We chose Casa Hyder as our venue in San Miguel de Allende. It’s an 11 bedroom home with TONS of outdoor space and garden areas. It’s legendary and filled willed amazing art and antiques. It’s beautiful and truly different from anywhere I’ve ever been. I had always heard my parents talk about how cool it was, and I knew they did weddings there. My parents had traveled there with friends when I was little and apparently had the best time. We also knew we wanted to do a destination wedding. For us, Casa Hyder drove our decision to do a San Miguel de Allende destination wedding. We picked Casa Hyder and the destination was San Miguel; that’s how important the venue was for us.

I loved working with Lindsey Boluyt, our photographer. She made us feel so comfortable and we love all of our pictures. She really took her time editing, which you probably don’t think about when hiring a photographer — you’re thinking more about the day-of. Lindsey’s talent was really obvious when we got our photos back. She takes time to edit each one individually.

I didn’t do wedding colors per se. I chose the color for my invitation and built off of that. I didn’t want everything to be too matchy-matchy. I matched our dinner menus to the invitations but that was about it. Our venue was so colorful and lush, I wanted it to be the highlight. We kept it simple with neutral succulents for centerpieces.

Wedding advice from the bride and groom: DO A DESTINATION WEDDING!!! We had multiple friends and family tell us that our wedding was the most fun wedding they’d ever been to, and I think it was because of how much fun they had over the whole weekend. When your guests are in vacation mode, they’re ready.

This Magical Nestldown Wedding is a Fairy Tale Among the California Redwoods

December 2, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Ever dreamed of a fairytale wedding? Indiana and Chad’s magical Nestldown wedding was truly something out of a storybook! The talented team at Nestledown helped the couple create a day inspired by all things romantic — including tables named “Neverland” and other classic fairytale names to match the theme of the day! We are positively obsessed with how stunning Indiana looked with not one or two, but three, fabulous bridal looks, including a custom Claire Pettibone gown and sleek slip dress with a glam headband to end the night in style. At the end of the night, the couple’s guests surrounded them with light sticks with ribbons on them (personally made by the bride herself) and dangled them above the bride and groom as they danced the final song. From the getting ready moments to that grand exit surrounded by family, friends, and twinkling lights, we can’t wait for you to see how Dani Purington captured this Nestldown wedding day with perfection!

The Wedding:

Nestldown, Los Gatos, California

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Do what YOU want to do. You can’t please everyone so make sure to make it your own! Enjoy the process even when it gets stressful. On the day of, everything just seems to work out.

When it comes to fashion, I love everything vintage. I wanted my dress to be timeless. Dress shopping for me was the hardest part of the wedding. I went to 12 different stores and found nothing that was “me”. I finally found Claire Pettibone online and made an appointment to get a custom gown. I picked one of her designs but tweaked it to make it my own. She made my vintage/ timeless look come to life. All lace turtleneck dress with an open back and cathedral length veil. I decided to wear my hair down for our first look photos. I put it up in a high ponytail for the ceremony.

We both wanted our ceremony to be short and sweet but memorable. We aren’t religious so instead of a bible reading we chose a reading from Boy Meets World. Everyone always calls us the real life Corey and Topanga since we have been together since we were 15. So, we found a meaningful quote from the show. It really personalized our ceremony.

Every single one of our vendors went above and beyond. Devra our coordinator at Nestldown and Karen’s team from Poetry in Motion really helped make our day PERFECT.

I changed into a silk slip dress and pearl headband for the reception. It was so fun coming up with our looks for the day.

The most memorable part of the day was our last dance. My mom and I spent hours making light up wands for our exit since sparklers were not allowed. The wands ended up getting passed around early. Everyone was waving the wands as we danced in the middle of the dance floor to our song, Forever and Always by Shania Twain. We were surrounded by the most important people in our lives as we danced under the waving twinkle lights. It was magical.

The Bride’s Blush Gown Perfectly Matched the Desert Hues in This Valley of Fire State Park Wedding

December 1, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Give us a desert, a stunning bride and groom, a blush dress — and we’ve fallen! Baylee and Michael’s Valley of Fire State Park wedding was something out of a bohemian desert fairy tale. We’re smiling ear-to-ear at every romantic moment Sunnie Heers Photography captured in this most breathtaking elopement location. From Baylee’s whimsical Watters dress to her Emma Katzka crown and boho bouquet designed by Flora Pop, we’re not sure if we’ll ever get over this bridal style. If you’ve been Pinning all the desert inspo, Baylee and Michaels Valley of Fire State Park wedding is the one for you!

The Couple:

Baylee & Michael

The Wedding:

Valley of Fire State Park, Las Vegas, Nevada

The most important part in planning was that we wanted to be in the desert. To feel intimate and remote. I found Sunnie (our photographer) searching desert elopements and then once we found the destination it flowed so easily. We don’t even have the words to describe how great our experience with Sunnie was. One thing that stood out was how comfortable she made Michael feel because he usually feels really awkward when getting his photo taken and we really appreciated that. Her eye for catching photos is pure magic.

Since we went with traditional service and vows we wrote intimate letters to one another, that we exchanged and read privately.

I didn’t know what colors I wanted, but I fell in love with my dress, which was blush. Everything fell into place around the dress. For Michael, I wanted him in a light color and for everything else I just let them pick. Even my bouquet, I just sent the florist a picture of my dress and told her to do whatever she thought. It turned out that both my sisters dresses matched my bouquet perfectly.
