Cozy Tropical Elopement Inspiration at 16TULUM

June 20, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Get ready for the most magical, tropical elopement inspiration inspiration you may have ever seen! A part of the Thrive Wildly workshop, the incredible team behind this cozy day at 16 Tulum is made up of some of the best wedding professionals in the world, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Here’s what lead photographer and workshop leader, Melissa Marshall, had to say:

Tulum really is other-worldly. The aesthetic, style, and culture all mesh together in this extraordinary way to make you feel at home in the jungle. So we tangled up in sheets, played in the outdoor shower, and then put on a dreamy elopement-styled shoot that felt so intimate + perfect, Poncho + Cenit claimed it was great practice for their wedding one day. We wanted to dress up the location we had – not having to go anywhere else, but make it simple, like a real elopement would be. Florist and stylist Maria Limon came to help set up a dreamy tablescape for two. We foraged some things for a cool ceremony backdrop. as well, all using the same location, 16Tulum, a beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Modern Monochromatic Wedding at Brake and Clutch Warehouse

June 19, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Ariel and Brandon wanted their wedding day to be unique but still feel like “them,” so they went with a modern, monochromatic vibe at Brake and Clutch Warehouse—and we are obsessed! This day not only was totally dreamy from the ceremony florals by Haute Floral to the romantic reception decor, but it also felt comfortable and fun. We love all of the little DIY touches Ariel created for the day, including the wedding invitations, programs, menus, wedding signage, jumping broom, gift labels, and rehearsal dinner favors! We’re impressed. If you love everything modern and minimal, artsy and urban, then you’re sure to swoon over the fabulous photos Valerie Thompson Photography captured of this adorable couple’s day in Dallas!

The Couple:

Ariel & Brandon

The Wedding:

Brake and Clutch Warehouse, Dallas, Texas

Having our family be part of the ceremony was most important to me. We have four boys together, my husband has 3 from a previous marriage, we really wanted them to be included and big part of our day. Our two oldest boys were groomsmen and the two youngest were the broom carrier and ring barer. It was very important to us that they knew they this union wasn’t just for me an Brandon but for them as well. My sister and best friend were my bridesmaids and my oldest brother married us. My other brother walked my mother down the aisle and all of the aunts and grandmothers helped me dress. My niece was also our flower girl.

We jumped the broom which is an African American wedding tradition, this was very important for me and my family so it was an honor to be able to do so with my husband.

I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to wear and my dress end up being the complete opposite, so you truly have to think outside of the box and try new things to find what you really love. My bridesmaids wore white and I love how crisp and modern there dresses looked compared to the venue backdrop.

Our photographer was amazing!!! My husband and I both hate taking photos, but she made us feel comfortable and really enjoy the moment. We have gotten so many compliments about our wedding photos. I’m really happy we got her!

I wanted something that was unique but felt like us. Picking Brake and Clutch Warehouse was perfect because we wanted a venue that could host the ceremony, cocktail and reception in one. It was modern and minimal, artsy and urban, it fit our style perfectly. We choose a monochromatic color scheme and stuck with our personal favorite colors. I wanted the mood to feel clean and romantic but also comfortable at the same time for our friends and family. We wanted our wedding to feel more like a family get together but elevated.

Our florist was amazing, her work was just beautiful. The flowers she selected and the colors were better than I even imaged they would be.

Chic Oceanfront Wedding at Akiin Beach Tulum

June 18, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

If you know Junebug, you know we love a Tulum wedding! Diana and Zach’s oceanfront wedding at Akiin Beach Tulum has us all dreamy of our next sunny vacation. This couple’s day was made perfect by the talented planning team at Mango Weddings and Events. We are simply obsessed with the macramé details, boho ceremony arch, and every detail in between! While we could totally gush for days, we’ll let the beautiful photos by Memory Box Photography and this sweet little excerpt from the couple do the talking:

We decided to get married in Tulum because I went there a few years ago on a girls trip and fell in love with the eco-conscious hotels, the amazing food, and upscale, boho vibe. Zach always wanted a destination wedding, and when I described Tulum to him, he was sold on having our wedding there after a short weekend trip to compare venues in Cancun and Tulum. Both of us appreciated everything Tulum has to offer from the gorgeous cenotes, clean beaches, and amazing cuisine. We knew it was well worth the 1.5 hour drive from the airport for us and our guests. We fell in love with our venue Akiin because they let us customize the venue how we wanted it and allowed us to have a late night party until 1 am!

The Couple:

Diana & Zach

The Wedding:

Akiin Beach Tulum, Tulum, Mexico

My bridesmaids wore white slip dresses and I opted for an all-white look with white orchids and a white orchid bouquet. I put in pops of color in the bridesmaid bouquet to make it look more playful and added a whimsical touch with the tropical flower crowns. I chose this look because it is so timeless, and I really wanted a unique spin on my wedding with the all white bridesmaid theme.

Zach‘s brother (and now my brother in law) officiated our ceremony. This was so meaningful to us because he was formally a youth pastor at a church. Having someone that is as strong in his Christian faith as we are was important to have in selecting who would officiate our wedding. In addition to that we incorporated a hand tying ceremony to bind us together in marriage and wrote our own vows to one another. Our vow books are something we look back to so we can relive our wedding day and ground us in the reasons why we chose one another for the rest of our lives.

The photographer made us feel so comfortable and we were already comfortable with them after taking our engagement pictures with them and our rehearsal dinner pictures. I was confident they would capture our perfect day because they are so passionate about their work and we spent so much time with them before the actual wedding, it made it even more seamless.

Akiin Beach Tulum had everything we were looking for because it provided us flexibility to pick our own vendors, decorate  how we wanted, and it was the only venue that let us party on the beach until 1 am! The length of our wedding was so incredible because I wasn’t stressed about it passing by so quickly.

Our favors were hand painted maracas which also served as their place seating so each person knew where to sit and it also served as a wedding favor! In addition to that, we had a photo booth that printed out pictures for everyone next to our decorated greenery/floral wall. Upon arrival, since everyone flew in from out of town we dropped off welcome beach bags filled with bottles of water, bug spray, some snacks and our wedding itinerary since everyone was staying in different locations.
