Be Inspired PR’s Thoughts On This Colorful Backyard Wedding

People always tell you to incorporate your personality into your wedding day, but how much is too much? The answer is that there’s no limit! Katie and John proved that adding  thoughtful, custom, personal details into your wedding day is always a good idea.

They included things like multiple colorful wedding cakes, Harry Potter quotes on their place cards, vibrant and various florals scattered throughout the reception, a handmade dreamcatcher escort display, a painted floral dance floor, and more. Oh, did we mention there was a unicorn at the reception? This wedding is like nothing you’ve seen before.

Katie and John

Plano, Texas

The Importance Of Your Guest List

We were so grateful that we were able to have everyone we hold most dear there with us. We didn’t have a lot of trouble finalizing the guest list. And I’m proud that our wedding was drama-free.

DIY Wedding Details That Add Personality

I love to craft, paint, and make jewelry. Since the theme for our wedding weekend was centered around dreaming and magic, we crafted over 200 dream catchers to serve as escort cards to help our guests find their seats. They were really fun to make for everyone and I’m glad I could include a personal detail from my love for arts and crafts.

A Reception Venue Filled With New And Old Memories

We chose to get married at my husband’s parents’ home. They have a beautiful backyard and we’ve shared so many memories together there. It felt really comfortable to have our wedding there.

Goodbye First Dance, Hello Private Dance

Our private last dance was the most memorable moment of the day. John and I, alone in the twinkling garden tent, dancing to our favorite song made for the most incredible end to the day.

Cozy blankets, crunching leaves, and pumpkin spice everything—it’s finally autumn. While we’re sad to say goodbye to warmer weather, we can now say hello to all things fall—especially if you’re planning a fall wedding. Fall doesn’t only bring cooler temperatures. It also brings different textures, colors, and fun fall accessories.

If you’re including a bridal party on your big day, your bridesmaids’ style should be on your mind. Choosing the perfect bridesmaid look will help tie your whole fall wedding together. To help figure out what style you like best, we’ve rounded up fall bridesmaid style inspiration with everything from mismatched colors to mismatched dresses.

Mismatched Fall Bridesmaid Dresses

Mismatched bridesmaid dresses have been popular in recent years and it comes as no surprise. Mixing dresses allow you to showcase all the different colors in your wedding seamlessly. When you think about fall, do you think of mustard yellow, dark reds, and burnt oranges? What about different shades of green?

If your fall wedding color palette features a multitude of different colors, try dressing your bridesmaids in mismatched dresses based on your wedding colors. This will also blend well with your floral arrangements and decor.

Autumn Tones of Red, Orange, and Yellow

Using mustard, red, and burnt orange colors doesn’t mean your bridal party needs to be plain! These three colors look great in both floral arrangements and bridesmaid dresses. Whether you keep the group in the same fabric texture or use different fabrics, these colors are sure to look good together.

Different Shades of Blue

Most people think that neutral fall colors are beige or grey, but blues are another great neutral color that makes other rich tones pop. Whether you prefer stormy blue colors or a rich navy blue, using shades of blue is an easy way to enhance your wedding palette. Plus, if your bridal party has different skin tones, you can pair each of them into shades that look best for each of them.

Emerald Green Fall Bridesmaids

We’ve said it before, and we will say it again—don’t ever sleep on emerald green. This dark green not only pairs beautifully with so many other colors, but with the right combination, it embodies everything fall. Emerald green is sort of like a classic little black dress—it looks great on every skin tone and body type. Having all your bridesmaids in this shade of green will look cohesive and accentuate your wedding theme and color scheme.

All White

Gone are the days that a bride has to be in white. If you plan on wearing a non-white wedding dress, like black or light pink, having your bridesmaids in all white will make your colorful dress pop. White bridesmaid dresses act as a blank canvas and when you add your fall-toned bouquets your whole wedding color palette pulls together.

Dark Red

If fall makes you think of dark rich tones, having your bridesmaids in darker shades of red helps achieve that cozy fall vibe. Dark red shades like burgundy, wine, and berry pair well with dusty rose, gold, grey, and navy. If your partner or their wedding party is looking to wear any of these colors, dark red pairs beautifully.

Surprisingly Glam Courthouse Wedding

September 15, 2021 | Junebug Weddings

Having a glam courthouse wedding is no easy feat, but Logan and Eddie did it beautifully. They didn’t want to wait any longer to get married—not even the rain could stop their love. To make their love story official, they decided on having a civil ceremony now and a huge party later.

Thanks to event planner Honey + Thyme Events, they made the most of their courthouse wedding by incorporating wedding traditions, unique personal touches, and gorgeous wedding day fashion. Logan wore a puffy-sleeved mini dress with pearls, low heels, and a simple pink rose bouquet while Eddie wore a tan suit with brown loafers. Scroll down to see more of this gorgeously glam courthouse wedding captured by Jessi Lancaster.

The Couple:

Logan and Eddie

The Wedding:

Mecklenburg County Courthouse, Charlotte, North Carolina

Why A Glam Courthouse Wedding?

We chose the courthouse because we knew we wanted a location that represented Charlotte, our new home, and the place Eddie proposed. It didn’t hurt that our courthouse has beautiful architectural details and colors that perfectly tied into my overall vision for our wedding day celebration next year. We would go on walks around the city and I would always admire the columns and quotes etched into the building—it was a perfect fit.

The Groom’s Most Memorable Moment

The rain was pretty memorable in a good way. It made everything reflective and cool. It also meant we had to stay close to each other under the umbrella, which I loved.

Most Memorable Part for the Bride

The most memorable part of the day was running out of the courthouse full of adrenaline and feeling so elated and even silly! We danced and ran around while Jessi captured the perfect memories. I remember letting out a big laugh and exclaiming “babe, did we just get married!?”

Not Following Their Original Plan

I’m proud that I trusted my gut even though this wasn’t our original plan. And that we stayed true to ourselves and kept it just us two. With it being just Eddie and me, I was able to be in the moment with him completely the whole day.

Advice From The Bride

Embrace the traditions you love and throw out any you don’t care about or that don’t suit you. And although it can be difficult, avoid focusing on trends and focus on the details of your relationship instead! Also, hire a wedding planner.
