Fun Wedding Confetti Alternatives for Your Ceremony Recessional and Grand Exit

August 28, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Throwing confetti as the couple walks down the aisle or exits their reception is, in our opinion, one of the best wedding traditions! And, while we do love a confetti canon, we totally understand that some couples aren’t comfortable with the idea — and that some venues don’t even allow it. But that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the fun and excitement of an epic recessional or exit! There are so many confetti alternatives that can help you make your exit in style, and we’ve rounded up our favorites for you today. From flowers to bubbles to smoke bombs, these confetti alternatives are environmentally friendly, hassle-free, and will make for some seriously cool photos!

Minimal Boho Malibu Glamping Wedding at Zuma Sanctuary

August 28, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Regina and Joe made us realize minimalist boho wedding dreams we didn’t even know we had with the loveliest celebration at Malibu’s Zuma Sanctuary! This wedding had it all: macrame, a soft color palette, blooms galore, antique rugs, yard games, and the cutest airstream. Not only that, but the couple’s style was off-the-charts with Regina rocking an intricate Calla Blanche gown, flower crown, and denim jacket and Joe sporting a Calvin Klein suit and floral tie. Every detail of this wedding felt perfectly curated yet totally laid-back — so, the epitome of California cool! We’re hopelessly in love with the way Foolishly Rushing In captured it all, from the details to the stolen private moments in which the couple got to soak up all the joy around them!

The Couple:

Regina and Joe

The Wedding:

Zuma Sanctuary, Malibu, California

Joe and I are creative, laid-back, and fun. We wanted everything from our DJ to the ceremony decor to be us. It’s easy to get lost in all the Pinterest-perfect weddings or to get caught up on the most minute of details (e.g. how to fold the napkins on the table) – but don’t! You’ll never regret having your wedding stay true to you, and forgetting about the rest.

I knew our budget and how many guests I wanted, then went from there. Zuma Sanctuary had all of the specific things I wanted: an outdoor venue, a great view, unique touches. It really set the overall look and feel of our wedding, which I really appreciated. We didn’t have to work hard to create a vibe!

I had so much fun planning everything, but I also recommend releasing some control and some expectations (tough, I know). Prioritize the things that are most important to you and see those through. If you’re short on time or energy or patience, have friends, family or pros help you with the rest!

The Wedding Team:

Photography and Videography – Foolishly Rushing In
Venue – Zuma Sanctuary
Floral Design – 800 Rosebig Wedding Florist
Catering – Kitchen Mouse
Cake – Top Tier Treats
DJ – DJ Jefex
Wedding Dress – Calla Blanche
Groom’s Apparel – Calvin Klein

Congratulations to Regina and Joe, and a special thanks to Foolishly Rushing In for sharing this beautiful wedding at Zuma Sanctuary! If you love the casual vibe of this wedding, then you’ll love this casually elegant 50-person Philly wedding at Barbuzzo!

This Colorful Kona Wedding Will Blow You Away with Its Monochrome Bride & Groom Looks and Vibrant Details

Yoon and Aki’s Kona wedding was as emotional as it was colorful! The creative duo DIY-ed nearly every detail of their special day, including an impressive array of florals that included every tropical flower imaginable. Their outdoor ceremony and reception highlighted the beauty of the island and their personal styles highlighted their vibrant personalities and their cultures. The blue they both wore for the ceremony looked stunning against the rainbow of florals and landscaping, and the yellow outfits they changed into for the reception and sunset portraits could not have been more perfect! Photographer Melia Lucida didn’t miss a beat in capturing this truly remarkable Hawaiian wedding!

The Couple:

Yoon and Aki

The Wedding:

Kona Beach Houses, Kona, Hawaii

It was very important for us to represent our diverse cultural backgrounds and unique approach to style in the way we designed our wedding. 100 of our close family and friends flew in from all over the world – LA, New York, London, Seoul, Freetown, Melbourne – that’s massive for a destination wedding so it was important for us to put in our best effort and have a good time! We wanted to create a rich sensory experience – festive and soulful – full of loving energy, stunning decor, good tunes, and our favorite local food.

As a fashion stylist and photographer duo from New York, we had a strong sense of what we wanted for our style and design, thus, all of the decor was DIY. As for photography, we were so nervous about it being cheesy that we almost just opted out of it completely. But then I found a few good recommendations — via Junebug actually — and that’s how we found Melia Lucida! Best decision ever! Good music was also a huge priority. Luckily, our two good friends are our favorite NY DJs! So they played all our favorite tunes, including that good Afrobeat and dancehall reggae.

The wedding took place at a private residence; therefore, we had to book and coordinate all our needs for the wedding. Aside from rentals and catering, pretty much everything was DIY, including the flowers! I had an army of family and friends help me ship loads of supplies from NYC, forage, spray paint, and glitter glue. You name it, we did it! My family handmade the special leis we all wore, including the beautiful strand of crown flowers that I had roped around my hand. My sister Gina also picked the red flower from the Coral Tree for Aki’s lei because it was a flower he remembered from his childhood in Sierra Leone.

Our best advice is to take pre-marital counseling. Also, hire a great wedding day coordinator and communicate details with them thoroughly — including your biggest hopes and expectations. That way, you can be hands-off and present at the wedding. Delegate your expectations for friends and family thoroughly before the wedding. That way people are prepared and not overwhelmed – esp if it’s a destination wedding. They mostly expect to be on vacation but if you need help, they’ll most likely want to help but just need to know in advance.
