This Sahara Desert Elopement Inspiration is Romantic Moroccan Wanderlust Wedding Goals

June 8, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Anni Graham Photography and Mae & Co. Creative made all our Moroccan wedding dreams come true with this unbelievable Sahara Desert elopement! Set in the Kam Kam dunes, this styled shoot had it all: safari-inspired bride and groom style, a bohemian picnic in the sand, and a camel ride into the sunset. We can’t get enough of the chic decor the team used for the picnic. Plus, the dried flowers Brier + Ivy hung over the picnic canopy were an unexpected — and stunning — finishing touch! We’re also completely obsessed with the bride’s two-piece Elizabeth Dye ensemble and the groom’s modern Arabic-styled look. Needless to say, we won’t be able to get this elopement inspiration off our minds for the foreseeable future!

From the photographer: “Located in the heart of the Sahara Desert, Kam Kam Dunes was the perfect location for this adventure elopement styled shoot. Our couple traveled 13 hours by bus from Marrakesh to be immersed in the culture-rich Sahara Berber region. The couple spent the morning at the camp, a glamping site filled with traditional Berber tents adorned in local-made organic leather.”

From the photographer: “The couple’s clothing celebrated the desert safari feel of this elopement, as the bride wore an Elizabeth Dye two-piece and the groom wore a traditional Arabic-styled piece and hat. The bride rode a camel as the duo traveled across the dunes to chase the desert’s waning light. A local officiant led the couple through their vows, then they ended the evening under a sprawling dried-floral canopy from Brier and Ivy with a gorgeous tablescape styled by Mae and Co. Kam Kam Dunes was perfect for this adventure-seeking couple, who embraced all the natural beauty of Morocco’s desert.”

This Uniquely Styled Edwards, Colorado Wedding Includes Luxe Neutrals and Chic Pops of Red

June 8, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Do you hear that? It’s the mountains in Julie and Mark’s Edwards, Colorado wedding calling, and we must go! The bride, who was the creative genius behind the design, created a natural elegance that evoked the low-key sophistication of the Colorado Rockies. The couple’s planner, Bella Design & Planning, did a marvelous job helping them bring their vision to life. Between the neutral colors at the private ranch venue and the bursts of poppy red in the florals created by Nature’s Grace Design, the bridesmaids’ gowns, and the bride’s shoes, the details of this wedding are simply too stunning for words! Cork Creative did a masterful job capturing every angle and every moment of this wedding, especially the couple’s uber-romantic first look and their larger-than-life dance party under the stars!

The Couple:

Julie and Mark

The Wedding:

Private Ranch, Edwards, Colorado

For my wedding day style, I wanted to look ethereal and bohemian while still maintaining an elegance that I would appreciate in 25 years. I went to 12 appointments to look for a dress and finally landed on the one I wore, which fit like a glove the moment I tried it on! I wore a pair of gorgeous Aminah Abdul Jillil bow pumps in red and earrings that were custom made by my sister-in-law, who is the founder and designer of Retrouvai. The earrings are called “gypsies” and are a string of gemstones that incorporated pearls and brought all of the red, green, and natural colors of our wedding together.

I told my bridesmaids to pick a 3/4 length dress or longer in poppy red and it came together beautifully! I love that all of the girls chose a dress that they felt comfortable in and can wear again. One bridesmaid was pregnant (which I didn’t know at the time) and her dress hid her little secret perfectly. Another bridesmaid re-wore her dress on her honeymoon one month later!

Our first look! Mark rode in on a horse and it was the most breathtaking and mind-blowing part of the day. I felt so calm but full of emotion at the same time! If I had to choose others, it would be having the bridesmaids and groomsmen get ready together (because why wouldn’t I want to spend my wedding day with my best friends and future hubby?) and dancing under the stars. The band and dancing were also so memorable. I had never seen the band live and, within the first 10 seconds of them coming on, I knew they nailed it!

The most important parts of wedding planning were choosing an outdoor location in the Colorado Rockies, where Mark is from, and customizing every detail of the wedding to ensure our personalities shone through and our guests realized how special we wanted to make our wedding celebration for them!

Our advice for other couples is to spend time researching your vendors and locking them down first. You work with them so frequently, so it’s important that you have the same vision as them! That will help in pulling together your vision so you can start figuring out the details.

Pastel French Countryside Destination Wedding at Chateau Le Mont Epinguet

June 7, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Tran and Aaron are serving up all the pretty pastels in their destination wedding at Chateau Le Mont Epinguet! The couple planned the entire affair from top to bottom, with help from the superbly talented florist Freya Joy, who brought their garden party vision to life with an elegant and organic mix of bouquets, centerpieces, and florals crowns — not to mention one of the most beautiful ceremony backdrops ever. Wide in Wonder could not have captured this wedding more perfectly, making sure every romantic moment and every dreamy detail could be cherished forever!

The Couple:

Tran and Aaron

The Wedding:

Chateau Le Mont Epinguet, Normandy, France

The most important in planning my wedding was that our wedding day was a reflection of our personalities, lifestyle and our relationship. We are both family oriented. We love traditions, DIY, traveling and nature. Chateau Le Mont Epinguet has it all – gorgeous views, unique architecture and a completely authentic experience. It served as our home for seven days, our ceremony venue and reception venue. It was definitely the best week of our life! We cooked together, had dinners together. It was where two families became one.

My favorite moment was walking towards my husband surrounded by French countryside wilderness. It was as if time stopped for a few moments and nothing else in the world mattered except for both of us. I still remember Aaron couldn’t hide his grin and smiling eyes the whole time. Also, I couldn’t forget the emotional and memorable moments during the ceremony right after my dad handed me off to Aaron. That is definitely something we talk and laugh about all the time now!

If you’re planning a destination wedding, remember that it’s not just a wedding; it is a vacation for your guests. Give them plenty of advance warning so they can plan their time off work, save money, and pack. Most of our families and friends had been longing for a European vacation for many years and just hadn’t had the chance. It turns out our wedding was the perfect opportunity to ask our loved ones to hop on a plane to celebrate with us in Europe! Before and after the wedding, they visited England, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

We wanted a wedding that was totally us, so we used a soft and natural color palette. I absolutely love our flowers — the ceremony arch, my flower crown, bouquets, foliage runner. Freya Joy provides great insights on how to craft flowers for our special day. She has a special talent for taking our thoughts and ideas and turning them into reality. Our flowers were the perfect complement to our perfect day! She even gave me a sketch of my bouquet to keep.
