of our wedding!

When planning our brunch reception, we decided to forgo decorations and instead chose our favorite French bakery, Maman, that already has a beautiful interior! The bakery perfectly suited the theme of our elopement, which allowed us to just show up and spend time celebrating!

Our first dance was to a single violin playing “All You Need is Love” in Strawberry Fields, The John Lennon Memorial inside Central Park. It was extremely special to us being avid Beatles fans and is one of our favorite places in the city!

If The Estate on Second Doesn’t Make You Fall in Love, This Couple’s Unique Unity Ceremony Will

August 27, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Jacquelyn and Paulo go together like peanut butter and jelly and they prove that in their unique ceremony at The Estate on Second (seriously – check out their unity ceremony and tell us you’ve seen anything sweeter)! Moments after a very emotional first look (grab some tissues, y’all), they exchanged vows and performed a one-of-a-kind unity ceremony by making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Sealed with a kiss as sweet as ever, these two celebrated with cake by Jay’s Catering and dancing the night away thanks to DJ Chris Anthony. All of these special moments can be seen and felt thanks to the talented Melissa Marshall and Luke Lindgren!

The Couple:

Jacquelyn and Paulo

The Wedding:

The Estate on Second, Santa Ana, California

If we can pass advice to future couples we would say two things; First, remember that this day is about you two. We know how hard it is feeling obligated to accommodate all your guests, but that is impossible and it causes unnecessary worries. Just do you. Secondly, enjoy it! We know that weddings can cause a lot of stress but find ways to always make it fun and always ask for help. You have a big support team so whether its friends or family, include them.

The most memorable part of the day was our first look — We planned to see each other on the second floor of the Estate where the sun filled the room, displaying warm tones through the windows. Paulo was standing across the way, turned around waiting for me. We knew that having a first look would allow us to be completely vulnerable with each other, without an audience, but what we didn’t know was the overwhelming amount of emotions that flood every part of your soul in all the best ways possible. We were nervous, hands trembling, trying to compose ourselves, but as soon as we touched, there was no holding back. At that moment, time slowed down for us – everything was still. That’s all we wanted for our big day, for it to be us two, committing our love to each other for the rest of our lives. I remember thinking to myself as I walked toward him that he was my heart and everything good in this world.

After extensive research on Pinterest, we found the Estate on Second. We immediately fell in love with the venue because it was just an open space that was both classic and modern. The red brick with chandeliers and accents of white pillars was simply beautiful.

For our wedding favors, we gifted peanut butter and jelly in small glass jars. We chose this because our names together create PB&J (Paulo Bechara & Jacquelyn). It was kind of our theme – For our unity symbol, we even made a PB&J sandwich!

While we were planning our wedding, the most important part for us was the music. Of course, the food, decorations, and florals were pretty up on the ladder but the music was our number one. We wanted our guests to enjoy every part of the wedding from start to finish and what better way to set the mood than music?

Whimsically Elegant Georgia Wedding at Dunaway Gardens

August 26, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Rachel and Andrew’s wedding at Dunaway Gardens was a beautiful mix of bohemian and classic styles. The couple wanted mother nature to be the star of the show, so they chose a woodsy garden just outside of Atlanta for their ceremony that was naturally effortless and whimsically romantic. Their natural color palette and the simple bouquets created by Southern Stems added a bohemian elegance to the entire look and their intimate reception with DIY centerpieces and succulent favors perfectly blended the natural, laid-back feel they wanted. Haleema Manzur Photography did a phenomenal job capturing every dreamy moment of this sweet summer wedding!

The Couple:

Rachel and Andrew

The Wedding:

Dunaway Gardens, Coweta County, Georgia

While the day is obviously about us, it was really important for us to have the people we love there and having fun together. To us, marriage is a really unique metaphor for our relationship with God, and we wanted to bring the focus as much as possible beyond ourselves and into a larger truth.

We are both such a mixture of classic and bohemian, and as strange as that combination might be, I wanted our wedding to reflect the laid-back and natural way we live our lives but also hold a classic, old-world elegance.

Don’t sweat the small stuff and pick a venue that speaks for itself. I planned the wedding while in school full time and working around 30 hours a week, so it choosing the gardens to get married in was perfect. The beautiful plants and scenery really gave off the natural beauty I was looking for without having to curate everything myself from scratch.

I love mixing DIY in wherever I can! I did my own hair and make-up, and the table centerpieces were all designed by me, executed by my amazing mom. The green leaves on all of the reception tables were cut off trees in our yard by my brothers and dad the morning of! We also stuffed all the bags of lavender for the send-off ourselves and I watercolored and wrote all of the table assignment cards.

During the reception, Andrew picked up one of the guitars and started playing, so I jumped on the mic and we got to sing and play a song together for the first time as a married couple. That has been an important bonding thing for us our entire relationship, so it was a really cool and fun moment.
