If you want to take your DIY skills to the next level, try making your own flower arrangements! Take a floral design class to experiment before the big day and then use your new skills as a fun activity for you and your bridal party the morning of the wedding.

For a colorful ceremony backdrop, cut long strips of different colored/patterned fabric and tie the strips randomly to a rope or wire. You can hang the fabric anywhere lacking personality!

diy personalized wedding banners

We’re loving these homemade banners that are not only adorable, but tell guests where to find food, drinks, or the dance floor. If you have calligraphy skills, or know someone who writes beautifully, create your own signs. Save some money and add your own personal spin to your wedding banners!

diy wedding signage

All you need is a chalkboard and some chalk or paint to create your own wedding signage! Draping a patterned blanket over the sign and adding a hanging candle makes the sign above look fun and whimsical.

Instead of using a plain cornhole board, paint one yourself to reflect your wedding theme/colors. You can even go the extra mile and cover the little bean bags with a fabric of your choice!

A wooden box with kerosene jars and rocks is all you need to cook up this tasty campfire staple! Be sure to bring kabob sticks for your guests, as well as graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows!

Traditional Church Wedding in Chicago

September 12, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

traditional church wedding couple's portrait

Katy and Will’s traditional church wedding was a celebration of their love for art and history, as well as each other. Photographed by Michael Carr, the detailed architecture of the University of Chicago’s Bond Chapel, along with the string quartet and vintage rings reflected their simply exquisite English-inspired wedding style.

The Couple: Katy and Will

The Wedding:Bond Chapel, Keith House , Chicago, IL

The Inspiration: We wanted a simple-but-elegant, romantic, smaller wedding that reflected our love of art and history. We had both loved Bond Chapel at the University of Chicago even before we met, and knew we had to marry there–it’s so English and romantic and intimate.

Naturally Beautiful Wedding Makeup

September 11, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

When deciding on a makeup look for your wedding day, a subdued, neutral color palette celebrates your natural beauty, and not to mention, photographs flawlessly. Whether you’re hiring a makeup artist or doing your own, here are some tips on achieving a barely-there beauty look.

Have a Youthful Glow– A fresh, natural face can be achieved with a dewy, light-weight foundation and a perfectly pink shade of blush.

Keep It Subtle– Steer clear of grays and blacks, and instead choose warm tones of browns, creams, and pinks for eye shadow.

Use Minimal Liner– Instead of bold and dramatic cat-eyes, line the eyes with a thin pencil in a black-brown.

Keep the Lips Pink– Choose a nude or pink lip color for kissable lips. Add a touch of gloss for a little shimmer, or keep it marvelously matte.
